I'm so impressed! My children, Jesus and Jacqueline, started theater classes for the first time…read morethis summer at NCTC "camp" and they still can't stop talking about it. I got a nice break each day for a couple of hours and my children were clearly in safe hands. They loved their teacher, their classmates and all the creativity. My son, the eldest, seems really inspired to take more classes and see as many theater shows as he can. My brother, who has had a subscription to the plays for several years now, told me about the children's classes and now has me thinking about taking an adult drama class with him!!

I have no direct experience of the kids' classes, but the kids all look/sound very excited to be there so I'm guessing that it's a good program. I just finished my first, 9-week course: "Sing Out," a musical theater course for adults. It was fabulous - nine students in the class, and we met weekly to go through whatever piece we wanted to work on that week. The teacher, Scrumbly, is superb at coaching students to connect with the emotional "charge" of the song to call forth in their performances. The course culminated in an incredibly fun recital. We each sang a solo and at least one duet, and ended up with a group number "Hey, Big Spender" complete with hip bumps and sultry shoulder wiggles. Considering that half of the class was over 40 and male, that was especially fun. If you are afraid of showtunes and jazz hands - stay away. Or, better yet, use this excellent class as an opportunity to work through your bizarre phobia. The only thing that keeps this from being five stars was that I wanted more "ME" time in the rehearsals. With nine students and so many pieces (solos, duets, group) to run through, there often wasn't the time to delve deeply into an individual piece. This class whetted my appetite for individual instruction, so I think I will take this group class again and supplement with private lessons. Mi, mi, mi, it's all about me :-)

After two months into the role, I planned an offsite for me and my six team members, and I looked for a top rated improv class in San Francisco. The team at Leela did not disappoint! Everyone on my team was skeptical about this (especially since it was our first day together as a group), but they all walked away feeling more connected as ever. Do not hesitate to book Leela if you're looking to level up your trust and collaboration on your team!

We've attended children's performances where there was a post-ballet party with refreshments and opportunity for the kids to be photographed with the characters from the ballet.. What makes this so special for me and my family is their introductionto the arts. As children my girls looked forward to dressing up to attend this every year. Now, as adults, we continue the family tradition of attending as a family including my daughters spouses. Someday I will go with my daughters when they take their children to the Nutcracket Ballet as I once took them when they were little. My family looks forward to this every year, and every year we are delighted! Thank you to everyone at the SF Ballet for making this a memorable, meaningful, really special family tradition. Most of us have been forced to work remotely in this pandemic for nearly a year now, and it's left us often feeling isolated, missing the camaraderie and water-cooler chats that happen naturally in a physical office setting. Like so many, I have only gotten to witness improv from the audience seat and I was delighted to take part in an introductory improv session with my work family. Marcus ran an inclusive workshop that had every one of us participating, through activities like "rockstar introductions" and storytelling exercises, showing us techniques to be better communicators, build trust and have fun as a group! I would highly recommend considering Marcus for any corporate team-bonding events. Some quotes from my team: - It refilled my energy and passion from daily routine work. It's a vibrant, inclusive home for creativity, growth, and community. Located in the heart of San Francisco, NCTC's mission to support artists, youth, and the queer and allied communities isn't just words on a wall--it's felt in every class, every conversation, and every corner of this beautiful space. I recently completed their Adult Scene Study class with the incomparable Jeffery Draper, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enriching and inspiring experiences of my adult life. Whether you're just stepping into acting or sharpening your skills, this class offers a fun, supportive environment where you can take bold risks, discover new layers of your craft, and connect with other passionate creatives. Each week, we explored character, motivation, and storytelling in ways that were both challenging and rewarding. Jeffery's direction was equal parts insightful and encouraging, he meets you where you are and helps you rise. The space itself is warm, professional, and beautifully maintained, from the intimate black box theater to the cozy lobby and rehearsal rooms. If you're looking for a place to grow as an artist, to be seen and supported, or just to try something new in a welcoming environment, run to NCTC. Their adult drama classes are exceptional, and the community they've built is something truly special.

One of the things I admired most was that he gave 110% to every single student in every class. His positive energy was contagious and set the tone for the entire room -- making us want to have fun, do our best, and enjoy the journey along the way. He also truly knows the ins and outs of the industry and is incredibly generous when it comes to sharing his experiences, knowledge, and expertise. You can tell how much he genuinely wants his students to learn, grow, and feel prepared for the business side of acting as well. The last two years with Robert in CORE class absolutely flew by because I was constantly learning while genuinely having so much fun. Not only did he help me grow and strengthen my acting craft, but he also helped me become more confident and present in my everyday life. Everything I've learned from Robert and First Take has truly been a gift that I'll carry with me forever. I'm now moving into MC prep and plan to continue with First Take because I love their philosophies so much. It's very clear that they genuinely want every student to succeed -- whatever success looks like for them -- and they teach in a way that feels supportive, digestible, and never overwhelming. The sense of community they foster here has also been such a blessing. I've made some amazing friends, and I truly believe that comes from the leadership at First Take -- especially Robert -- creating an environment where everyone genuinely supports and celebrates one another. Through every challenge and every win, there are always people behind you encouraging you every step of the way.
