Had our backyard completed by AZ Turf Masters, after many quotes and careful consideration. They were the best quote for the most amount of work (630 sq ft of turf and rock all over). The work was done within 3 weeks of our quote, and it looks good however we do notice a few things that we wish that they would have done better and we were told they'd do but didn't do as discussed. We got a hold of these guys for a small turf install for the side of our house. We wanted to have an area where our dogs could use the restroom and not have to do their business in the rocks. We had Brian come out and do the estimation and he was great. He quoted us a fair price for what we were looking to do. We had to wait about 6 months before we were able to get our install set up. Once we were ready, I contacted Brian again. This is where my review only gets 4 stars. Brian got back to me right away and told me that someone from the office would contact me for install. After a week with no phone calls and 3 different emails to Brian, he finally gave me the phone number to call myself. I called and talked to the person who was supposed to call me and she told me that my install was scheduled for the next week. Since they never called me to actually set up the install, I had made plans for that day (Wednesday). I had to change the install to 2 days later (Friday) than they had originally scheduled. The week of my install, the office called me on Tuesday saying that my install was set for the next day and they would be there between 7-11. I called them back and said that my install was not until Friday and her response was "yes is tomorrow alright though". When I told her no she said she would keep it on Friday. The guys came out on Friday on time and it took them about 4 hours for the install. They did a good job with the install and we are happy with the finished product. I am giving them 4 stars instead of 3 since we would use them again if we needed more turf. Other than that it would be a 3 star review due to the poor customer service in between estimate and install. read more

Arizona Turf Masters did an amazing job on my little yard. Company rep Brian Hackler came out wearing a mask and was able to see my vision for the backyard. He took measurements of exactly where I wanted the turf. When I mentioned I planned to put rock on the small edge area he advised the company was able to help with that also. He quickly provided me a very competitive and reasonable quote for the work. Additionally they were able to get me in very quickly for install where other companies told me 2-3 months. Was about to re-sod the Bermuda in my north facing front yard for the 3rd time. While digging up the 15 year old Rain Bird sprinkler heads I ran into leaking valves, cracked pipes, and finally biting ant colony's. I was done, no more fighting this eyesore water guzzling, sprinkler leaking, lawn mowing, winter rye re-seeding total waste of time & money "real grass lawn" here in Arizona. Enough was Enough! I marched into the Synthetic Grass Superstore in Mesa and within 10 minutes picked out the natural looking 60 weight Kentucky Blue. Knowing better then to try an install it myself, a quick call to their sister company AZ Turf Masters had a designer at my doorstep when I got home. Chris listened carefully to my needs and the next thing I knew we worked out a raised contoured front lawn with a fully functional putting green, chipping fringe, with a full swing area in my limited space backyard. AZ Turf Master installed it yesterday, the practice area/putting green came out better then I imaged and the contoured front lawn looks absolutely amazing, no way anyone could tell it's synthetic. My neighbor commented on how good it looks, but snily said "yea but it won't last" ... little does he know. I can't wait to rub-it-in this fall when he out there re-seeding and my lawn still looks perfect. What a great fantastic looking quality job. We had about 1600 sq ft to cover for both front and back yards including some more intricate strips and cuts. It all turned out amazing. Highly disappointed. Our small backyard project of gravel, paver border and turf that should have only taken "1-1/2 to 2 days" stretched out to 3 weeks, 3 different visits (2 of which were corrections) by 2 different crews. Week1: The scheduler ended up calling 90 minutes into the arrival window informing me the crew's truck broke down so she would have to reschedule for a different crew to come the following day, but that they would be provided the job details for our project. After 2 days of work, we inspected the backyard and immediately came across some discrepancies : 1. Crew never laid down the weed fabric base under the gravel, and left a large pile of gravel in the corner of our yard when it should have been spread on the sides of the house 2. the paver border was not straight and sunk down, and several issues with the corners not being done correctly 3. there were 2 large visible wrinkles in the turf along with fringes coming out from the seems, and the edges of the turf, 4. Crew left envirofill spilled all over the patio along with their other trash. 5. We also discovered the workers had been urinating on the side of our house, not only from the smell, but also from our dog who has been marking there ever since. We contacted the customer service rep regarding the corrections needed along with photos and advised about the urine. Week2: The scheduler had the same crew come back out that Friday to fix all discussed discrepancies. After inspecting second time: 1. Crew did lay the weed fabric on the sides of the house but did such a poor job re-laying the gravel evenly as most of it was piled up toward the house leaving large sections open where the weed fabric was visible, several piles of dirt, and about a foot of fabric showing with no gravel on it at all. Crew also forgot to lay fabric down under a section of gravel by window. 2. left large chips in pavers after correcting the sunken pavers 3. Messy job by adding concrete on the corners that should have been redone 4. Turf still had discrepancies and trash from the crew was left on our patio when we have a trash bin for use. Contacted rep again, provided pictures of discrepancies. Director of Operations came out to do a walkthrough, noted all issues and said he'd have an in house crew come out. Week3: The in house crew were by far the best - very courteous, respectful, clean, provided quality work on the corrections they were able to make, explained why they weren't able to do others, but that they would let the front office know, and left the backyard clean and tidy. They even gave a courtesy ring on the doorbell to let us know they were here to do the corrections as well as letting us know when they were done (which the first crew had not bothered to do either times). Ultimately, I wish the second crew would have been our first crew on this project because they were excellent, took pride in their work, seemed like experts in their craft and I highly doubt we would have had any issues afterward. I'm just glad this project is finally done. read more

12-28-21 They replaced about 400 square feet of artifical turf that was only 6 years old, but going bald with bare spots, the grass blades shedding, and looking like it was 50 years old. They did a great job and we now have a written warranty from a company that will hopefully be around down the road, just in case we have a similiar experience. They also lined both sides of our driveway with pavers and created a very nice curved walkway about 4' wide and 12' long to our side gate. We had Arizona Turf Masters replace our worn out putting green with new pet friendly turf. Jeri came out to our house promptly after I requested a quote on their website. She gave us an estimate for the project which was a fair and reasonable price. Once we agreed to the terms, they scheduled a time (within a couple of days) for their installers to come out and complete the work. They were there when they said they would be and did a fantastic job. They cleaned up after themselves and left no trace other than our beautiful new turf. I want to preface my review by saying the end result is absolutely beautiful and I love the feel of the grass. The missing stars are merely for the details along the way. I'll explain in detail my concerns. This review is in no way an attempt to bash them, because I do like the work. It just was not a smooth/easy process like I hoped. Jeri was our sales rep and she came out and did the measure initially. It took us some time to go through with everything but she was helpful when I had text her with any questions. When it came time to commit to things, I sent her our landscape design plans that we had professionally made and she said there were some differences from her measurements so she came back to do a remeasure. Even though her initial measurements didn't match our plans quite right, in the end it worked out and no difference in price which I appreciate. We wanted the turf installed by the time of a party at end of August and she said if there was a delay on receiving pavers for the border of the grass, she would install the grass anyway with a plastic curbing and then do the real pavers at a later date so it could be ready for the party - this was also great. Concern #1 - Fast forward to install day - the crew showed up but Jeri wasn't there so I text her asking if she would be around at all. She said no and said they had detailed drawings of what was to be done and that I could run through it with them just to make sure we were on same page. Our plan was maybe a bit different than normal plans because we had the cornhole strip and then the big patch, and the lines had to follow parallel with the wall which is not parallel to the house. I ran through the plans with the guy and he said they knew what to do. I asked about pavers though and he said they weren't doing that. I asked him why and he said they didnt have the pavers in stock so they would schedule that in future when they received them to install. I asked if this meant he was installing the plastic curbing like promised and he said no, that the plastic curbing would look bad. I tried to call Jeri and she didnt answer my call so I text her instead - I walk back outside and Jeri is on the phone with the guy. She apparently worked it out with him for the pavers (which WERE in stock, so he was either dishonest or just mistaken). Concern #2 - Early into the install, we see them start dumping all the quarter minus over our gravel. This made my wife concerned so I contacted Jeri to ask about it. Initially, we were told gravel would be moved so I didn't understand why it was being covered. Jeri said this was normal and they were using it for the extra depth to make it level. Sounded ok at the time but I realized later the contract states up to 3" of Quarter Minus so I feel like they were just trying to save on cost. This will tie into concern #5. Concern #3 - As they got into laying pavers by our back wall, the angle of the paver line they were creating ended up being way off and was not parallel with the wall like it should have been. My wife corrected this luckily but it could have been bad if we hadn't noticed. They were able to take the pavers out of the mortar and move the line. This was clear in our landscape design plans we gave. Concern #4 - Later into the day they were nearly done with the big patch and made a mention of finishing up so we asked them about the cornhole strip (which hadnt been started at all). Turns out the guys had no idea about the cornhole strip at all and thought they were doing just the big patch. Miscommunication between office and crew. I asked him about when it would be done and again he claimed there was no pavers. Said they used up all they had. I contacted Jeri and she said this wasn't true - that there were more pavers and they would get the job done (again dishonest crew?) Because of this, they didn't do the cornhole strip that day, or the next day, but came back on Saturday (original install was Thursday, so only 2 days later). While its not the end of the world... it was just another thing in what was becoming a list of things that I had to stay on top of them for. Concern #5 - Going back to #2, because the gravel wasn't moved, after they finished the large area I realized it was a tripping hazard because there was a decent step down into gravel from the paver/grass area. I asked them to ensure the gravel from cornhole area gets moved so that way we aren't creating a liability for me when this is all finished. They said the gravel would be moved. When the cornhole area got installed however, they really didn't move the gravel and later claimed there wasn't enough to move (this isn't true though). Frank in the office argued with me saying there was nothing on contract for "demo" meaning to move the gravel - I told him I was just going by what Jeri told us. In the end after a bit of back and forth, Jeri did make it right and they brought me out some more gravel to eliminate the potential hazard. read more

UPDATED REVIEW: The owner reached out to me swiftly after posting the previous review. he was not aware of current issues i had been experiencing. He apologized made a visit himself to inspect the green. After trying to roll it he agreed it needed to be replaced. Tim organized the date and time for the reinstall quickly and communicated at all times . I believe this was just a case of miss communication from a former employee. We had turf installed in September 2019 which was a HUGE job. The turf was defective and they agreed after numerous photo documentation and even a visit by the company president. The turf should be replaced via the warranty. They continue to promise it will be done ASAP and then never a follow up to schedule. The outbreak of Covid-19 is no excuse as this has been an ongoing issue for months. We have been patient and are very disappointed in their service. We do NOT recommend this company! read more

I met Breanna at the Home and Landscape show about a year or two ago. She was the nicest and most knowledgeable out of all of the people that I met with at the show. I was so happy that a year to later when I was ready to pull the trigger that Breanna was still available to help me. The crew that did the installation was great as well. Got an estimate from Lisa P in 2018. Shocked at high price. We then waited 2 MORE YEARS until it became more common and more companies doing it. Emailed again and asked if price has come down yet. Mary C responds and says Lisa P no longer works there. Says price is still normal. We ended up waiting ANOTHER 6 months and then decided we would pay it. We wanted to see samples again at Mohawk location first. Walked in and said we wanted to set up for install. Frank R asked us where? Buckeye AZ. He said we had to go thru the Avondale location. Gave me Jeri E's business card. We left and called Jeri. She came out and estimated it $600 higher than the first high bill we got! She was also confused about how the grass was cut around or set under the boulders. The only thing I asked from Jeri was the name of the schools that had the Pacifico grass installed so we could see a large area of that color. She NEVER followed up with me on that info. I dug thru my old emails and replied back to Mary C to see if indeed she could or could not help us thru the Mohawk location. She was fine with it. We did a video call and looked at the yard. I asked about boulder cutting and drainage issues. She mentioned having Jeri come look at it. I said Jeri has already been here. She's the one that gave me wrong info. Mary said she would call Jeri and explain it. Mary also said she would come to the house the next day at 1pm. Next day Mary emails and says she can no longer do business with me. She was upset I had Jeri come out. Said I wasn't forthright, transparent, and I was dishonest. She stated she has never had anything like this happen in 12 years of working there. I was shocked! I immediately called her to explain that's what I was instructed to do by Frank R at Mohawk. She would not answer or return messages. A few days later she did text, but stated I could only deal with Jeri. Pretty Weird! I can only guess this might be some kind of commission issue. I have 30 years in management at a big box store. I had over 20 commission associates in big ticket depts. Customers would work with someone for an hour or more and go home to think on it and come back another day and have another employee ring it up. As soon as we found out we adjusted the sale into the rightful associate's name. We NEVER took it out on the customer by SHAMING them or involved them in any way. We didn't make them grovel and apologize for what we felt was a mistake on their part. It was all done PROFESSIONALLY behind the scene. Shocking end to a 2 1/2 year journey with Arizona Turf Masters. I ended up finding a FANTASTIC turf installation company for $1,000 less and absolutely LOVE their work! If you are not into DRAMA avoid Arizona Turf Masters. read more

Brian was awesome to work with! The installation was quick (only 5 hours) and he did an amazing job. He even went above and beyond in helping me with an old drip line that we found out was leaking into the ground (which was not related to the turf install at all he just happened to stumble across it). I am very disappointed with this company. I called to get an estimate and the earliest appointment they had was one month out. I was disappointed with the wait, but understood and scheduled for the estimate. A week before them coming out they called to say the only person that could come to my house was out on vacation and would need to reschedule. Appointment was pushed another week out. On the day they were to come to my house they called an hour before and cancelled with no knowledge of when they could reschedule. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. read more
