The name of this place is a bit laughable, I must admit. When I first moved to Dunbar and saw this place with its flashy orange writing and cartoon carrot mascot, I was a bit skeptical about going inside, but once I did get in I was hit with the scent of fresh fruit and veggies which is lovely.
The shop itself is quite large and has two floors. Upstairs, you have your fruit, vegetables and yogurt coated raisins and peanuts (which I must say are delicious!) and downstairs you have spices and herbs. Sometimes they do a deal where you can get a bag of assorted fruit for £1 but this only seems to happen once every blue moon.
The staff are very helpful and chatty and will show you where you can find things, as well as inform you of the source of the greens, which is useful as you do wanna know where your food is coming from.
The last time I was in here, there was a carrot plush mixed in with all the others which made me laugh a bit.
It does make a nice change to buying the mass produced fruit sold at Asda and the Co-Op but it is slightly expensive. And if you do shop here, the money goes to the local economy and not to the capitalist system taking over Scotland, which is always good. read more
