This closed in Sept and will reopen in Fowler. Such a disappointment as they had good food.

I've been here probably 6 or 7 times. It is nice that La Junta actually has a steak joint so I'm grateful for that. The service is good. I try not to order the cheaper cuts of meat when I go because when I did order based on a lower priced cut, I was a bit disappointed with quality. With better cuts, like ribeye, I've had some good steaks here, and I've had some not-so good steaks here (tough, gristly, just plain "no-bueno" - nearby feed-lot cattle purchases?). It's hit or miss, with misses about 50% of the time. The baked potatoes are ginormous, and can be hit or miss as well - sometimes very good, sometimes very dried out / tough (could this be a "yesterday's potato at today's price"?). Again, I'm appreciative of just plain having a place to go for peace and quiet (ambience is decent) while I have a steak dinner. But the quality of the meat and potatoes needs to be more consistent (and on the better side). Also note to management: I'd like to see the hours of operation increased a bit, not narrowed / shrunken as has been the case over the past 1-2 years. read more

We ordered a steak well done and got a charred t-bone. At $35 your expect much better quality. My medium rare ribeye was closer to well done. They did remake the charred steak BUT it came out just about as bad. The baked potatoes were hard & half raw. The butter would not even melt. The service was pretty good which I expect since the restaurant was empty. I'm very disappointed in the dining experience. I understand it's fairly new and cannot see it making it if they don't fix their quality. Do better! Pricey mediocre at best meal. read more

I love this place!! I've worked in La Junta for several years for one week every summer and I'm a little irritated with myself that I've never discovered this gem before. I ordered the 12 oz sirloin dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. First of all, the brown gravy with the mashed was the best I've had in a long time. And the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The green beans were as good as mom's (sorry mom). But the best part of the experience was the staff. So friendly and professional. I was told that I would get a 10% discount for staying at the Econolodge next door. I paid and while I was waiting I noticed that I didn't get the discount. When picking up I brought it to the waitress' attention and she graciously gave me a tequila shot no charge. I've worked 23 months on the road living out of hotels and all. I'm a CO native. It means so much to find places like The Steakhouse that offer such great food and amazing service. I will eat here every time I'm back in La Junta! Love you guys! Kudos read more

Not impressed with a steakhouse at all. We ordered a shrimp appetizer never got it and we were told when we got our meal that they didn't have shrimp. Then we ordered the ox with cornbread, and when we got our order, there was no cornbread we were told they were out of that too. Also we're on town said it had mushrooms but no mushrooms. Just carrots. Service is extremely slow. The salad bar wasn't very sad and lacking. we were sharing a plate never were offered another plate and couldn't get our server back to ask for one. We probably will never be back again. read more

This was our second time here. Facility is clean and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The mushrooms were delicious. My strip steak was good but didn't have much flavor. Husband's sirloin was the same. Cuts were good and tinder! Salad bar was fresh and had good variety. Baked potato was perfectly cooked. I got mine loaded - didn't need the extras. read more

Took my daughter and her husband to dinner tonight. we each had a 6 oz NYSteak, with a baked potato (butter and sour cream) . I had the green beans (cooked with bacon/onion) and was tasty. Daughter had baked beans, they were spicy. Son in law had cole slaw and said it was nice. They both had salad, and enjoyed the variety on it. Under $60 for all three meals. steak was cooked correctly for medium, tender and tasted very good. it isn't a five star restaurant, but more of a family restaurant. I will try it again. service was good, didn't bug us, but checked a couple of times to make should "all was good". read more

We came to a steakhouse expecting a decent steak. We each (3 of us) ordered sirloin steak. When they brought the food out it was a folded over flank steak with no seasoning. Fries that were clearly old and refried or reheated (hard on the inside and practically burned outside). The baked potato was not baked and was still hard and inedible. The only reason I gave two stars was because although the steaks were not seasoned or the correct cut of meat, they were all cooked to to the correct temperature. The environment is giving.. nursing home, and although our service wasn't terrible it was lackluster. I wanted to like this place as it's one of the only restaurants in the area but it was just.. not good. read more

This place is a hidden gem! We stayed next door and was able to walk over. We ordered the Salmon and NY strip, both were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! They have a small, but tons of options salad bar, that was very clean and fresh! The Salad also tasted wonderful. The staff was amazing, they were short handed and it seems as though the owner even jumped in and was helping. They didn't skip a beat and continued to check on us throughly. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back when in this area! read more

Came here in hopes of having a good steak and was unpleasantly surprised. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but the atmosphere seemed more like a house, than a steakhouse. Staff were friendly and somewhat attentive. With that being said me and my family were highly disappointed, the steaks were very bland and dry. Followed by lackluster sides of vegetables, Mac and loaded potato. I would not recommend this place for a good steak or a good meal. read more

We had the sampler plate, it's huge and very good. The ribs are outstanding. The steaks are very good. I had the baked potato and green beans, very good. The service is great. They cook to order, so prepare for a small wait. The drinks are large. read more

I am a local here in LJ and this restaurant has the WORST customer service, they are extremely rude and accuse you of trying to lie when you nicely try to correct them about your bill. I would not recommend this place to anyone! If I could give zero stars I would. read more
