I started going to the Track in 2008, when my son turned 4-years old. I was surprised to have such a nice facility close to home. We started with RC trucks and soon, my son was racing against teens, 20, 30, 40,50, and 60 year olds! This facility is very inviting to all ages. The owner, Mimi Wong, and the patrons of the Track were all very helpful with fixing, upgrading, racing, and generally helping understand the technology and advances. I have since branched out to helicopters, quadcopters, and sailplanes. Mimi is always helpful in locating parts you need, as well as networking with experts in your particular interest field. There are plenty of work benches for wrenching on cars, trucks, buggies, etc. The off-road course with jumps constantly changes, challenging both driver and vehicle. Mimi also allows small helicopters, quadcopters, and micro planes to be flown over the racetrack. Hoops and other obstacles can be set up for some pylon flying, obstacle course practice, or just free flight. Wonderful place to get into the hobby, get some knowledge from the experts, and have some fun. Four years later, I am still racing/flying a regular basis. I've been in and out of most forms of RC for about 20 years now and have recently returned to racing RC cars again after a long hiatus (12 years or so). I have known Mimi, The Track owner, the entire time, and she has always been helpful and does her best to stock pretty much everything you could ever need. She specializes in cars and trucks, and slot cars, but also stocks tons of Helicopters, planes, and even boats. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at The Track since my return. Skill levels very from the beginner to the sponsored Pro, and everyone is willing to help. The track layout changes about once a month too, which is a HUGE plus to keep driver's skill continually progressing. Races are typically held on Wednesday and Sunday nights, and practice is usually held all other days. The facility and track is always kept clean, with plenty of table space (with power) for everyone. I am very fortunate to have such a nice facility so close to where I live. The Track is a great place to race as well as a great rc shop. I've known the owner, Mimi, since the mid 80's and she has always been great to her customers and always provided a fun venue for exciting rc racing. There is also a huge rc slot track with lots of parts support as well as a Mini-Z track and Tamiya electric car track. The Track is mainly an rc car hobby shop, but planes and helicopters are in stock as well. There is a good amount of stock in the shop for replacement parts and if they are not available they can be easily ordered. So if you want to start rc racing or want to get into the rc hobby, then The Track is definitely one of the stores you want to visit in the DC, VA, MD area to get an idea of what you want to get into. The Track on Oakmont Avenue offers indoor RC racing and slot car racing to the scale motorsport enthusiast. The indoor RC track offers racing programs for off-road and GT/open wheel type cars. Laps are counted using loaner transponders placed in the customers cars. The slot car track is an 8 lane "King" style track made by Gerding. It is perhaps the fastest King track on the East Coast. Several chartered slot car racing groups frequently race there - Mason Dixon Chapter of IRRA, USRA Division 1(Wing Cars), and a recently organized USRA Group 10 informal slot car racing group. A great place where parts the people are as good as the products. If you are into rc it's a fun indoor track the store typically has the parts you need. I have been pleasantly surprised how often what I need us already in Stock even koysho parts. If you have never tried rc cars trucks etc it's a blast to put one on the track. I have invited friends and family of all ages to join me and they loved it. You can drive for fun or enter races. This is the best rc track in the MD area period. They have a very competitive 2wd buggy cat and sct race. The prices of the parts are high (maybe the owner should go more for volume and make more money) the price for the kits are the same as the internet so that is good.
