I booked here way in advance for our early September trip, we were seated on the open air balcony with Newquay marina as the back drop. It seemed a little chilly to be seated outside at this time of year, but lo and behold they already thought it out with plastic covers at both sides of the balcony and heaters right at every dining tables. Not only did it create a cozy ambiance but made it warm and comfortable as well. We started our dinner with salt and pepper calamari to share with a glass of Rose and I then ordered Brown crab with salad and fries on the side, while my partner ordered grilled pollock. The dishes were undoubtedly fresh and came out in timely fashion. It is beauty about traveling, discovering new places and truly enjoying it. This experience was made even more awesome due to the hospitality and great customer service from the staff. A must try if you happen to be in Newquay!

Very noisy and some loud buzzing sound coming from the kitchen. Music is on loud trying to cover the noise.. Not working lol. They had surf and turf. Surf was ok.. Turf was undercooked and no flavor. I had fish and chips. Big piece of fish and large chunks of chips. Will say I didn't try the peas. Fish was ok, flavorless batter tho. Our young server didn't seem like she wanted to wait on us, but figure that's because we are Americans. She only came to check on us once. Younger man was very friendly.

Based on food this would be 4 stars. But as much as I would like to base it on the food, I just…read morecan't - because of one particular member of staff. On their website it says lunch is served from 9.15. So we get up and in the car to pick up some sandwiches. We get there at 10.05 and order, but they don't start serving lunch food till 10.30. Why state on your website a earlier time then? We've made the drive here, so say we will wait. In return we got given a look as if this was the biggest inconvenience ever. So we waited. 10.30 came and went. We wasn't sure if we could order or not - the lady didn't call us over and say 'Thanks for waiting, what would you like?'. Nothing. So we go ask 'Is it ok to order now?' with smiles on our faces. She rolls her eyes, grabs a notepad and writes down what we want - I asked a question, she couldn't even look at me to answer me, rolls her eyes again then tells us it will be a while because she's not ready. If it wasn't for my boyfriend really wanting to eat here, I would have just walked out and not got the sandwich. In fact, I did walk out and left him to pay. I'm not rude and I don't expect people to be rude back to me. I understand you might be busy, so just explain and all will be cool. What makes it weirder is that I heard her being polite to a local. So maybe as a visitor to your lovely village (as one who might not return for a while) we don't deserve the same respect. The sad part is our sandwiches were good. Really good. My tuna melt was the best I've ever had and it was a really good price at £12 for two sandwiches and drinks. But would I go back while on holiday here? Nope.

Great little deli, bobbed in for a wood baked pizza, spot on.read more

They also have an extra covered patio area which appeared to be dog friendly, as well as lots of outdoor seating with lovely views of the beach. We shared the fruits de mar platter and it was more than enough for two people. You could honestly share it between three and order a side if you need more! The crab was absolutely delicious, honestly nothing was bad. The fries were some of the nicest we've had down here too. They serve Salcombe Dairy ice cream as well and the coffee and banana flavours were both really nice and not synthetic or overpowering. Definitely recommend for the views, excellent service and delicious food.

The signature Prawn Juice beer was great, as were the fries, which were sort of like small steak fries. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp sandwich. Next time I might try it without the Marie Rose sauce (which is basically fry sauce in America.) The servers were super friendly. And the outdoor seating, which consists of a number of wood picnic tables, was really nice. They have indoor seating as well. I went on a busy spring Sunday and was still able to find seating outside within a few minutes. Local tip: you can park in the neighboring public car park/parking lot next to the Winking Prawn and take a 30 min walk in to downtown Salcombe, where parking can be tricky. The walk is a bit hilly. Bring coins (GBP coins) for the paid parking, if possible! Otherwise you must download an app and pay via your phone. No credit cards at the machine. It's about 1.5 GBP/hour. You need to single pound coins, not pence.
