I share the same complexion with Casper the friendly ghost, so I've tried out nearly every tanning option in the Bay Area by this point. Every mode of tanning has its own drawbacks: laying out gets you burned, tanning beds give you cancer, & the spray booths inevitably leave you a little uneven since they're not customized to your body shape and skin tone. If I could give "The Tan Doctor" an extra star, I would. Jordan is absolutely fabulous. Not only is she very talented at doing airbrush tanning; she is extremely friendly and pleasant to be around. She is incredibly accommodating and very attentive to her clients. Whenever I contact Jordan, she gets back to me promptly and has even been so wonderful as to make me look beautifully bronzed with last minute's notice for an appointment-twice! I have my fair shair of experience with tanning. My mother unfortunately did not realize the monster she was creating when I had my first spray tan (magic tan spray booth) at age 13 for my birthday party. It was a Luau, and naturally, I felt it to be of extreme importance that the birthday girl fit in with the thme of her party! 9 years later, I would declare myself an unofficial sunless tanning expert! I have used mystic booths before, magic tan booths, california tan booths, as well as Versa. Fortunately, my skin tends to react well with majority of sunless tan solutions; and I have only resembled an oompa-loompa max three times. For those of you who are not as familiarized with the world of sunless tanning; custom airbrush tanning is by far the best option one could go with in order to get some color without subjecting oneself to the well-known damage of UV rays. As far as booths go, I would rank the standard booths as follows: 1. Versa 2. California 3. Mystic. Of course the age and condition of the spray machine booth plays a significant role in getting good results. To put it simply: stay far far away from old school and outdated mystic spray machine booths. You will most likely end up orange,and unevenly so. A key trick to calculating the "age" of a machine when it comes to mystic booths is whether or not the doors open automatically through a motion activated sensor. As well as the platform one stands on within the booth. If you find yourself about to hop into a booth with auto doors and a friendly voice that guides you throughout the way; you're guaranteed a decent-ish tan. However, I highly recommend Versa booths over any mystic machine- even if the Versa isn't brand new. Booths are convenient, eliminate the possible issues one may have with being nearly naked in front of a stranger, and tend to be priced a bit cheaper than receiving a custom airbrush tan application. If your desire is quality over convenience, cost, and you're not shy about stripping down in front of a stranger; than airbrush tanning is for you. Its obviously tailored toward each individual and the results end up being far more satisfying in every manner; from color and shade to even application. Moreover, airbrush tanning allows for a bit of fake contouring to be applied to the body. You'll not only be rocking a gorgeous glow; but you'll look more fit too! Reasons why Jordan is one of the best in the bay area: 1. As I mentioned before, she is extremely friendly, easy-going, and makes the entire experience rather enjoyable. 2. She is uses one of the best solutions available on the market. Many independent airbrush tanning technicians try to save money by opting for less expensive solutions, but you end up getting what you (they) pay for. 3. She has great hours, is very reliable, acommodating and swift with scheduling or re-scheduling appointments. 4. She knows what she's doing. WIth 9+ years experience of sunless tanning, I can pretty much tell immediately the level of skill simply by a technicians movements and gestures. Jordan has incredible technique and can get you looking like you just got back from the tropics in under 15 minutes. 5. She cares about her clients. The name "The Tan Doctor" is very appropriate. Jordan exhibits exceptional attention to detail while spraying you down; and on top of her wonderful "bedside manner'; she is great at giving directions for changing positions to ensure the perfect tan. Some mobile tanning technicians within a 5 mile radius of Jordan charge over 70 dollars for a full body tan. Jordan charges half of that, and the drop in price does not dictate a drop in service or overall quality.
