I was surprised at some of the comments made about this care facility, because never in my dozens on unannounced visits have I found the building anything but light, bright, clean and orderly, the dining room neat and prepared for the next meal, and the quality and variety of the food excellent. I toured many local care facilities before placing Mom here, and I can tell you Boone Ridge is, to my mind, head and shoulders above the rest. They qualified her the next morning and within the same day, we had THREE different team members reaching out to make appointments with us to guide us through the process, coverage, shower/bath assistance, meds, medical equipment, social worker assignee, and our AMAZING AND FABULOUS Hospice Nurse, Chantel. I don't know how we would have managed all that was happening so fast with my mom's decline without the whole team, but again, particularly the love, compassion, care, and time that Chantel gave us. Sadly, my mom passed within 2 weeks of setting up Hospice...and there again...they took over handling everything from calling the funeral home, arranging the transportation of respectfully and carefully taking my mom to her eternal home, picking up all the medical equipment, offering bereavement support for a continuing 13 months to my family, and of course....our beautiful Hospice Nurse was right there for us at the most painful moment in the end. When I call it is not a warm greeting. It doesn't make me feel safe and I just don't think that they have the right people working the counter & the desk answering phones, going on hospice or palliative care is a very stressful situation as is and whenever you're not greeted with kindness and warmth when you call a company, it definitely makes you not want to have them involved with your care at all!

I can remember him driving people to go shopping down town Salem. I loved riding along. Not sure a person could get away with that now. My grandmother on my Mother's side worked here when they first opened. I have no memory of it because I wasn't born yet. This last August my Grandma from Dad's side moved in. I stopped in a few times to see her with my doggie's, and my Son's. I thought her apartment was really cute, updated, and clean. When you walk in you smell the food. It smelled pretty good. I was hoping to get a chance to eat a meal with my Grandma. The last time I stopped was mid September. I am glad I stopped. That was the last time I was able to spend with her. My Dad said the meals were good, he went to eat with her, and so did my Aunt, and Uncle. If I lived up there I would have been there a lot. I am just glad she was able to spend her final days some what close to home, and some what familiar.

They sent Victoria, who has been an awesome caregiver. Both my parents enjoy having Victoria come weekly, and she does housework so my mother is able to do things she enjoys. She is willing to undertake other tasks, too, and that may be needed in the future. It will be easier to do so since both my parents love Victoria. Going through New Horizons takes away the bookkeeping burden of hiring an independent worker. My parents and I just hope Victoria gets enough benefits from working with the company to keep serving us.

My Mom and her friends constantly wait 45 minutes to an hour to have an order taken or be served. Stale bread sandwiches, The cake is so stale you cannot cut it with a fork!! The other night a new resident sat for an hour alone at a table waiting for is order to be taken even after the other guests told the servers he had not even had is order taken, He finally started walking back to his room hungry and unfed when the waitress finally followed down the hall to take his order. Meals with friends are a highlight of the day for my Mom and her friends. Both my Mom and her friends have complained to Diane the person in charge of the facility and also written complaints in the suggestion box, To no avail! My Mom purchases food to eat in her room as she sometimes just cant muster up the patience for a 2 hour lunch or dinner. The cost to live here is not cheap and meals are included in the cost, But if you can't get fed... There is no value.

He hosted the lunch today for 23 people who also listened to a presentation by Rob Mill from CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). He told us how to take immediate steps to be prepared for any natural disaster. It was a great day and Alberto and Emerald Gardens made it perfect! Everyone I've encountered at Emerald Gardens is friendly, professional and very helpful--especially Alberto! Thank you so much for all you do for the Senior Center!

More like a thank you letter…read more Probably not the easiest review to write, but necessary to help others dealing with the same circumstances. I have a family member living here and has unfortunately has gone into Hospice care. This week has been very difficult for me and my family to say the least. I do want to say, we've all been very impressed by the professional, compassionate and sometimes thankless work they do daily. It's HARD work. The profession I'm in works hand in hand with housing such as Emerald Gardens. To me, many folks that work at some of these facilities and with Hospice are "angels walking among us" I am reminded that there are wonderful caring people in this world.. Even though our family is hurt and saddened by the loss of a family member, we all feel we were in good hands and more importantly our loved one was in good hands and acknowledged, respected and understood by the staff here, and that, brings some comfort to us.
