This taco place has come a long way in the last few years. It remodeled the place has a larger more comfortable feel to it. The food was just ok by my standards. The biggest negative I have to say is the greasy and sloppy manner in which food is played. Ok guys do better mainly because "Los Tacos" not too far away will be and is grabbing your customers daily. Their food is really really nice especially their steak and never greasy. I want you to stay and maybe you will. However, if you read this try to alter the amount of seasoning and grease you use serving to the community. It's big healthy and no one deserves unhealthy take out food. read more

This place is ok. They were pretty busy when I arrived so the woman taking orders was pretty straight to the point but not in a rude way. I do like that there appeared to be steak throughout the steak elote and it was well seasoned. I also got the taco dinner with steak, chicken, and chorizo tacos with a side of rice and beans. I was surprised to see cheese on the tacos as most other places charge extra for it. Steak taco was good, the chicken was mid, and I didn't like the chorizo one. Today I went to The Taco Place in Dolton IL. I order two nachos. One with cheese and meat and one with everything except tomatoes! I get my order it's incorrectly made! I politely wait in line to just ask that my order be remade. There is a sign that says the will gladly remake or credit the order but there is no cash refunds! I get to the cashier she says the order is correct. That she took my order and that she repeated it back to me! I know for a fact I said the same thing twice because I have a child that only eats cheese and meat! So I ask to speak to a manager. The cashier offers me a refund for the portion of the order that was incorrect. I clear state that I just want it remade. The "manager" comes out 10 minutes later stating that she took my order and that it was my fault for not hearing her correctly so she will not remake my order. She then turns around to say that the kitchen is closed and that I could get cold food! I state that it was two other orders that they had just remade but she won't remake my order?! She tells me that there was only one order that was remade. She had a nasty disposition. I told her it makes no sense to refund me half and now my food is cold. I just wanted a full refund because of her approach to a customer! I do not know what she would have done to my food if she remade it even though that was not an option at 7:47pm and they close at 8:00pm. I was there for over 30 minutes! I call non-emergency to get the police there. They let her give me a partial refund and let me take home cold food. As a business owner I know that the customer is not always right but I also know how I run my business! You can not have a sign up that says no cash refund but offer a cash refund! The kicker is you refund me what you wanted not what was right. Anyone who has lived in Dolton or South Holland has eatten there. I've been going to The Taco Place for years and I've never had a bad experience until today and they will never get another dollar from me! They still gave me an incorrect order!!!! read more

Pros: Fries was cooked nicely. Huge portion size. Loaded means loaded. They did not skimp with cheese and sour cream. Nice flavors, simple and comforting. Guilty pleasure. Cons: Greasy and oily AF. My first time patronizing this spot today after a 13 hr flight. I ordered the 3 taco dinner with rice, black beans and avocado (extra $1.50). Got home and there was only 2 tacos and only black beans. Called and was told to bring it back which I did. I checked the "corrected" order and asked the young lady "is the avocado on the tacos or is it supposed to be on the side". She said it's on the tacos. So I took my bag and once I got home discovered that the avocado was missing again. Called back again and she said their policy is that I can come back AGAIN or it can be corrected within 24hrs. This place was a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad that they recommended this place. I have tried their Ground Turkey Tacos, Ground Turkey Burrito, Streak and Shrimp Taco, Shrimp Taco, Steak and Shrimp Loaded Fries, Ground Turkey Doritos Nacho, and Doritos Elote. Everything that I have had was good and flavorful. I am a picky eater and they cater to every removal i have made. Only Con I can put is that it can be a bit greasy. It's a small operation in a strip mall off Sibley on Woodlawn. If you don't know what you're looking for, you might miss it. Ended up going several times over the course of my stay. I didn't deviate much and either got turkey or chicken tacos. The first time I ordered, and likely 3rd time, everything was delicious. Nothing fancy just really good tacos. The other times it didn't even taste like it came from the same place. Seasonings were either off or none existent. I guess I kept returning in hopes it would be like the first time. Totally overated as a Mexican restaurant. I'd heard great things about this spot and set out to try them out. My first visit I grabbed a jerk steak super burrito, and a strawberry horchata. Only the horchata was noteworthy. My 2nd trip I grabbed 2 jerk chicken tacos and an elote. The tacos were WAY better than the burrito, but were missing something. The food here is okay, not really as good as people make it out to be. I got the steak & shrimp tacos, steak & shrimp corn in the cup and their "lemonade". To start their lemonade does not taste like lemonade and mostly just taste of sugar (2/10). Their steak & shrimp corn in the cup was too salty and once you get to the middle of the cup it tastes like nothing with a lot of grease sitting at the bottom (2/10). Their steak and shrimp tacos were pretty decent, just a lot of fat on certain pieces of the steak (6.5/10). Food was absolutely delicious and the prices are extremely reasonable. This is the first Taco place that I was entirely happy with all my food! The steak was seasoned great! The toppings and meat were finely chopped and not chewy at all. The corn in the cup had the perfect amount of seasoning and Mayo and cheese throughout the entire cup. I stopped at the Taco Place based on a recommendation from someone who lives in the neighborhood. I initially had a difficult time locating it as it is around the corner from the main street, Sibley. The place is tiny...very, very small and it was very crowded. The aromas were delightful so I concluded the food was going to be very good. I ordered steak tacos two of which were the Taco specials which included fries and a drink with two tacos. The bag of fries that they give you is enough for three people and I ended up with two of those. The steak tacos were tasty but they were no where near the best I've ever had. The green sauce is very flavorful, the red sauce was just spicy. I would return if I were in the area and had to choose between the Taco Place and the nearby Taco Bell. However I would not go out of my way to revisit. read more
