This guy knows his stuff! He's strong and his knowledge and skill are remarkable. As with many Asian massage shops, language can be a little challenging at times, but we worked through it. I have found this style, known as "Tui na" to be the most therapeutic as well as relaxing type of massage. As I said, there are several here and out of curiosity I have visited each one at lest once. Many are okay but only a few really stand out as excellent! I can positively say that Golden Hands Massage is one of the few I consider excellent. Always great and professional. NOW... a new massuese has joined and put Golden Hands at the top of the list. Her name is Amy. I talked to the owner Coco as I have been here a few times for a great massage. Turns out Amy is not only an amazing and skilled massuese, but has also been a teacher in the art of Tui Na! It doesn't get any better than this if this the style of massage you enjoy. She is also cheerful and checks in to see if all is going well. Yes... there is sometimes a language issue as there often are at Asian massage businesses, but Amy is able to use her translation app or you can use your own if you really need to say more than yes, no, great and thanks. By the way... if you go for the harder pressure, keep in mind this takes a lot of physical prowess and energy so tip extra, though any tip should be generous as the price you pay does not go one hundred percent to the therapists. I tried calling ahead, but someone hung up on me while I was in the middle of asking if she was available. I still went because it had been a long week of work, lifting, and distance running. There was a younger lady who gave me a massage and it was probably the worst one I have ever received. She didn't even try and barely even touched me. She spent more time rubbing my head than my actual body. I'm a very clean individual so it was perplexing. I have never had such an experience. The session felt rushed toward the end. The real issue came with tipping and payment. The advertised rate is $100 for 90 minutes (plus tax, making it $105). I tipped $50--a generous 50%--but Tina seemed very disappointed and pressed for more, saying she usually gets $60 tip for an hour (implying even more for 90 minutes). She became confrontational, comparing me to her other customers who tip higher. When paying at the counter, there was confusion over change (language barrier didn't help), and the manager/owner? joined in, escalating things. They positioned themselves in a way that felt blocking, and despite yielding somewhat, paying well over the service cost (total around $175+ including the large tip), they still pushed for more with overflowing sarcastic "thank yous" as I left. A strong massage shouldn't come with guilt-tripping or high-pressure tactics over tips. Standard tipping etiquette for massages is 15-20% (higher for exceptional service), and $50 on $105 was already well above that. If the business relies so heavily on outsized tips to make up for low base prices, they should be upfront about expectations. I won't return, and I'd advise others to clarify all costs--including expected tips--before starting. There are plenty of legitimate massage options in Greeley that treat customers with respect and transparency.
