Saying that, the lady who served us just shortly before closing didn't really like us being in the shop for some reason, although she did perk up when she sold me some cheese. A nice touch is also that Belhaven will smoke any fish that you have caught yourself. The shop also sells other local trade such as Thistly Cross cider, and rhubarb rum (latter is fab!), but is a little lacking in options so much so that I would go to farm shops in the area to pick up goods other than the fish itself there. It does distribute to the local area as well, and is readily available.

This draws out moisture and infuses flavour. The sides are then gently smoked over oak chips for up to 24 hours, under the watchful eye of our skilled smokers. We also smoke cheddar cheese, goats cheese and butter.

    We have come back from North Berwick today from a week's holiday, we had to leave a review of the…read morebest butchers in the town, excellent service and very helpful with the customers, such a pleasure to purchase our meat from them, we often go up to stay at North Berwick, and the staff always remember us from the last time we were there, excellent choice of meat and very tasty pies. Keep to the excellent service you provide. We bought a lot of stuff from the butchers whilst we were there, even the local honey is very tasty my mum bought 4 jars of honey to bring home to Carlisle. This is a beautiful little shop, very clean looking that supplied a lot of very fine looking traditional Scottish cuts. Their main raw meat counter was splendidly well presented with prices clearly shown and the counter not too tightly packed, sometimes giving you too much to look at and confusing the customer in the process. The gents that were working here were very polite and didn't mind me looking around the shop but not wanting to buy anything although I easily could have spent a LOT of my wages in here. More so on their pie/cooked counter, with items from mince pies and haggis/gravy pies to sausage rolls and mince rounds available to purchase. Locally produced jams and vegetables were on offer here too which was a very nice touch, cementing this butcher as a vital part within the North Berwick town centre.
