The store is conveniently located in carmel mountain plaza next to Target. Inside the store has 4 friendly workers. Each of them separately asked if we needed help with anything. The shoes are easily distinguishable by mens, women, and kids. Its easy to find your size. There are a few clearance racks so you may want to walk the whole floor. However, their clearance racks arent your typical 50 or 70% off. Its maybe 20 or 25. Good prices still, though.

An impatient patron behind me in line was not social distancing or wearing a mask!!! He carried on about how long he was waiting and that they needed more people at check out, the mandate does not allow for that at the moment. I turned to him and told him he just needed to be patient because the employees were doing what they can. I asked him to back up because he was at my heels WITHOUT a mask. With that he proceeds to yell and carry on stating that I swore at him and I am a racist!!! The employee NOT checking customers out told ME that I needed to calm down!!! I will be filing a formal complaint, because my understanding is no mask, no service......this irate customer was never asked to put a mask on or to leave the store. Due to lack of employee training of customer conflict, the person being assaulted and following guidelines was the "bad guy" here. I am disgusted by the outcome!!

The store is usually pretty clean, and not as messy as some other stores in this plaza. The parking lot is big, however if it's frequently full, and you might have to circle around a bit on busy days. There are lots of other stores and restaurants in the area as well which is very convenient. Unfortunately the service here can be very hit or miss. The last time i was in there were about 5 people behind the counter but they kept walking away from there registers, so there were only 2 to 3 ringing up and doing exchanges. There seemed to be no sense of urgency at all for the over 15 customers in line that wrapped around. Instead of trying to get the line down, they were either talking forever to customers about random things, or playing with hangers, or a clipboard. The other tasks they were doing could have been done either later, or done by just 1 of them not 2 or 3 at a time. Then they want to ask you to get a credit card after you finally do get to the register, and it's more frustrating when you tell them no, and they keep going.

Since REI is located in an industrial street, there are many parking spots available for this building and the main building. My husband and I took our snowboards to get waxed. This time around, we opted to pay for the hot wax as opposed to their free machine wax. The hot wax is usually $36 each but they were having a promo that it's half off until March. We went on a Saturday mid-afternoon and it took only about 20 minutes. I also wanted to buy some new boots and I put my name down on the sign up sheet on the clipboard. I was the next one in line and thought the wait wouldn't be too long but I still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seen. It seemed there was only one guy dedicated to the boot fitting area. After a while, I ended up approaching another worker and thankfully he said he was able to help me out. *Tip if you're going for boot fitting: put your name down on the list but also just ask anyone with a green vest to see if they can help you out so you don't end up unnecessarily waiting a while. I'd like to give Mike a huge shoutout for helping me find the right boots! He was so personable and he took the time to explain what I should feel. He suggested I put insoles in my boots because I have flatter feet and it made a whole difference, so I really appreciate that. Overall, we had a great experience and received wonderful customer experience between getting our boards waxed, fitting for my new boots, and checking out.

Shopping in San Diego, California…read more.. My cousins didn't have many shopping requests, but REI was one of them. We don't have REI in Hawaii, so I was game. REI stands for Recreation Equipment, Inc. Most of the merchandise seems to be geared towards camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. I saw tents, sleeping bags, campfire cooking equipment, sunglasses, clothing, shoes, bags, first aid kits, and more! My cousin was so happy to find a pair of name brand flip flops for half off (around $50). My other cousin bought some dry-fit clothing. As long as they're happy, right? They are literally Happy Campers! =D
