After getting 3 vehicles and spending thousands of dollars at tint world, and feeling like I was not valued or taken seriously at tint world. I have decided to take my business else where. When I called Jason he was professional, patient and transparent. We needed 10 year old film to be removed and have the vehicle re tinted. Jason was honest and asked if I could bring the vehicle by for a more thorough inspection before giving a quote. I appreciated that and obliged. There was some concern with the rear glass as the old film compromised the defroster strips and required careful extraction. We decided to give his establishment a shot and we were not disappointed. This is my second time having work done here. Jason is the kind of person who under promises and over delivers. I had the windshield tinted with a ceramic coat because the sun is so harsh with the giant window! I called a few other places for a quote and no one else would even attempt the job. This is a long overdue review, I brought my 4runner in to get both tints and decals done. I had the decals printed by a company and brought it in for Jason to install. Per Jason's feedback, the print did not match the dimensions of the truck. But he was determined to make it work and took extra time to free hand the design. Jason and staff at The Tint Lab were very responsive on Yelp Messenger when requesting a quote and additional questions to the process and materials used. I was able to get an appointment right away, which was awesome, because Jason does seem to book up pretty quickly. On arrival, although very busy, they took the time to address more questions and recommend tint percentages that I was questioning for my Explorer. They mentioned it would take a few hours to do the work and asked if I wanted to hang out (super clean storefront), have them drop me off, or get picked up by someone else (which I did since I had my wife running errands nearby, it only made sense)! I picked up my Explorer and was impressed! I wasn't going with a drastic change but wanted UV protection so opted for a "clearer" 80% Air Blue over my existing oem privacy with 30% IRX in the back. Could've went 20% in the front to match the rear but wanted to have a more subtle look in the front. Super clean install, exactly what I wanted. an extremely overdue review. i've visited Jason three times now for tint, and every time he's been an absolute pro. he's the kind of rare person you work with and you think to yourself, "god DAMN, why isn't everybody this laser-focused and detailed and cool to do business with?" his work is always reliable and high-quality, and he's never left me feeling like some anonymous walk-in schmuck. some businesses (just in general, businesses of any kind), you go up to the counter and you get a glance from whoever's working there, and you feel like an npc. Jason is always present and engaged and personable, and you immediately get a very clear sense that you're in good hands, dealing with someone who's going to treat you and your project right. one time i had to take my car back in to have the tint reapplied to a replaced pane of glass, and he asked "is it okay if i do a little something extra before you pick it up? i've got a cool idea." i didn't know what he meant, but i said "sure" because i trust him. i picked it up that night, and he brought me into the garage bay, and said "go stand right behind the car and take a photo. no no, turn on the flash, trust me." i was confused, but i did it. when i checked the photo, i realized he'd added these small, perfectly hand-cut decals over the factory badges, in retroreflective film (meaning, they only glow when being directly hit by light, like a road sign). sick as hell. that's Jason, the step-above-the-rest kind of guy he is. sadly, it seems the shop is temporarily closed. i'm replacing my car soon, and will want tint, PPF, and some other stuff done while it's fresh. for one, i'm thinking, "ugh, i do NOT want to take my car anywhere else." but more importantly than getting some vain, unnecessary work done on my car, i hope everything's good with Jason, because he is a really good dude. read more

If I can rate higher I would. Jason, Zack, and Alex are all amazing dudes. I just purchased the largest investment I've ever had in my life, and that I've been wanting since the 1990s. The Honda Civic Type R. One of the first things I wanted to do with this dream was to get some tint done. From Carvana, it was clear as a bird, and I wanted some privacy as well as some heat reduction on those summer days. I spoke with Zack on the phone and he set me up an appointment 3 weeks out. Jason has been doing this for years, so you know there will be a wait. Had to patient. The day finally came, I met up with Zack, dropped off the R and walked over to the barbershop. Zack told me that he would drop me off at home until the car was completed so I don't have to get a Lyft. When I got back to the shop, I met Jason and confirmed that I wanted to go for the CTX 30 on the sides and the rear, and CTX 50 on the windshield. At first we were about to go with CTX 15, but that would have been hella dark. They only use Llumar products so you know it'll be long lasting and high quality. Once the car was almost done, Zack hit me back up telling me that he was gonna come swoop me up. I got there, and damn, the tint was lookin great. Jason is a perfectionist, and he had to remove the windshield again to make it completely perfect, and then finished the last window. Zack showed me around the shop, checked out the BMW's that they were getting done, and the new Porsche someone picked up. Met Alex (their body work guy), cool dude, showed me his project on a BMW Wagon that they are turning into a one of a kind M series. Sick stuff. After I got into the car we noticed that the turn signal/parking light stayed on on the passenger side, I was thinking it was moisture or something related to that. This was at closing. 7pm... I didn't want to keep them at the shop or anything but we had to get it all figured out. Jason removed the tailgate panel, checked the cabin area, beneath the steering wheel. No moisture. Next we brought in Alex, he has all the diagnostic tools, checked my OBDII, cleared it, removed the headlight socket, checked each fuse, removed the battery. I went ahead and removed these awwwwful non-OEM side markers the previous owner put on, and detached it from the OEM wiring harness. The orange/turn signal light still stayed on but had some flickering going on so we had to think it was something to do with the side markers. REMEMBER this is a tint, paint, and body shop, not an electrical, suspension, engine type shop, and these 3 dudes were helping me out. The last thing that Alex recommended was to get home, park the car, and detach the ground from the battery overnight and remove the headlight socket as well. The next day, I attached the ground back up to the battery, and then plugged in the socket, and... what do you know... The passenger turn signal/parking light was completely off, and working like how it was suppose to. Alex told me it had to do something with the capacitors still having an electrical charge. I hit them up today to let them know that I was good to go! I also found tons of burnt or rusted electrical sockets from the side markers and sent them that picture being the cause of the parking light issue. HUGE thank you to Jason, Zack and Alex. I bought a 2018 boxster for Jason to tint and apply PPF for. My car was extremely challenging as it has permaplate pre-applied by the dealer. This means PPF does not adhere as well. Luckily Jason was up to task...being the perfectionist that he is, he had to re-do his work THREE times. My Veloster had the ceramic tint at 15% but I got the infra red at 20% for my Elantra and there is definitely a noticeable difference in the amount of heat that the infra red tint blocks our despite being 5% lighter. Jason also did an incredible job with wrapping the Hyundai and Elantra emblems to match the car. Blocking out the reflectors is a subtly that makes a huge difference. ***EXCELLENT EMPLOYEES, EXCELLENT SERVICE, EXCELLENT FILM (LLUMAR)*** You can tell a lot about an operation by who handles the phone and works/owns the shop. The Tint Lab EXCEEDED expectations. Zach and Jason began showing me some of the jobs that were happening. ( BMW, Challenger Hellcat, Tesla etc.) They were friendly and very willing to answer questions and show me things in the shop. (I chose to go with the CTX ( Nano Ceramic) for various reasons, largely due to heat rejection and a very deep Charcoal black that has a near mirror finish. This is my 2nd vehicle with Llumar CTX.) IMPORTANT, THE BRAND/QUALITY SAYS A LOT ABOUT A SHOP. If a shop is using LLUMAR it is a good first sign they are legit. Second, their willingness to show you around the shop and the window films they have. I didn't even ask to see the working bays, I was actually asked by Zach if I wanted to see some of the jobs. Of course I said yes. Third is ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Jason said he will not send tint out if it has any imperfection and if I ended up finding one after the fact I could bring it in and he'd fix it to my satisfaction. Jason CARES that much. Furthermore, HIS warranty states that he will remove any front window tint that police deem illegal for FREE, and Re-Tint the windows for HALF the cost. Furthermore, if you EVER have issues with your tint he originally put on, bring it to him and he will fix it for you. From there I knew The Tint Lab was a WINNER. If a shop is willing to walk you around, show you their product and answer WHATEVER questions you have and stand behind it no matter what! It's a really good sign these guys are honest and do an honest job. Always do your own independent research as well. There are A LOT of Tint shops in San Diego. That DOSEN'T mean there are a lot of good ones. LLUMAR CTX film is about as high end as you can get before you start getting into stupid expensive films that aren't that much better in performance numbers ( do your research) EASTMAN CHEMICAL COMPANY owns LLUMAR and SUNTEK. Suntek is Llumar's old technology, broadly speaking. Many shops claimed "Suntek is world class, Suntek is the best" etc. This is just a false claim and isn't true. Suntek is 2nd tier to LLUMAR. Furthermore, in order to be a llumar dealer you have to be approved by Llumar this means NOT ANYONE can be a llumar dealer. however, ANYONE can be a Suntek dealer. This means that's shops that tint llumar tend to be higher quality places. ( Llumar has been the one, if not the longest running window films on the market) So if you apply that logic across all tint shops, if they start making all these huge claims as to how great their film is and how its better than sliced bread and it is not llumar or even Suntek, 3M, formula 1, etc..BUYER BEWARE. You can buy computer cut tints on Amazon now a days and many shops either do that or buy lesser level film and then claim their " insert trash tint name here" is awesome and cheaper and better. This just is again a false statement. That crap will fade, bubble, peel and even turn purple. What a waste of money to save $100 or more dollars just to have to re tint in a year or two. Beware of the shops who tint with no name tint, it's usually trash and not worth the discounted price, if they are even offering a good price to begin with. Some shops won't even tell you what film they use and they will even pull the bait and switch and not tint the film you purchased because they gave you such a low price to begin with and have no problem ripping you off. This is a reality of the business, you go on a lot of Trust of the shop. Lastly, some shops will use quality tint but they won't really care about the attention to detail I mentioned above. I'm taking about the angles they cut, how they place it in the window, how they finish the sides, how they cut it down and what they touch inside the vehicle. This final "finish" is what makes a quality film a quality tint job. From my initial inspection I didn't see any ragged edges, dirty hand marks on ceiling or walls, water mess all over the doors ,bubbles, marks/knicks. This was at night so I'll take a look and update if anything changes. The Tint Lab/Jason exceeded my expectations and even after arriving to take my truck home I stood there with Jason, Zach and Alex and just talked about whatever for what had to be close to 45 minutes... Before I arrived Jason was just a picture on a yelp chat, and I just expected to get a solid tint job and just leave. I ended up making three new friends and learned A TON about various auto detailing that I never thought I would even consider. Based on the decent amount of tint brand research and Yelp reviews, I went with Jason over at The Tint Lab. I'm pretty anal about what happens to my car and from what I've heard, Jason is anal about his work so it's a fit. First impressions is that Jason is no nonsense which is one of the main reason I went with Tint Lab versus the other places. I got jerked around for pricing with other places and even though Tint Lab is slightly higher (difference is super small), the product they sell and the amount of detail that goes into the work makes up for the difference. Jason went over some options fairly quickly since I did my research on shade ahead of time but he did offer up some recommendations. I went with the 20% all around which came out clean. Not too dark and not too light which was exactly what Jason explained. I'm going back in for some small wrap jobs which attests for how much I appreciate their work on my car. I called around a couple different shops that have either quoted me $500+ for my windows or less than $200 for them. One was way too extreme, and the other was way too low, most likely low quality film or for certain windows only Jason quoted me a very good price for the basic Llumar 100% UV Blocking Tint and another quote for the Ceramic Tint. I called in on Saturday to request an appointment for the following Monday for the basic Llumar. Jason was very nice and quoted me a time of 3-3.5 hours due to the nature of the rear glass on my car. Come Monday, I come in and get everything set up, I originally intended to go with 15% all around but decided on 20% (not like it made much of a difference). I came back 3 hours later and he was still not done, he said that he was having trouble on the rear hatch glass (like he said over the phone) and apologized for the time. I told him not to worry because I knew that he wanted to show his best work and that if it takes a little longer for him to perfect it that's fine by me. He explained that he is a perfectionist, and that he treats every car that comes in as if it was fresh off of the showroom floor and it was his. He even apologized to me about our initial encounter because he felt like we didn't start off on the right foot. That's amazing customer service right there! I didn't even mention anything to him but it bothered him enough for him to mention it to me. We talked a little after that while he put on the finishing touches, he even applied vinyl to a section of the rear glass (a part where the tint would not adhere) to make the rear tint look perfect. He mentioned how he tries his best to provide great deals and amazing customer service to all his customers, and I can see that he truly is passionate about what he does. The final install took an additional 2 hours, but that's because he wanted to get it right the first time and I had no issues with that. Amazing quality work for an amazing price! The Tint Lab also does vinyl wrapping, so I think I'm gonna be back to get my roof wrapped when the time comes! I was looking for a place to get my new car's windows tinted. I requested a quote from The Tint Lab and one other place. Jason got back to me quickly and was very detailed about the tint choices and direct with his quote. The other place wanted me to call. I chose The Tint Lab because it is Veteran owned. Alright, getting beyond the minor overlap in time (kids, so no big deal I completely understand) and almost knife handing my husband prior to our appointment (almost kidding) I was in a mood so I apologize. So I spoke to Jason, which is a very detailed, courteous and the owner of The Tint Lab. Although he was very busy with current work and work to be done, it would be really hard to fit me into his schedule the weekend I was looking at. I told him I would look around and follow back if I had more questions or to go with The Tint Lab to do the work. I made quite a few calls to different tint places and all of them were quite good in their different ways, but after a couple days I came down to an easy decision. There was a different vibe I got with Jason at The Tint Lab. I normally don't do reviews, especially on this platform. However, this is one of those rare occasion that deserves recognition. Although Jason is normally closed on Sundays, he was able to fit me in and work on my wife's 2019 Accord. I had a few ideas what I wanted, but it's always best to check with someone that know's the product and the styles that work for this car and for what my wife wanted. I decided to go with the classy look. Which is a dark (20%) in the rear and get's lighter in tint moving towards the front (5 windows). Just like everyone has mentioned here, Jason does a superb job bar none! He is laser focused and pays attention to all the details just like an artist always critiquing as he does the work. I'm telling you now, you can't find this type of talent and expertise as well as his care for the job he does anyplace! He follows that up with a great service, cost, warranty but most of all, a friendship with Jason. He truly is a nice guy with great vision for his company.
