Nice spot to stop by before or after Lake Lanier. Definitely recommend the guacamole. It's fresh with the perfect blend of avocado, cilantro, onions, and peppers. The tacos were the highlight of our entrees. We got the chicken, steak, shrimp, and veggie tacos. Nice portion, good toppings, and well flavored meats. The red and green hot sauces pair well. The steak gordita was ok. Hubby liked the meat, but wasn't a big fan of the base. The quesadillas come with a salad portion along with rice and beans. Everything is prepared fresh and the staff was friendly.

Passing through the area and craving good Mexican, a quick YELP search set me on my path to The Taco Guy. Inconspicuously situated in the corner location of an unassuming shopping center, The Taco Guy is a charming space that offers traditional Mexican fare. On my visit, I opted for the Carne Asada Burrito and Chicken Quesadilla. Originally, I ordered the burrito for me and the quesadilla to take home to my son but, upon opening each box, I could not resist taking a bite. And I am so glad that I did. The combination of melty cheese and savory seasoned chicken were a perfect, harmonious bite. Now, this is not one of those thin quesadillas that's been cooked in butter to achieve a crispy exterior. This is a toasty tortilla filled with tender seasoned chicken and creamy melted cheese served with shredded lettuce, sliced avocado, and crema. It comes with sides of rice, beans as a complete meal. The Asada Burrito was equally as delicious as the quesadilla. Tender marinated steak cooked a la plancha, rice, beans, cheese, and lettuce all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. The seasoning for the beef had a pleasant flavor that I had not tasted before. The addition of the lettuce in the burrito made for a refreshing crunch and coolness that paired well together. It came with chips and salsa but, I felt they were unnecessary after eating half of the quesadilla and half of the burrito, I was no longer hungry. Its a shame this place isn't closer to where I live.

Great little spot. Big menu, reasonable prices burritos 7-8 bucks Tacos 2.75-3.25 depends on protein. I had the steak tacos with a side of rice and beans..half n half.. Tacos were very good. And the beans n rice were excellent. Nothing canned here.. Sauces were on par. Home made . Great people, service with a smile. I'll be back.

It really deserves a 5 for what it is. The tacos are excellent. The service was nice. Everything is cook to order. We had the homemade guac, so good! I ordered a shrimp taco, chorizo taco, and a barbaoca taco. Husband had burrito asada. The reason for the 4 is because there is so much potential. It would be nice if it had a salsa bar, fountain drinks, maybe even beer or margaritas. We will be back.

My husband and I stopped by there today after spending a few hours on the lake. It smelled good and tasted even better. The whole menu looks great. I've always wanted to try birria tacos, so I went for those and they did not disappoint. The meat was tender and very flavorful. My husband had chicken tacos and a chicken gordita. Can't wait to go back to try more menu items. Not a whole lot of seating in there, so be mindful of that if you go during peak lunch or dinner times.

If you're a taco aficionado like myself, then you're going to love The Taco Guy! All authentic Mexican cuisine, with fresh ingredients (you can see the workers slicing them up in the back) and a whole lot of taste! They are cheap too, a carne asada taco running only $2.00! Absolute gem of a lunch spot! Only knock is that the interior doesn't have a lot of room for dine in orders, so plan on getting your food to go. You can call ahead or they have a drive thru! Will definitely be frequenting this place!

A more accurate review would probably be a 3.5 for me but I rounded up for great service, new family owned business, and homemade food. My usual go to for authentic street tacos and such is Taco Jalisco but I saw The Taco Guy pop up on my "Hot & New" search on Yelp so I convinced my wife to give it a try. The Taco Guy is located right off of Lanier Islands parkway in a small strip mall. The location is fairly small but I've come to find out that big things come in small packages when it comes to finding hidden gems. Walking in, you can see immediately that there are only about 4 tables. You walk up the counter and place your order. I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I ordered a couple of tacos, a gordita, torta, and cheese quesadilla. Tacos- big flavor punch but a little on the small side. I'm not an expert on tacos but pretty sure these tortillas were homemade. Kudos in my book. Gordita- a little disappointing as I can only describe it as a thicker tortilla was on the dry side. Torta- fantastic! So many layers of flavor. Cheese quesadilla- got this for the kids. Huge bang for the buck so much food + rice and beans. I would like to go back and give them another try, maybe try some other items on the menu as well.

I ordered the lunch special with two tacos (pastor & chicken) and swapped the beans for rice. It was my first time trying pastor, and wow--I was genuinely impressed. The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with a smoky, slightly sweet, and savory flavor that really stood out. Definitely a 5/5 for the pastor taco. The chicken taco was decent--well-seasoned, mildly juicy, and satisfying, but not quite as bold or memorable. I'd give that one a 4/5. One thing I really appreciated: the meat didn't have that dry, overcooked texture you sometimes get at other taco spots. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. My partner ordered the carne asada plate (charbroiled fajita steak with pico de gallo, avocado, rice, and tortillas, with beans swapped for extra rice) $15.99. He said the steak was nicely charred, tender, and full of rich, savory flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. The plate was filling and well-balanced, and he gave it a solid 4/5. Overall, a great lunch spot with fresh ingredients, quick seating, and flavorful food. We'll definitely be back!

As a frequent visitor to their various locations, I walked in with high expectations for both the atmosphere and the kitchen. While the flavors on this visit were a bit of a rollercoaster, the exceptional customer service and stunning interior design make it a standout destination in the local dining scene. Hacienda stays true to its brand with an eye-catching and vibrant interior. The decor is a masterclass in modern Mexican aesthetics. Bold colors, intentional lighting, and a layout that feels both spacious and intimate. I was promptly greeted by a friendly hostess who seated me in a cozy corner booth, perfect for a quick business lunch or a relaxed solo meal. While the food had some misses, the staff at the Buford location is world-class. My server/hostess was super sweet, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. In an era where great service can be hard to find, the team here reminded me why this chain has such a loyal following. It's the kind of hospitality that makes you want to give a place a second chance, even if the kitchen had an off day. I opted for the lunch special accompanied by their signature queso and a pineapple juice. As a fan of the queso at other Hacienda locations, I had high hopes. It's a staple for a reason, though it didn't quite hit the peak flavor I've experienced elsewhere this time around. The salsa was also a bit of a letdown. It lacked that signature zest and kick you expect from authentic Mexican spots, feeling a bit under seasoned. I'd describe the burrito as mid. On the plus side, it was packed with protein, which was great for satisfying a serious hunger, but it lacked the flavor profile I usually associate with Hacienda's recipes. I have to be honest. The pineapple juice was a disappointment. It tasted more like sugar water than fresh fruit, and I'd recommend sticking to their margaritas or water instead. Hacienda in Buford is a beautiful space with a staff that truly cares about the guest experience. While the kitchen didn't quite meet the stellar mark on this particular visit, the protein heavy portions and the vibrant atmosphere still make it a solid choice for a quick lunch near the Mall of Georgia. Because the service was so incredible, I'm definitely open to returning to see if the flavors catch up to the hospitality. #ashsaidit #HaciendaBuford #BufordEats #GwinnettDining #MexicanFoodGA #RestaurantReview

I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent experience left me genuinely disappointed--not only…read moredue to the food, but more so because of the deeply unprofessional handling of a serious concern. I dined here yesterday with coworkers and ordered the chicken enchiladas. Within just a few hours, I became severely ill and experienced what was unmistakably food-borne illness symptoms that persisted through the night and into the following day. Notably, this was the only meal I had that day, and my coworkers--who ordered entirely different dishes--did not experience any issues. Hoping for at least a reasonable and empathetic response, I contacted the restaurant the next day to inform them of the situation. Unfortunately, the interaction with the manager was both dismissive and unsettling. I was told that my claim could not be "verified" because no one else had called to report similar symptoms, and therefore they could not take responsibility. I was further informed that any possibility of a refund or compensation was off the table because I did not report the issue the same day and lacked medical documentation explicitly tying the illness to their food. What was particularly frustrating was the implication that my experience was invalid simply because others did not report the same issue. When I explained that my coworkers ordered different items, I was met with continued skepticism rather than concern. The tone throughout the conversation felt defensive rather than professional, and there was a complete lack of basic customer care or accountability. Food safety concerns should be taken seriously, and customers reporting illness deserve to be treated with respect--not interrogation. Even a simple acknowledgment or apology would have gone a long way. This experience with blatantly rude customer service and experience with their food has left me both shocked and appalled. Due to the combination of getting sick and the poor handling of the situation, I will not be returning. Their food wasn't even that good anyway.
