Found this vender at a local farmers and tried mini apricot pie and challah last week. I was counting down the days until I could go back and get more! Can't rave enough about how amazing these things were. The pies are in a unique crust, almost like a cross between a cookie or cake or shortbread maybe? Challah is so fluffy and delicious. My husband and I were craving some baked goods. Normally we are either working or not up early enough to treat ourselves to fresh baked goods but the stars aligned and we found ourselves here. It smelled incredible as you can expect from a bakery, my husband even commented that he was certain that even the air had a butter flaky smell. Everything in the case was beautiful. Perfect cheesecakes, big cookies, croissants that looked flaky and wonderful. We took home a strawberry croissant, a black and white cookie, a loaf of rosemary bread, a chocolate cheesecake and at the last minute decided to add a chicken empanada. We sat and shared the empanada at the bakery. It was incredible. It wasn't too doughy, there must have been spices cooked into the bread, the potatoes inside were perfect and the chicken was moist! It was a wonderful treat that we hadn't even planned to get. We later split the croissant as well and I can assure you the next time I go back in I will get one for myself so I don't have to share it hahaha! It was VERY VERY good!!!! Tried the Country French Bread and it was GREAT! They have the flavor just right. Also tried the Napoleons but honestly thought it was only fair.... the filling inside was lacking real flavor and was actually served frozen not giving me a whole lot of confidence on when it was actually baked. The little tarts in the bakery case looked nice but I didn't try them and I wish I had tried the fresh fruit tart over cream filling as it look really perfect. There were only a couple of each desert in the case so I assume they are more a bread bakery and the deserts are only a side line. If I lived in the area I probably would gain some weight on the bread as I know I woujld go back and try other flavors. read more

I've never been to their actual bakery, but do purchase from them at the farmers market. I'm always impressed! Their muffins and cookies are our favorite. If they took credit cards at the farmers market I would purchase more! read more

I purchased their strawberry shortcake as a last minute birthday cake and it was amazing! The cake was light and fluffy and so was the frosting. I'm really pleased and will be returning to try their other desserts. I also purchased their jalapeño bread and it was the best I've ever had! read more

Went back for those beef empanadas I liked so much and arrived about 10 minutes after they opened. Asked for 2 to go and went a couple of doors down to buy tea to enjoy with my empanadas. I pull one out of the bag and it's cold. Not room temp, not lukewarm, c-o-l-d. Very strange considering they were in the case under a heat lamp. Is it asking too much for the employee to have asked if I needed them heated or to at least mention they're not ready to eat? read more

Oh me oh my...This place(eyes rolling) oh my goodness. I can't tell you how wonderful the goodies are from this place. It smells delectable when you walk through the door...I went in for a loaf of bread but came out with three loaves and various cheese cakes(my weakness) and other types of cakes such as key lime, and carrot. The brownies were good too. The cheese cake was my favorite. I think it was the best I had ever had in my life and I'm old! I can't wait to visit again, whew! read more

I buy bread from these guys at the farmers' market near my house. I especially love the challah, but I don't like that they started making them smaller while still charging the same price. Not cool - I noticed. Hence the four stars. Bought a few other pastries as gifts and everyone seemed to think they were yummy. Just went by this bakery for the first time today. I was a little skeptical of the exterior look but once I stepped it that all changes. They have fresh bread galore. My daughter enjoyed the many bakery treats that they had to offer. I myself had a lime cheesecake and it was delicious. Perfect texture and visual. Picked up a blackforest tort from their ready-to-go selection. It was very good. It was a little light on the cherries and could use some kirchwasser in between the layers, but it was good. Will keep them in mind for the future. read more

Excellent bakery. Everything I have had has been top quality. Some of the best bread, crusty on the outside but soft in the middle.

We ordered rolls and pastries for our son's wedding rehearsal luncheon - 5 doz rolls and 60 assorted tarts and desserts. Everything was fresh, gorgeous and delicious and our guests were impressed. Nice people to work with too. read more

I have eaten at this bakery several times. They offer a wide variety of breads, desserts, drinks and gelatos. I pick up a loaf af their fresh bread anytime I am nearby. The have wonderful fresh-made breads, from hearty country, to dill, to a great sourdough. Their desserts are also very enjoyable, I love their napoleons. They have scones, bagels, cookies, pies and cakes. The gelatos are really a great treat. They are less fat than ice cream and in my opinon tastes better. It is very smooth. I like to get a scoop of raspberry and a scoop of vanilla. There are nice art pieces to look at , and the service is great. read more

I was so happy to find this bakery. They were the only business that came up when I searched for bakeries in Frederick (looking for bread, not just pastry), so I was skeptical. I brought home a loaf of asiago French bread to make garlic bread with, and it was amazing. Good quality cheese, perfectly fresh bread with a nice crumb. No bullshit from this place- they may not go out of their way to chat with customers but they were friendly enough to me and provided exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable cost. read more

Have bought bread from this bakery a dozen times, and it has been great every time - rye, whole grain, seeded, baguettes.

Their empanadas are delicious, but all of the other baked goods I have tried have been disappointing. I haven't tried any desserts worth finishing. Would only return for their empanadas. read more

I can't comment on the bakery experience in Frederick, not having been there, but the breads and baked goods available at the Shepherdstown Farmer's Market are always fresh, and of a quality I can't get anywhere else in the area. They have the European breads down to a science, and their whole grain breads are fantastic. The best I've had. I also enjoy the sweet treats when I feel like indulging. Check out the Easter bread with colored eggs embedded within! Its so much fun to have on the table for the holiday. I also appreciate the service at the market. I have had three bad experiences with this bakery 1 at the store 2 at the farmers market. The first time I went to the store it was 4:52, they turned the sign to closed as soon as they saw me approaching the door, they close at 5. I was only going to get a loaf of bread and it would of taken 2 mins. Then the next weekend I go to the farmers market and they are there so I decide to give them another shot, I buy some rye bread, delicious, but the lady who sold it to me didn't say one word to me. Not even a hello, I understand from the other reviews that they do not speak good English, well I would appreciated an hola better than the nothing rude stare that I got. Then today at the farmers market I decided to give them One more chance, I bought my husband an empanada which he thought was awesome, but once again a bad experience. I asked to see the empanadas which were in a hot plate because I didn't know what an empanada was and the lady working looked at me as if I have 4 heads, then I repeated my self letting her know that I didn't know what an empanada was, she rolled her eyes and opened the case for a split second and recovered it. I bought one anyways because I thought my husband would like it,4$ for like 3 bites though. She didn't say thank you once again she never said anything the whole interaction. So if you want bad service pretty good food this is the place. read more
