A well advertised local electrical retailer with several branches including one on the Holywood…read moreRoad. It is a good place to look into buying home appliances such as fridges, freezers, cookers and televisions if you want helpful customer service and items delivered to your door. They always seem to be offering sales and deals of one kind or another and I don't know precisely how competitive the prices are but as it can be so much easier to buy things from this type of shop rather than trekking to some vast outlet in a retail park I would give them good consideration. So far I have bought an iron here and inquired about a washing machine which I didn't need in the end. They have a few laptops which are less competitive but the good thing here is the convenience and the fact that it's easy to find someone to speak to if you are interested in buying anything who can tell you what you need to know.

Originally this review read I cannot emphasise enough how badly I was treated by this company…read more and went on to explain why Well I have just had a phone call with them 15/11 they phoned me and all the problem has been resolved.... its a fact problems happen with goods, deliveries and so on but its how the company in this case samsyerman react to sort the problem out that actually counts Now in the first instance that wasn't the best but all credit to them after having a bit of an ear bashing they listened and it was all sorted out. As such they have tuned a negative customer who swore he would never shop there again into one that will always look here for my goods first in future Now as reviews go I don't think they get much better and I can now highly recommend them. Lets face it you can go anywhere for your items and anywhere can muck something up but I am reassured here that a mistake was corrected and done so in a sensible manner.

All your household electricals are available here - flat screen TVs, fridges, washing machines, kettles, irons, DVD recorders... this place has the lot. They also manage to do quite well in competing with the large electrical retailers. Part of the reason for that is their customer service. As with many of the locally owned businesses or single shop retailers, they rely quite heavily on building a reputation and gaining a loyal customer base. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, and they have a reputation as having a good attitude to after sales care. A minor issue for me is the lack of understanding of the importance of being sufficiently represented on the internet - a free website off Weebly with a few special offers isn't going to cut it, and is something which I believe contributed to the demise of Laser, a much bigger electrical retailer that folded earlier this year.

I'd just been told by another hardware shop up the road that they couldn't take out the defunct watch battery for me for insurance reasons which sounded excessive for my little old cheap watch. Admittedly I wasn't very au fait with all this because the need to replace a watch battery is an extremely rare occurrence for me. For some watches you do need a jeweller to take the battery out which is a different matter. Anyway I'd found the whole exchange frustrating so I wasn't hopeful when I went into AMC Service Centre. Totally different story, however, because the man smiled, immediately reached for a battery and sorted out the whole thing in no time, first checking if my watch needed a jeweller, immediately recommending somewhere if I did, all for £2.50. Otherwise, AMC Service Centre is a small, old fashioned sort of place that specialises in vacuum cleaner repairs and part with other hardware/electrical suppliers. If my experience is an indication of the rest the business it's a gem.

It has kind of crept up on me but the shop is pretty huge, selling every kind of baking tin, kitchen equipment and home appliance that you could think of. Behind it there is a mail order section providing three catalogues so everything is covered. The shop seems brand new and is quite large. You might well need the help of the staff, who are friendly and pleasant, to find things. If you want a specific baking item or saucepan this is the place to go.I'd come here for sugar cake decorations, handsomely decorated tins and saucepans. Everything is good quality. There's a selection of china and foodie gifts, but the main focus is practical kitchenware. Lakeland has become so big that it is somewhat generic but undoubtedly has its place.

It's hard to get too excited about electrical retailers. The main advantage with this one is that…read moreit's still independent and hasn't been eaten up by the big names like Currys or Lazer. I called in here while I was TV shopping about a year ago. It's a nice big place, full of fantastically huge screens aching for a place in my apartment. They have an extensive range of TV, dvd and blu-ray, some stereo equipment and a range of white goods too. I was after a 32inch, either 720p or full HD depending on the cost. I saw a Samsung, 720p for a measly £329. Quite a bargain considering the brand and the picture quality. I ended up leaving it and finding a new Toshiba on Amazon for £289, which turned out to be a fabulous piece of kit. I probably should have been helping the smaller independent retailer but alas I went corporate ...

Rumour had it that a cash purchase would guarantee a substantial saving over most 'chain stores' so we decided it was well worth an investigation. Walking in just before closing time is never a great idea for a browse but the staff were more than happy to let us head upstairs and check out the fridge selection. The stock was a bit limited and as we were working to a specific size brief for the fridge (it had to fit into a pre-determined space) we unfortunately didn't find what we were after. Downstairs they had a huge selection of smaller electrical goods and at the back a wall of pretty sweet looking TV's. Someone had decided to play an Iron Maiden live DVD on one of them so it was a rather striking contrast to the surroundings of the shop, possibly a last ditch attempt to clear before closing time. Pros: Great staff, very helpful and pricing is very competitive. Cons: Not a huge selection.

The shop was well set out and seemed to feature Sony and Panasonic as it's two main brands. Had a browse around and eventually the sole staff member came over to help. There was no hard sell and he seemed to really want to understand what I wanted to get out of a camera so I could chose the best model. After a pleasant and informative chat I left with a brochure and a much better idea of my options. Perfect. The shop also had a wide selection of electronic goods ranging from inexpensive DAB radios right up to pricey plasma and flat screen tv's. Pros: Expert knowledge. After lingering about the camera section so long it looked like we were casing the joint, we finally grabbed someone to help us, who told us she'd page a camera specialist now. She didn't, and 5 minutes later we counted 5 staff chatting happily behind the counter doing nothing. One of them noticed us counting them and finally came over. His knowledge was minimal, giving us nothing more than what we could had read on the label, and in relation to one item he even said 'I don't know what that is'. He also showed little understanding of the pricing, which was pretty confusing with real prices, sale prices and cash back. It took a few days for them to ring me back to give me the good news, but they had replaced the hard drive and fixed a few other little niggles in the thing, I don't honestly know if the price I was charged was fair, having never had to take a computer to the doctors, but they did a good job. The laptop now works better than ever and I'll definitely be back to give it a check up in six months.
