Horrible! As so many others have stated they are RUDE! We have stopped in a couple of times and you have to force them to engage with you. Our most recent time will be the last time. We are planning a substantial sized patio with fireplace and stonewall so wanted to talk to someone about stone options. We had to force someone to even say hi and with that they didn't ask if they could help. So we stopped another guy who said "I gotta close the gate in the back" and he just walked away. Too bad they are so terrible, they have lots of options but no way am I being treated that poorly and then handing over thousands $$. I'll find someone else to do business with. read more

I will never do business with this place again!!! Stay away!!! My fiance and I ordered one ton of black onyx stones that we picked fron their display inside the store (see pictures attached). Gray slate stones were delivered the next day which were not close to the black onyx stones we saw on display. I left a voice mail and two emails and then called again the following day before finally getting the owner who said that he would look into it and call me back... He didnt call back but emailed me and said that they delivered black nugget stones.... I went back to their store with several stones and he said " hey buddy, they are black onyx, "and he took them into the a bathroom and wet them and said ... " here buddy, i washed them and they are black and i dont wash stones... it only looks gray because of quarry dust" ...5 minutes later when these stones dried, they were once again gray slate stone ..... Rude, unprofessional, condescending and a blatant bait and switch..... see pictures attached!!! I even washed all the stones twice myself and it doesnt look anything like their display picture that i attached.... i only wish that i would have read prior reviews and taken my business elsewhere....!!! We got some crushed stone here a few times this past summer. A good selection of size & colors . They also have landscaping bricks and all kinds of cut stone for any type project. Pay by the pound (they have a truck scale) and they loaded the stone for us in the back of our truck. Service was ok, uneventful. Prices fair to moderate. read more

The owner is not helpful but one of the young men was. We ordered a granite step and were told it be delivered on Wednesday. I called Thursday after no delivery and no update. The owner was not interested in going through invoices to even check if the piece was even ordered. The following Tuesday it shows up sitting on the front lawn. No call or knock on the door. They could have put the 700 pound granite much closer, even in place but they are not about customer service. We like to buy local but in future it will be worth the couple dollars extra to go elsewhere. The prices are competitive but not really cheaper. The delivery charges from out of town were the extra cost. But there are plenty of local places for rocks read more

About 3 weeks ago, my husband and I went to stoneyard to shop for some pavers and a new granite mailbox post. We should've seen the first red flag when we went shopping for some pavers and no one was very helpful or knowledgeable. Just a bunch of people standing around pretending to be busy. The owner was apparently the only one with answers and he didn't seem to be available. Despite our first meeting, we ordered a mailbox post and our credit card was charged. The man behind the desk said it should be in their possession by the end of the week. Fine, sounds good. Two weeks later we had to call them to ask for an update (on a Monday). My husband was put on hold for 10+ minutes because no one knew the answer. My husband hung up and called back later on, was also put on hold again for a period of time. They said the post had arrived and they would call us to schedule a delivery/installation. Fast forward to Friday, no phone call. The landscaping company shows up unannounced Friday morning. My husband went out to check to see if it was the correct post. It was not. They disappear, not giving us any information as to when they will be back. The same landscaping company shows up hours later. I tell them to hold a minute because my husband wanted to double check the post before they installed it. Within 5 minutes, and by the time I ran in to get my husband, they already had the post in the hole and filled it in. They spoke to my husband for a moment and took off to their next job. They installed the mailbox post too high. Rather than hire these goons to come back and fix it, forget it. We will just fix it ourselves. Ordered pavers and stairs from them. There were several misunderstandings with the orders (because the staff doesn't seem to want to help the average person who doesn't know a lot about landscaping, and answering questions is a bother) and they were not helpful with addressing them. Would not return our calls, and we went in to discuss in person, told us "Not my problem." Good selection and priced right, but I'd rather pay a bit more elsewhere and be treated decently. I talked to three different landscapers, who told us they wished they had known we were going there, because they would've told us to steer clear, and they advise their clients not to go there. read more

Do not use them!!!!I called saturday to order pool sand to be delivered this tuesday. Was charged 253.50. When I found out Sun that the pool wasn't coming, I just called to cancel and they refuse to fully refund me. They are tell me that they can only refund me 190. The rest is a "restocking fee". Wont let me speak to management. No warning of this on their website. I was told "there is a sign on the wall in our office"....I placed my order on the phone and was not told this. They then explain this is to pay the credit card fee. Quite a hefty cc fee! Never again. read more

I purchased a few pallets of large natural rock slab steps for installation in a boulder retaining wall. I visited their yard on a Friday afternoon and picked out the pallets I wanted. Myles (a young guy who works there) helped take my order and coordinate the delivery, which took place the following Tuesday. I conveyed to Myles that it was very important to me that the stone be delivered on time on the day agreed upon, and that it be placed in a particular spot on my property. Myles made sure this happened as planned, and I can say I am very satisfied with the price I paid, the correspondence I had with those who work at The Stone Yard, and the delivery process. I will look to this place again if I have future needs for stone or hardscape supplies. read more

I have gone to The Stone Yard on many occasions and they have a great variety of products on hand. A great place to window shop and get ideas.We needed to do a walkway in Manufactured Bluestone and the selection and price can be beat. They have a large yard you can walk through plus a courtyard with paving stones, retaining walls and fire pits to see product that is assembled. Like many walk in and call in companies they can get very busy and keep that in mind when you go. When you order 150 square feet of stone it is not like ordering a Big Mac! They loaded my truck twice, no problems. I was very satisfied with the stones and service. I dealt directly with the owner. I highly recommend The Stone Yard. Pat read more

Recently purchased Cambridge Armour Tech product. They promised a delivery date - never called and delivered the product and dumped in the driveway on wrong date. New construction so the placement/timing was important. I called the office they said they did not know driver had taken the product.???? The install was the worst part - the product was delivered with several CRACKED stones. They said that was impossible. Basically called me a liar and was very disconcerting. I WILL NEVER buy any product there again - They are rude and extremely dishonest. I guest you learn a lot about companies when you are building a home. There are PLENTY of other places to buy product. Cambridge was not very helpful either! I will continue to try and contact both but lost money! DO NOT DO IT!! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Owner is not helpful. Was told a specific delivery date and I would be first Stop at 830 am but nothing and then called back and said noontime. Called back again and said 4 and said it would def be today. Then 5 rolls around and calls to say it would be tomorrow on a Saturday!. So I wasted an entire day waiting for them only to never show up. On top of that they contract mailbox posts installation and one month later my mailbox is still being held on by a bungee cord becaus they broke the bracket. I personally have never had such bad customer service. I ordered almost 1000$ in cap stone from the stone yard in Salem NH. I was told that they would take about 2 days to come and I would get a call once they arrived. I received no phone call. I called them five days later figure out what was going on. I was told they would be there on Friday and I would get a call. I received no call. Monday 1 hour before they close I decided to go in and demand to know whats going on. The cashier was rude and disrespectful. He said the caps wont be there until Wednesday and that he would call and let me know either way. Well I received no call. I decided to call 1 hour before close to see if they were in. I was told they wont be in until Thursday and that he didn't have time to argue and hung up the phone. We got stones for a fire pit last summer. They told us how to do it, what to remember, and delivered a great product when it was promised. This year I went back to discuss building a wall to deal with water issues and he told me because I live on a lake, the blocks I was considering would not be environmentally responsible because of the lyme in them. I order crushed stone for my driveway and sometimes mulch. They always come when they say they will and are very courteous.

I will never return to this store to buy material. I witnessed the owner yelling at customers in an ignorant and cocky attitude. Over the years all of the employees have been respectful and considerate towards my family and I when we have projects going at our house. The owner, however, is the most selfish and ignorant man I have ever met. He told me in his exact words "to get the f*** out of his store" because I was upset that he was a week late delivering the material when he told me it would take 2 to 3 days. It took a week and a half. I would never recommend this place to anyone else. It need new ownership. He needs to step down and let his son take over the business. Until then, I recommend Hudson Quarries or Freshwater Farms. They both treat their customers with dignity and respect. Even Acres Edge, work with the customers.
