It's soooooooooooooo tall! This thing is huge and goes way up into the sky!!! You can't miss the stratosphere. It stands so tall and really stands out. I would be scared to go up to the top though. I have a fear of heights. So, I would hate every minute of that and probably have a panic attack lol I could see how it would be an amazing experience if you don't have a fear of heights. The Strat is a bit of a trek from the main strip but the walk had its moments which I passed by some iconic chapels. The area was a bit sketchy. But really the whole Vegas experience was. Heading to the top was a cool experience, though the weather was not favorable at all. It was so cold that I could only be on the roof deck for a minute before dashing inside. The view was worth seeing. But having a private event taking up the best indoor spot was a letdown. Still, I tried to make the most of it. Now, if there's one thing they got right was the drinks. Easily the strongest I had in Vegas, which earned them some points in my book. Seating was limited...first come first serve, which meant a lot of the available spots were filled with families and kids. Little ones running around lose. Not exactly the vibe I expected. For the price, it feels a little steep considering it's an older attraction, but it's one of those bucket list Vegas experiences you do once and move on. read more

We were there for two nights. Let's start from the parking lot , aesthetically was horrible the ceilings were full of shoe marks. People literally take the time to leave their shoe prints on every single lot level. Inside the Casino it seemed pleasantly clean and modern and so did our room upon arrival. As our day progressed we were regretting our booking with them. There was no ice in the ice machines. The customer service at the front desk, was useless. She said to just look for another machine. To find out none of the machines on our floor had ice. On a day where the degrees were 106 you would think they would be on top of their ice! Their blankets had HOLES on them. Here is your FIY, if you are spending the night they will not vacuum unless you request also their is no trash can in the room except for the restroom. My boyfriend and I went Saturday, October 2 arrived at 9pm ish. We got tickets from Groupon and got the unlimited rides. This was my first time here. Tbh, I never knew there were rides on The Strat! I've been in Vegas more than 10 times and never known. It was so confusing where all the rides were since there were no one lining up for rides. You have to go to different floor if you want to ride the Big Shot. But the other 2 rides (Insanity and X-Scream) , you can stay on the same floor. When we got there, there wasn't a lot of people. All the lines to the rides were so short. We didn't even wait long. One time, we got to do it again without leaving the seats because there were no one waiting in line. If you get dizzy or kind of dizzy, I DONT RECOMMEND INSANITY. Just don't! Everyone in our group, random people, said they wanted to throw up after the ride stopped. It was super dizzy!!!! Not worth it. If you want to try it, MAKE SURE ITS THE LAST RIDE YOU GO ON!! YOU DONT WANT TO BE DIZZY AND UNABLE TO GO ON OTHER RIDES. It was the longest line too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND X-SCREAM!!! For our 3-year anniversary, I planned out a night at The Strat, located at the very north of the Vegas strip. This was one of the most incredible things we've done in Las Vegas on any of our trips. We suggest kicking off your night at the amusement park then getting dinner at Top of the World -- both located on top of The Strat. We kicked off our night around 6:30 PM, to enjoy Unlimited Rides atop The Strat's 1,149-foot-tall tower, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. In fact, it's taller than the Eiffel Tower and Seattle's Space Needle, just to give you some perspective. An unlimited ride wristband ($59) gives you access to the observation deck and the 3 rides on top of the Strat Hotel. Our recommendation is to call ahead to see what rides are open since wind, repairs or just generally bad weather can shut it down. During our visit, 2 of the 3 rides were open. First up, the X-Scream. Remember those super fun teeter-totters from your childhood? Well, X-Scream is sort of like that. Except it's a bit more high-tech. And it sits atop the tallest building west of the Mississippi instead of in a kiddie playground. From here, we moved over to the other open ride called Insanity (once again, appropriately named). The ride dangles you high above the Vegas strip for some gorgeous views. Or if you're afraid of heights, some therapy bills for later! We recommend planning dinner at Top of the World at The Strat AFTER your amusement park adventure. As you can imagine, it wouldn't be fun for anyone if you got sick on the rides. The strat thrill rides are so fun to go check out if you like getting on the big rides. So to start you have to pay 30 bucks to go to the top of the stratosphere. This is a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing is that by charging this prevents the place from being over crowded at the top. The bad thing is that you have to pay to go up and for each ride you get on. But your in vegas get used to spending money lol. When you are at the top there are roller coasters, and other scary rides for thrill seekers to ride. Theres also a little snack shop that sells chips, sandwiches and alcoholic drinks. Stratosphere at 113 stories and 1149 feet is the tallest tower in Vegas. Pay 34.95 each (weekend price, pay more if you want to ride more than one ride), take the elevator up (the operator on the way up said it was a 37 second elevator ride, the elevator down operator said it's 15 seconds), and you end up with an amazing view of all of Las Vegas and its environs and your choice of three rides Big Shot (catapults you straight up then drops you down), Insanity (a sort of short track roller coaster that takes you to the edge of the track at an extreme angle looking straight down 109 stories) and X-Scream (spins you around a cable in a single seat). We chose Big Shot which is something like a mini Guardians of the Galaxy at Disney Adventure Park, with a better view. However the ride isn't really that great as it takes you straight up once only and that's it - all downhill from there. Would be much scarier if it shot you up twice as you don't know what to expect the first time and it's over before you have a chance to get much of an anticipation scare. There is also a bungee type ride in a sky diving suit at over a hundred $ a pop. The view from the top of the Stratosphere is five stars fabulous and the only thing that comes close is the Foundation Room or other rooftop view from Mandalay Bay. read more

The hotel is so-so but the tower is freakin' 'cool. I mostly hate the Space Needle in my home town for a litany of reasons that have come around during the last decade. From the ridiculous amount they charge now to go up it to their botched design contest they ran a few years back where they basically screwed most of their contestants. I'm done with them. Since I got them on the evening news by exposing their garbage, I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual. The only reason it took so long to check the Sky Jump off the bucket list is because I simply cannot stand Vegas. If it weren't for that other important event I had to attend, it would have stayed active on that list much longer. It was an idea concocted by my baby cousin, and being extremely supportive of him, I went on to be his partner in crime. The plan was to do it on a Friday. He was quite prepped - he made the call to make reservations for the afternoon. Unfortunately, the jump itself was on standby due to high winds. Ugh... ... and by the time it was ready, we were already in the middle of doing something else which we couldn't get away from. We were determined to do it the very next day, "NO MATTER WHAT!" Luckily, the weather Gods were on our side that day. Except we didn't make reservations. But we got quite lucky: there were two available openings 30 minutes after we walked in. NOTE: It takes 15 minutes to prep, so make sure you give yourself some wiggle time. For those who have gone: GREAT! For those who haven't: I'm not gonna go into detail because I don't want to form ideas in your head. But the ONE thing I can honestly truly say is this: the experience is out of this world. Practically. Oh, and then there's that amazing view!!!! The staff was fantastic. They were determined your harness and everything that goes with it is secured properly. They really made us feel safe! TIP: If you plan on only doing this ONCE, get the whole package: the jump, the picture(s) and the wrist cam. Spend the dough - IT IS WORTH IT. Would I do it again?! Level 109! The outdoor Observation Deck and the thrill rides are located on Level 109. We felt a little daring one day and hubby and I purchased unlimited rides (until 1:00a) to experience the three thrill rides on the Stratosphere Tower. First we took a spin on the Insanity! which made me more dizzy than anything. Ugh! We were dangling 983 feet above the Strip. The ride spins passengers at up to 3G's and reaching speeds of up to 40 mph at 70° angle. This ride may not be for you if you easily get dizzy like me. Next at 866 feet above the Strip we took a plunge over the edge on the XScream! Whee! that was actually fun! We sat in the front seats to get the most thrill out of the ride. We dangled weightlessly 109 stories in the air. Then we came back to the deck that evening to ride the Big Shot which was on Level 112. This ride was 1149 feet above the Strip where you blast up 160ft. straight in the air and free falling back down... I might have left my heart up there at some point. You won't find a bigger thrill in all of Las Vegas than these rides. You'd have to be "insane in the membrane"... pure crazy fun! If you're staying in the Stratosphere you get a discount. Tower admission plus all-day pass is $28/person (regular $36). There are various packages available for the rides. Do not go to the Concierge's desk to purchase these tickets. Ticket sales counter is located right by the escalators heading to/from the theater. Don't forget to view your pictures at the end of each ride which are optional to purchase. While you're up there take a look at the majestic Las Vegas Valley for your viewing pleasure. We did not do the Sky Jump. It wasn't part of the unlimited rides and cost $120 per jump. I wasn't actually planning on riding this - I felt like it would be the "worst" of the rides available on the Stratosphere (less the jumping off the building one) but once I did Big Shot 5 times and Insanity once, I figured I couldn't go home NOT having done this one too. There were no lines thanks to the mid-week 108 degree middle of the day hotness, BUT there were enough people that I wasn't able to get the front, only the third row. Honestly, it was comparatively tame. I'm not saying it wasn't freaky having the feeling you were about to fall off the side of the Stratosphere, but in the third row (and most likely in all rows except for the front) you had so much in front of you that it's hard to see straight down to the ground. In the other rides, you are measurably separated from the Stratosphere - Big Shot throws you way up (so you can't see it) and Insanity dangles you a good distance off the side. The further back you are in X-Scream, the more connected to the building you feel, which takes away from the "I think i'm falling off now" feeling. It's worth the ride as part of the unlimited pass, no matter what row you get. However, if you buy a single ticket for X-Scream only, you best be sitting in the front to get the most for your money. read more

The Big Shot is the only Stratosphere Thrills ride I have taken, but I loved it. You can't miss the Stratosphere. It's at the end of the strip. The Big Shot is the ride at the very top that BLASTS you up, then free falls down. I heard of some only getting one shot up, but after three I stopped counting. So much fun! This "mini" amusement park is not for the faint-hearted. It's located on top of the Stratosphere, the tallest building in Las Vegas. Tickets cost us about $30 in bestofvegas.com and they included access to the tower and unlimited rides. If you buy it on their website is much more expensive. The 360 degree views from the observation deck are sick! They also have a bar inside with slushies which is perfect for those 90-100 degree weather days. We got on the Big Shot and Insanity and they were both awesome, a little crazy too so we ended up skipping X-Scream - we tried but the seats were too hot and we were too scared anyways lol Being that high really intensifies the fear. Lines were pretty short & staff was friendly. If you're in Vegas, have a few hours to kill, and you're looking for an adrenaline rush, this is it. WARNING!! HORRIBLE EMPLOYEE ENCOUNTER WARNING!! BEWARE This is by far, the worst employee encounter my husband and I have EVER had. May 2nd 2018 @830 pm. Going to the Stratosphere for the first time in 20 years, my husband and I decide to visit the property and observation deck to see the new renovations on the property. After buying our tickets ($20/person - $40/total) we headed to the mandatory security check. Told to empty our pockets and my purse, we comply. Then walking thru the metal detector, my husband sounds. Selected for additional screening, the security guard tells my husband to come forward to be wanded. Once thru the metal detector and after wanding, the customer path leads you thru an obligatory "photo booth" with a 3rd party photography vendor. It was at this point my husband is aggressively approached by a "photographer" and told "YOU NEED TO LISTEN NEXT TIME!" My husband has a brief interaction with this employee where he repeats "LISTEN NEXT TIME YOURE TOLD SOMETHING." The screening security guard breaks them up and we head to the observatory deck. When we exit and head back downstairs we stop to ask for the supervisor on duty, as this encounter had ruined our evening and upset up both. When we ask the employee for his name, with a smug smile he says "Joaquin". I say "Great, thanks for being an A**hole." And then wait for a manager. I explained what happened to the managers on duty and they apologized. However this odd and extremely offensive encounter is TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR. This failure of a pathetic employee was looking for a fight. Unprofessional and inexcusable. "Joaquin" should be fired for treating guests like this. How many guests did this happen to tonight? Insanity is one of the four rides that are part of the "Stratosphere Thrills" at the top of the 1,149 foot Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. It was first ride I rode on my first visit to Stratosphere Tower - it decidedly was not what I had expected. I made a point to not read the reviews for this ride so my enjoyment could be enhanced by surprise... In the first batch of riders for the day, I walked through the entrance looked over the edge of the platform at the Las Vegas Strip down below before focusing my attention on the ride. I had been hoping the ride entail some kind of plummet/drop relating to the edge of the tower and I almost convinced myself that was exactly what I was getting. After being seated in one of the cars, when the guard rail dropped open, things looked really promising! Unfortunately, it quickly turned out that if there's only one action word allowed for this description, it would be "gentle" - Insanity is the World's highest merry-go-round! To be fair, it's a little bit more than that. It's actually a standard circular chair spin ride with a twist. That twist is the fact you're suspended off the side of the tallest skyscraper West of the Mississippi. As the ride speeds up the centrifugal force pushes the chairs out so your focus is shifted straight down. It's actually a surprisingly relaxing and pleasant ride - just not what I was hoping for. Insanity is the least thrilling of the three "normal" rides on Stratosphere tower. Anywhere else this would be a two-star ride at best, but given the location, the height, and the view, I can't really give it less than three stars. read more

The rides themselves are subpar, they really aren't anything special and if you're looking for a theme park type ride or activity for the day, I wouldn't recommend here for that. The wait is also very long, not just for the rides, but just to get up to the rides, as the elevators only can carry so many people. On top of that, the ticket service is terrible, we bought online tickets, were allowed to upstairs without a wristband, but then were turned back at the top for not having the bands, even though we were allowed to ride the other rides before then.
