My wife and I called at A Kitchen For You in the middle of March when we spoke to the salesman…read morePhillip, after looking around and deciding on a particular style of kitchen I gave Phillip a rough guide as to the size and shape of the kitchen and selected items we would like to have included in the kitchen. Phillip said he would calculate a price for us on the information given. After a few days we were told to call in to the showroom as Phillip had a price for us. On arriving at the showroom Phillip showed us the figure he had estimated for the kitchen, as it was a sale item and going out of production we thought it was a good price and told him we were happy with it. We then finished of sorting out fittings etc and were told that he would be coming to the house to measure the kitchen and finalise what was required. It wasn't until everything was ready for signing that we noticed that VAT had been added to the original price given, but we signed the agreement to have the kitchen installed. At this point we were told that the builder had to be paid separate, along with the plumber and electrician, also we had to organise and pay for a skip. After Phillip measured up he told us that he would send a copy of the plan prior to Colin coming out to confirm details. When we got the plan and spoke with Colin we discovered that some details had been omitted from the plan so Colin had to get thing sorted with Phillip. We had agreed a date for 13th April for work to commence which was put back to 27th April and fitting starting 4th May due to bank holiday. After negotiation this was changed as a fitter was able to work on the bank holiday. Full payment had to be made before delivery. then during fitting parts were missing and a door on f/freezer casing did not fit. Plumber would not remove sink, which was not being replaced, in case he broke it. I had to assist the fitter to do this. Also new pvc window sills had not been included in builders work plan and I had to pay to have those fitted. Ended up having to speak with David, installations manager, to have things sorted out. David asked if I had not sorted out the plan with Phillip in the Viewing Suite when signing the contract upstairs in the office, I informed him that we had never been upstairs and had not been aware of the viewing suite, I showed him three different plans that I had received from Phillip. Eventually after David taking control of things and going into the forth month from start of installation we had a finished kitchen. Have to say the final article looks good and we are happy with the final result.

It's quite a stressful place to be & difficult to find and actually buy the item you wish to buy! Personally i wouldn't buy furniture here , as it looks really cheap but the prices are premium prices! The last & final time i visited, i bought several small items, such as cutlery & kitchen utensils (Should know better by now) & when i got home and checked same items on internet, found them at less than half the price! It's a tad confusing & rather poorly set out store , with very inadequate help to hand ! The swedish meatballs & mash in the restaurant are excellent though.

I enjoy an occasional wander around this giant store and really like the simple Swedish design of the furniture. IKEA overall has relatively good environmental credentials with all stores being energy efficient and products produced as sustainably as can be. I have some IKEA shelving I've had for years and plan to keep forever as it's strong and sturdy. The IKEA cafe is also economical and offers some good vegetarian options.

Lakeland is a chain of kitchenware shops based in Cumbria that has outlets all over England and…read moreScotland. It has kind of crept up on me but the shop is pretty huge, selling every kind of baking tin, kitchen equipment and home appliance that you could think of. Behind it there is a mail order section providing three catalogues so everything is covered. The shop seems brand new and is quite large. You might well need the help of the staff, who are friendly and pleasant, to find things. If you want a specific baking item or saucepan this is the place to go.I'd come here for sugar cake decorations, handsomely decorated tins and saucepans. Everything is good quality. There's a selection of china and foodie gifts, but the main focus is practical kitchenware. Lakeland has become so big that it is somewhat generic but undoubtedly has its place.

Thankfully however Lakeland exists and has every colour of icing you could need and every instrument, tool and appliance you can think of to help with your masterpiece. Lakeland has a huge range of culinary delights, cleaning products, coffee machines, kitchen aids, beer/ wine/ cider making kits and lots of other handy devices that are super tempting but you really have to question if you would get enough use out of it. Prices can be quite expensive but all items are high quality. Staff are super friendly and really helpful. Here's hoping I can mould the pretty fuschia coloured icing I bought into something that resembles a flower or mother may be birthdaycakeless.
