Not that there's anything wrong with Tofield, I just haven't had a reason to visit before now. The cafe is in the centre of the town rather than off of the highway. We each had the daily special which was a fried chicken folded wrap plus cream of cauliflower soup. The soup was excellent. The wrap was delicious as well although probably larger than we needed. We chatted with the owner as he was very friendly and interesting. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. They are licensed to sell alcohol as well as the food and coffee. The establishment is much larger than it looks as there is another section in the back that is not readily apparent when you first walk in. Talk to the owner about motorcycles and you'll make a friend. I'm sure that we'll be back. After all, Tofield is only 45 minutes from Edmonton.

The cabbage rolls are proper sour cabbage rolls (not the German type that often gets served as Ukrainian). Served with local kolbasa sausage and coleslaw. Also a generous portion of onions and bacon. Definitely worth the drive from Edmonton.

Most Edmonton cafés would love to be this busy. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo and chose egg salad on brown bread and a "small" bowl of borscht. The sandwich was average but the borscht was excellent. My wife ordered the clubhouse sandwich and I tasted it too. The clubhouse had very crispy bacon just like it should be. It was very good. I had coffee and it came with lots of refills. My cup didn't hit empty until I wanted it to. There was a nice selection of pies, and the sign said Friday is pie day. I tasted her cherry pie. It was quite good, even better than average. This café makes a wonderful stop for lunch if you are in the area. It's easy to find and right across the street from Strawnichy Sausage place.
