Best express Indian food in Winnipeg. Must try !…read more Real chefs, real tandoori oven, authentic naan, tasty options, fresh salads, etc... My cumin roasted potatoes were a bit under cooked, and the tandoori chicken needed to me marinated a bit more, the seasoning was mild, and the raita was perfect. They were also served their meals before us! Very insulting!! The food was ok but the rice was lukewarm and so was the meat! The server practically ignored us! It was our first time at this restaurant, and it will be our last time! The meals are quite expensive for what you get! Not recommended to celebrate a birthday or any other important occasion!

One great little restaurant featuring a wide selection of tasty sweets, 100% vegetarian meals,…read moreinexpensive lunch and very fair portion sizes. While service is somewhat laid back, I think the service matches the very small dining room anyway. The food is pretty good too! It is also worth mentioning that Bengali Sweets sells very inexpensive samosa that are seasoned quite nicely. The restaurant is also open quite late which is nice for night owls like me.

Samosas have always been a favourite from here but when attempting to order the samosa plate, this…read moreis what I got (attached photo). I was later informed (by the customer mentioned below) that the plate I received was similar to a more traditional way of eating samosas similar to how you'd find it in a household. Story time: At first I thought it (the order) was a mistake because I ordered off of door dash and the bag it came in was just an unmarked plastic bag; so I reordered but received the same thing. I was disappointed given that I was expecting 8 individual samosas (as shown on the Bengali sweets website), so I gave the store a call. When the owner picked up, he was nothing short of rude and expressed that he couldn't explain anything over the phone and that I should come to the store in person. I was free so I made the trip and when I went, he made no attempt to explain or rectify the misunderstanding, he was rude and patronizing (saying I am ignorant and don't understand the culture because I'm not Bengali which may be true but I did my research so I thought the comment was rather offensive), and he was trash talking me and a fellow customer (who stood up to him for me when he made me cry) to a customer who walked in during all of this. In total, me and another customer (who had insisted on buying the 8 samosas I tried to order) spent 1.5 hours at the store waiting for the food on the owner's promise that the food would take "five more minutes". I wish this experience hadn't happened because me and my community genuinely love the food there but the owner's behaviour and actions are hard to ignore.

For the price my manicotti was smaller than at some other places. I even asked for extra Feta cheese and I couldn't tell that the order had any. All in all the food was decently good but in my opinion I've had better at a different restaurant.

They serve wonderful food here and enjoyed dining here on my last night in Winnipeg…read more I ordered: Bison Spring roll; which was as simple as wrapping bison meat in a spring roll wrapper and fried. Bison is a very lean meat and I thought it would be jerky like...not so, the meat was tender and the crispiness of the wrapping made for a wonderful appetizer. For my main, I chose the crepe with shrimp and spinach with French onion soup as the side. Lots of delicious bite here and the French onion is the best I've had since my last trip to France (with my family). To top off my meal I had the lemon hazelnut tart with espresso, a perfect ending...the tartness of lemon and the coffee and chocolate notes of espresso! The combo heavenly ! I'd recommend the lemon hazelnut even without the espresso...to die for. The ambience was eclectic and bohemian, and the service made me feel looked after...a good balance of being checked in with and left alone to enjoy my meal. My only complaint is the lack of of obvious parking near the restaurant . There was construction on the street facing the restaurant, I ended up finding parking around the neighborhood. Still though the restaurant was full of people and by the time I left was accommodating more people...I guess they all lived in the area? If you're not from the area parking will probably take away from a lovely experience.

There was a band playing on the patio, and were they ever Loud!! So loud we decided to eat inside. The restaurant was full, so our choices of tables were not ideal. The staff was accommodating though, and did manage to find us a table we were happy with. The food was cooked as advertised in the menu, and the servers were very familiar with the menu. I am very sensitive to too much "spicy heat" and they helped me figure out how to ensure I got a meal I liked. We both liked the food we ordered, but it was on the pricey side, with our meals being between $60 - $75 each, Each of us had one drink, and we shared a dessert. The servers were on the slow side, but they were apologetic when I had to ask to get what I requested. They had a wide selection of desserts, all very tasty looking, but again on the pricey side, about $15 to $19 each. I do think I may return, but it might only be for a special occasion.
