At least, ever since the Sushi Station and Egawa disappeared off the brink of Jindalee (owned by the same people) the people of centenary have long yearned for a good japanese place to get food.
Sushi 79 recently opened its doors (November 2011) and it's a little shop with 2 small tables run by 3 friends who live in Richlands who have never owned a Japanese Restaurant before. They are Japanese for starters I thought this can't be bad.
They cook everything fresh! They sauce everything authentic and when the food is ready (it's a 2 man kitchen so sometimes you will be waiting a while for your food) it tastes every bit authentic as if you were to go to a Japanese Restaurant in the city. The Yakisoba was really delightful, the vegies were cut delicately just like it should be, the sauce was not overpowering and the noodles were pretty cooked to perfection. The chicken was pre-marinated so tasted super good and it was so yummy my son and I finished it really quick.
They also have seaweed, edamame, kyoza (gyoza?) and everything is spelt out for you on the board on the left when you enter. The prices for the entrees are really reasonable starting at $3 for the edamame.
Along with the freshly made sushi, they have cool bento boxes as well with beef gyudon and chicken katsu, comes with a miso soup, salad and some dumplings with rice. Great value at $9-$11 depending on which one you want. It would be an idea to pre-order over the phone before you came here for food as they are only 2 men in a big kitchen and still nutting out what it is to handle a semi-busy crowd. I'm a big fan of this place, at last, some yummy Japanese in Jindalee! We've been waiting for a long time. read more
