I've been with Z/A Studio for over a year now and I absolutely love it. They have zoom and in person classes which are amazing. Rob and Peter love their students and invest so much of their time. A big thing that I love about Z/A is the community. Finding like minded people that are all striving for the same goal feels great and as an actor is much needed. I joined Z/A when I really didn't know too much about acting and they have helped me grow and learn more than I ever could of imagined. Come check it out and audit class either in LA, SF, Honolulu, or through zoom!

The San Francisco Nutcracker Ballet is a family holiday tradition…read more The beauty of this is over the years they have carefully crafted children's programs for the ballet itself with less solos so the fidgety ones can remain rapt at the toys, the rat king, and of course the nutcracker on stage. We've attended children's performances where there was a post-ballet party with refreshments and opportunity for the kids to be photographed with the characters from the ballet.. What makes this so special for me and my family is their introductionto the arts. As children my girls looked forward to dressing up to attend this every year. Now, as adults, we continue the family tradition of attending as a family including my daughters spouses. Someday I will go with my daughters when they take their children to the Nutcracket Ballet as I once took them when they were little. My family looks forward to this every year, and every year we are delighted! Thank you to everyone at the SF Ballet for making this a memorable, meaningful, really special family tradition. Fiver, perfection.

We saw The Nutcracker and it was absolutely stunning. From the costume details to the set details. San Francisco Ballet - Sitting so close to the ceiling this time. Good view of the entire stage, but felt a bit far away. Had center balcony seats on this visit.

Marcus was an…read moreentertaining and engaging host and kept the ten of us smiling throughout the 2-hour Zoom session all afternoon! Most of us have been forced to work remotely in this pandemic for nearly a year now, and it's left us often feeling isolated, missing the camaraderie and water-cooler chats that happen naturally in a physical office setting. Like so many, I have only gotten to witness improv from the audience seat and I was delighted to take part in an introductory improv session with my work family. Marcus ran an inclusive workshop that had every one of us participating, through activities like "rockstar introductions" and storytelling exercises, showing us techniques to be better communicators, build trust and have fun as a group! I would highly recommend considering Marcus for any corporate team-bonding events. Some quotes from my team: - It refilled my energy and passion from daily routine work. A great experience having fun with the team during a pandemic - A good team bonding experience that helps you get out of your comfort zone - The most engaged Zoom meeting I've ever had #teambonding

One of the things I admired most was that he gave 110% to every single student in every class. His positive energy was contagious and set the tone for the entire room -- making us want to have fun, do our best, and enjoy the journey along the way. He also truly knows the ins and outs of the industry and is incredibly generous when it comes to sharing his experiences, knowledge, and expertise. You can tell how much he genuinely wants his students to learn, grow, and feel prepared for the business side of acting as well. The last two years with Robert in CORE class absolutely flew by because I was constantly learning while genuinely having so much fun. Not only did he help me grow and strengthen my acting craft, but he also helped me become more confident and present in my everyday life. Everything I've learned from Robert and First Take has truly been a gift that I'll carry with me forever. I'm now moving into MC prep and plan to continue with First Take because I love their philosophies so much. It's very clear that they genuinely want every student to succeed -- whatever success looks like for them -- and they teach in a way that feels supportive, digestible, and never overwhelming. The sense of community they foster here has also been such a blessing. I've made some amazing friends, and I truly believe that comes from the leadership at First Take -- especially Robert -- creating an environment where everyone genuinely supports and celebrates one another. Through every challenge and every win, there are always people behind you encouraging you every step of the way.

I do not recommend First Take for anyone, despite the glowing language they use to promote…read morethemselves. It is an unbelievably chaotic environment, and when you have a problem there is no one willing to help you solve it. They are really good at cashing your checks but that's about it. Danny Lai was a great teacher but when he became a father I had a series of 6 different teachers in six months, before Danny dropped the class altogether. They did not offer him a day of paid family leave but instead left him and all his students to suffer. I ended up in Andrew's class which was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. It seems they foisted Andrew on us even though he had no prior teaching experience just to fill the gap Danny left. Then Andrew falsely accused me of something I didn't do and next thing I knew I was being pressured to withdraw even though I had been a student there for almost 2 years. Looking back I realize that at the end of each 8-week session you get thrown back in with rank beginners instead of progressing as a group. Plus you never know how long your teacher is going to last. This is no way to hone your craft -- in fact, it's really frustrating. After 2 years of this they finally let you move on but by then you've spent a fortune on classes. I feel very bitter about my time at First Take and feel like I was badly taken advantage of by them. There are many fine acting schools in the Bay Area -- do yourself a huge favor & sign up for one of those instead.
