    Best Guide in Ennis!
    Matt L.

We had a great father and son float trip with Mike. The whole process was outstanding. Everyone in the shop is kind and more than willing to help answer questions. Our trip with Mike was outstanding, he is an expert guide, with great stories to keep the day going when the fish are not biting. Our other couple floated with Nick and had nothing but high praise for their guide. Homemade lunch on the banks of the Madison and plenty of strikes and fish on the lines throughout the day. Highly recommended The Tackle Shop and you must book a float trip with Mike or Nick. Thanks again for a memorable trip. See you all again next year!

I'm not an avid fisherman, nor had I ever fly fished before, but I had a blast on the Madison with John Way as my guide.

Our nation is divided. Most people live in cities, obsessed with their tiny circles of life. They know nothing of rural life, making a living from the soil, the most Ancient hunting and fishing lifeways or guns for more than imagined threats generated by endless entertainment crime shows. That's where it will take a very long time to create alternative machines that work and travel in country places.

The food was great and the service across the board was exemplary. And needless to say the fishing experience was topline with super experienced guides David Kern and Isaac Corman. The true test of an experience, however, comes when one sees how management deals with an issue. Our issue was that the air conditioning broke and the first night the room was unbearably hot. They had an AC team come in and although they couldn't fix the unit while we were there, they had a portable unit installed to take care of the immediate issue. And more importantly, Manu, the manager, worked to reach an acceptable arrangement to cover our discomfort. Overall - I would definitely return and recommend for others to come see what they have to offer.

But not did I learn how to cast a fly (and land a Trout!), but my visit to Madison Valley Ranch ended up being one of the best trips I've ever taken. From the moment you walk in the door, the ranch rolls out the red carpet. After being welcomed with a cold draft beer and tour of the property, we settled into our very comfortable guest rooms to unwind before dinner. Whether you plan to fly fish or not, the entire ranch is designed to make you feel at ease, and at home -- from the incredible back porch views to the outrageously good dishes served up at every meal. Manu and her team take customer service to a new level, from equipping you for an incredible day on the river to selecting the perfect bottle of Cabernet to pair with your dinner. No detail is too small for them, and no request goes unmet. The accommodations are as comfortable as any 4-star hotel, the meals as delicious as any gourmet restaurant, and the views as beautiful as a slice of heaven. And with ample meeting space for corporate groups, its the perfect setting for a team-building escape. I simply can't say enough about Madison Valley Ranch -- whether you're an experienced fisherman or just learning to cast a fly, it's hard to imagine a better place in America to put your rod into the river.
