Since Nov., 2011, I have attended Betsy Templeton's yoga class at the Wholistic Health Studio…read more Previously, I was a yoga student at a local women's club for about 8 years in an excellent experience that established much of my knowledge about proper execution of yoga postures. After the club closed, a few years passed wherein I intermittently (for various reasons mostly due to my too busy schedule) participated at several good studios, and irregularly practiced yoga on my own, until I heard about the class at WHS. Betsy's class has been wonderful. She is knowledgeable about body mechanics and is an expert at making certain that each person in the class is doing the poses, breathing, etc. correctly at each stage of the session. She "pushes you hard" to NOT push beyond your capacity or your level of ability in a way that avoids injury and overstretching. This part of her practice is an important asset that is often underemphasized in yoga. My only complaint in this aspect of this class is that occasionally, the class has been too cautious about adding skill that would stretch you farther because some in the class are "not there yet", but in opposition to this complaint, Betsy encourages and gives each individual instruction and space to move farther, as you need and desire, beyond the demand of each posture. Additionally, Betsy's instruction in how to execute various poses has been beyond any I have had in other classes. She excels in her knowledge of proper form and in teaching that aspect. Perhaps my favorite aspect of her class is her emphasis on the meditative attitude she encourages you to employ as you undertake your practice and to carry out beyond the class space into your regular life. Speaking of space, the class space at the WHS is beautiful and extremely conducive to the meditative qualities hoped for in a yoga practice.

I've turned to Julie many times for support with specific health and life goals. While I have my own extensive knowledge and experience in healing and nutrition, and even coach others in these areas as part of my business, I often look to Julie for her expertise; and in particular I value how meticulous and impeccable she is with her knowledge and research. In one instance, she helped me refine my strategy to boost my body's immune system to fight off a tooth abcess (infection) that the dentist wanted to drill (and kill) my tooth! As for another even bigger and more profound result, I hope it doesn't sound too fantastic to say that out of my healing sessions with Julie, I experienced nothing short of an emotional healing miracle. We released trapped pain, trauma, guilt and shame that I've been carrying and heavily impacted by for 17 years. Although the shift during and right after that session was significant, the biggest impact wasn't immediate. At the end of that session, Julie told me that the work we did will often achieve its fullest effect within a few days. I thought to myself "yeah, ok, I've heard this before..." But as if on cue, 4 days later I woke up with a sense of emotional freedom and peace I literally couldn't remember ever feeling before, and that I honestly didn't believe I would ever experience in this lifetime. And yet there it was--all that emotional junk just gone, dissolved. No big drama or cathartic release--like it just evaporated! It wasn't even just that I was skeptical--I'd tried so many things and it had been so long and difficult that I was resigned that the best I could do was just "live with it" and get better at coping with it. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised or elated!! Julie's various approaches are unique and powerful. Of all the extensive modalities that I've tried, I'm never experienced anything like working with her. In one of my sessions I was able to see the influences (root cause) for some of my beliefs and my mission for this life.  My challenges and yearnings finally made sense. I was able to clear away the mental clutter and move toward my higher purpose.   Our healing sessions have built on top of what we've done before providing compounding support for my life path and personal growth. Shortly after each session opportunities came up that supported my goals. She also has provided me with very tangible nutrition recommendations that have worked well to improve my energy level and overall health. She offered solutions that took into account my cooking skill level and lifestyle. Very implementable! I feel great, I'm achieving my goals, and I live much more intentional. The word Discipline is easy to say, but in our day to day activity there's so many temptation that can ruin our motivation. He helped me to plan my diet, how I can start my morning and end my day with healthy nutrition. He suggested taking fruits and nuts daily and avoid dairy, it might sound simple. But again, once I started implementing and following his advice, I saw big results from my energy level and gradually into body result. We train 30 minutes a day depending on your work schedule, you'll have one an one evaluation with him, whats your body goals and how to achieve it. I love that he incorporate boxing in between our session that helped me sharpen my mind and stay aware with my surrounding. We split our training focusing in different areas of our muscle, he showed me proper way to do certain exercises to activate your muscle and how to avoid injury. He always remind me "Mind and Body Connection", and it works!!! In 3 months, I started to feel the results in my body, muscles that I've never thought I'll be able to train it.
