Lots of TV's tuned with sound on to watch a game! (No loud annoying music). Had great service! Wednesday was Wing night, but decided to go with the "Red Wine Boneless Beef Brisket ". No reason! Sounded good! Lol! The best meal I have eaten out in the last 9 months! WOW! Amazing flavour, with real mashed potatoes, tasty gravy and roasted mixed fresh vegetables "a medley of mixed carrots & baby bok choy" - super tasty! (cooked just right!). I travel lots! and eat everywhere in Alberta/Sk. The meal was to die for! Flavour with good portion and fair price. Looking to my next trip to St. Paul. Highly recommend stopping by the Hideaway, just behind Smitty's on West-side of town on the main drag!

I have been visiting Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge in St. Paul, Alberta for a little over a year. My…read moreoriginal review was 3 stars because the food was just okay, but I am now lowering my rating--not because of the food, but because of the cleanliness and management's response to customer concerns. In the past year, I have had to complain about dirty cutlery and bright green flecks floating in my tea. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough--about once every four visits--to raise serious concerns. Most recently, I found more green flecks in my tea. I politely asked to speak to the owner, not to cause a scene or ask for compensation, but simply to understand why this keeps happening and what was being done to fix it. Instead, only a supervisor came by. No one else followed up, and when the bill arrived, the tea (which I had not touched) was still charged. There was no apology, no explanation, and no acknowledgment from the owner. The fact that the owner would not take even one minute to address a regular customer's concern--and chose to leave both teas on the bill--tells me that customer care and cleanliness are not priorities here. Because of this negligence, Smitty's has lost my patronage. I hope this review serves as a warning to others and a reminder to management that basic cleanliness and respect for customers should never be optional in a restaurant. To be clear, this review is not a reflection on the wonderful staff--Fanny, Pauline, Carly, and Amanda--who have always provided friendly and attentive service. This is strictly a reflection of the lack of leadership and accountability at the management level.

The décor was a little dated, but for a small town was still better than most. The menu was far from exotic but had everything you would expect from a basic meat & potatoes restaurant. The server was reasonably polite and the food was reasonably good. While nothing about the experience would qualify as exceptionally good - it was still consistently above average for small town dining. If you're looking for a safe dining experience with no surprises then Sandpiper's is a good choice.

While there you can't leave without consuming a pirogi so we visited the newly opened Perogy On A Fork. The interior was very welcoming and modern, not what we expected to see in a small village. We ordered the mixed pierogi plate which consisted of cheddar, cottage cheese, sauerkraut, and jalapeño cheese. It was fantastic, best we've ever had. They also have some local items such as cheese and small batch coffee roaster, which we also purchased and thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend if find yourself anywhere near Glendon, AB...or even if you're not. You'll thank me!
