Wanted to try something different to break up our drive to central MT and found this place. My interests in hospitality, mid century, and kitschy collided with a bang when we checked into the Stardust. Staff was friendly. Room comfortable with a great bathroom that had MC tilework and felt like a time capsule rather than a past its prime hovel screaming "refresh me". The grassy area with firepit was a nice touch where I enjoyed a smore for the first time ever. Wallace is a cool town and we enjoyed spending time checking it out with this as our home base. read more

We stayed in room 10, nice end room which was quiet, clean and comfy. Mattress and pillows were very comfy. Room was very clean. I would have liked some blackout shades as the sun was bright at 0500 in the morning which woke me up. Otherwise this wax a great experience and would stay again, with an eye cover for sleeping in, read more

They have done a lot to make the Stardust a nice place to stay, and although we don't have pets it was a pleasant experience, an easy walk to restaurants. They had a couple at least of single hammock swimgs, and a seating area around tbe fire pit with a somemores kit issued at check in. Good hospitality. read more

On the surface: Beautiful and inviting motel, great for families, especially if you need a place that is pet friendly. Nice staff and bonfires on site with complimentary "smores kits," they even give out sticks you can use to roast the marshmallows over the fire. Office is closed after 10pm, so plan accordingly. I initially gave the Stardust 3/5 stars as we drove back to our home at 2am because neither of us could sleep on the very firm and uncomfortable mattress, the pillows felt like rolled up newspapers. But I liked the overall aesthetic and vibe. However I'm lowering to 2/5 after communicating this issue to the hotel, on the phone they said they had no idea the beds were uncomfortable. Then in response to this review they informed us that the beds in the "classic rooms" are not as comfortable as the beds and pillows in the "signature rooms." If we had known this when booking we would have paid more and reserved a signature room. The owners response was to essentially blame us for booking a "cheap" room and suggest we should have somehow known their standard rooms have terrible beds. The real issue is that NO room should have mattresses so uncomfortable that guests flee the motel at 2am. The room in general was clean, would have appreciated USB chargers or at least an outlet on both bedside tables instead of just the one. If they invested in better mattresses and pillows this would have been a 5/5 star review. If they had been less tone-deaf and responded better to our issues I would have kept the review at 3/5. read more

This is the most adorable vintage, clean motel I've stayed in. The beds are so cozy. The room is spotless and smells very clean. The 50's microwave and refrigerator are so darn cute. Easy walking to everywhere downtown and the shop owners were not only nice, but also raved about Kimberly and the motel. So glad we got to spend the night at the Stardust and Wallace. read more

Clean comfortable beds. They even have rags to clean your bikes or other off road stuff. Nice place. Make a reservation before you go to make sure you have a room. read more

Definitely a vintage motel. They have done a few updates, but they have kept this place retro. It was fun and kind of quirky to spend the night here. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and had everything that we needed They do a virtual entry so that was nice getting into your room. The office staff were very sweet and gave us extra pillows. We would definitely recommend. read more

My husband had his annual duck convention in Wallace. I wasn't on top of my game this year and forgot to book our normal lodging spot. My forgetfulness turned into such a great experience! This " motel" is the most accommodating spot I've been to in quite a while. They absolutely love pets. We traveled with our cockatiel ( in his bird diaper and travel back pack) our Cane Corso, and Great Dane Mix. Everyone greeted our animals like they were movie stars . They offer s'mores kits and have little fire pits all over! This place is adorable with its retro vibe and its SPOTLESS inside! It's so clean and everything from the bed, linens , towels, and microwave is new and revamped. They provide ear plugs for guests but the bed so comfy I was out like a light within minutes! ( that never happens!) The bathroom is still vintage and you will find an old school soda/beer/bottle opener next to the shower. So if you like shower beers this is the place for you! I also forgot my shampoo and conditioner this trip and had to use the ones provided.... I have very curly hair that loathes everything. My hair wasn't a crazy mess batteling me while trying to style it. It's a very good quality shampoo and Conditioner. I plan on staying here from now on. read more

A Charming Retro Gem This motel has a vintage vibe, yet very well maintained. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed sitting around the firepit in the evening... you can even purchase s'more fixings and roast them at the firepit. My stay was during the shoulder season and I was solo. As someone else said, the neighborhood/location seemed potentially sketchy, but I was assured there was no history of issues at the motel. I liked that parking was away from the street where cars cannot be seen. Staff was all friendly, particularly when I lost the card with my entry code about 2 minutes after I got it. Room was clean and, as others have said, the bed was super comfortable. I liked the combination of updates while keeping it vintage. The reason for the missing star is that the rooms are smoke free, but there is a smoking post just outside the room doors where the front desk staff smoked and the person upstairs was smoking weed on the balcony so the both smells were making their way into my room. So gross! Overall, as a solo traveler during shoulder season, I would recommend staying at The Stardust Motel. it's clean, quiet (off season), and the location is great for a road trip. Just move the smoking stations away from the room doors and it would be a 5-star experience. read more

The Stardust Motel - Retro! - Hotels Near Me - Wallace, Idaho

Quite , clean , comfortable. This remodeled retro is perfect. Highly recommend, will be back !!

We were recently in Wallace, ID and we took a walk and ended up walking past this quirky, adorable Motel, loved everything about it, but it got even better, they had fire pits and a few guests were outside, we talked for a bit ,went into the office to get some information so we could return and stay here, the owners were there and man, they are so nice, cool and friendly. We were invited to sit by the fire with a glass of wine (that the owner makes ) and a beer for the hubby. We felt right at home and we can't wait to actually stay here sooner than later. I would love to bring our family here. read more

This is what I look for when I stay at a non resort place (starting by priority, 1 being bad and 10 being excellent) 1) Price - 8 - we paid around $176 (with a pet fee) for a one bed / Customer service - 10 - my husband and I got a chance to get to know the owner. She was really sweet and super nice. Never was rude to us. 2) Cleanliness - 10 ( there were cracks in the tub). The room seemed very clean. 3) Bed and pillows - 10 - this is the first place that had the most comfortable bed and the pillows didn't feel like maxi pads. Most places I've stayed, the beds are too hard. This one feels like it aligns with your body. The pillows are firm. In a good way. 4) Amenities - 10 ( this has a USB charge stations. This is the first place that had this. This had a microwave, refrigerator, and standard cable) I personally don't prefer the location. The small town vibe isn't really my thing but my husband really loves that. So it depends on the person. Location seems sketch BUT this is a very small town so I don't think crime would be an issue. Just seems spooky. People literally walk around with beer in their cup. Sheriffs drive and around and don't really care. It's a small town, no trouble. The hotel gives you a 70s vibe. They have a nostalgic microwave. From what I observed, the owners just bought this place last year and they are still in the process of renovating the rooms. read more

Clean rooms, cute place. Tho fire pits and s'mores is a nice idea, they really need to be much further from rooms, so that smoky air doesn't force closed windows and AC usage on what should have been (but wasn't) a comfortable night's sleep with fine mountain air. Agh... read more

If you ever find yourself traveling on I-90 through the panhandle of Idaho with your pup, I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Stardust in Wallace, Idaho. We felt like we stumbled into doggie vacation paradise! The Stardust may seem a little dated at first glance but it leans into its retro vibes with fully remodeled rooms, spa-like toiletries, soft, fluffy towels and luxury beds/linens for the humans. What really sets them apart is how they approach the fur-babies! It's not that they just "allow pets" but they fully embrace them. Dog cookies and pets/belly rubs at check-in and lots of outdoor spaces to sniff and conduct their business. The owners love dogs and you can tell! And this love of dogs extends throughout the town of Wallace too. Practically every store has a dog dish of water outside and many establishments allow dogs inside (grab a drink with your pup inside at 6th & Cedar Espresso Bar & Saloon). Lots of restaurants have outdoor seating (Fainting Goat) which is great for dining el fresco with your pup. We are sad that we only have one night in this cute, historic town but will be back! Four paws up! read more

We had the most wonderful stay at The Stardust. The staff was incredibly kind and over the top with any of our needs. The rooms have been remodeled but they kept the retro charm. We rode the Hiawatha Trail and upon returning to our room, they told us they had a water hose out front that is used to clean our bikes. They also have a campfire in the evenings that was the most relaxing experience and we made many new friends. The entire town of Wallace is charming, but The Stardust was our favorite part. 10/10 recommend staying there! read more

Decided to have a stay-cation recently and what better place than Wallace, ID. only 45 min from Coeur d'Alene. Recently redone by the new owners and what a job they did. The bed was extremely comfortable, I felt like I was in heaven the two nights I stayed there. Super clean and homey, couldn't ask for anything better. Centrally located and walking distance from everything in Wallace. The check in was super easy and accommodating. If you're passing through and need a place to stay, this is the place! read more

The location and stay was perfect. Could walk to town. Felt safe wherever I went. The fifties theme was great. Reminded me of motels in the fifties with the 50's microwave and refrigerator style. Comfy beds and roomy. Like the idea of the large cups for the ice machine and water located in the office. The office has everything you want. The staff is always busy making sure things are clean and tidy. The fire pit at night is a perfect end for the evening. Highly recommend staying here. read more

Stayed there for two weeks and it was the most amazing time. Great hospitality and great service. The ladies in the office are the nicest people ever. So welcoming and helpful. I will definitely recommend staying here. They have movie night, s'more night, fire pits and hammocks out in there grass field. 10/10, best motel ever. read more

It's all about location, location, location. The self proclaimed center of the universe is near the start of the popular Route of the Hiawatha. Some cool looking stuff right around the motel, too. The motel itself looks like it's stuck in the 70's color pallatte, which some folks obviously love. Our beds dipped in the middle quite a bit even after just one night, but we were just grateful to be off the road and not sitting. And the wifi is useless unless you're right by the main office. read more

Vintage hotel. Super clean and updated, yet still has the old days charm. Great price!!

Place is super friendly, movies on Thursdays, staff is helpful & knowledgeable

Four motorcycle riders. Units 1 and 2 - with an adjoining doorway. Folks - this place is sketchy. You can take that as 'charming and has character' or you can take that as 'remind me again why we booked here'. OK - the rooms are old. Unit 1 has a constant and continuous sound of running water through a pipe in the ceiling. The mattresses are shall we say - not new. The towels and bathroom items were sufficient. Shower water was hot. The A/C worked great. That seems like about a 3Star to me. I really have no significant complaints about this place. I had the opportunity to change to the Wallace Inn - but then what fun would that have been. I was sort of looking for an adventure and took a chance. Have you read the other reviews about this place? Yikes! I would not stay here with young kids - but for four Harley riders for a single night stay it was just what we needed. A definitely fun sketchy adventure. read more

What a charming motel, our room looked to be updated recently and beds and pillows were great! Would definitely stay again if in the area!

We actually stayed at the Stardust in 2023 but for some reason my review didn't post. We had such a nice stay that I wanted to let people about this little diamond. Don't let the earlier negative reviews put you off. The motel has been under new ownership since early 2022 and they are committed to excellence. The units have been refreshed and updated. There's plenty of hot water and the beds are clean, fresh and comfy. The room boasts all the amenities needed. The staff is friendly, warm and so accommodating. The motel is located within easy walking distance of great dining-it's a small town so everything is nearby- and the locals are the best! We bumped into one fella who insisted intaking us on a tour of some of the local historical buildings. He was actually quite informative. We also met another local who was born in Wallace and has lived his 70+ years there. He was an interesting wealth of the town's historical info. He was also proud of the fact that the film Dante's Peak was shot in Wallace. And if you visit Wallace, don't miss the manhole cover in the middle of town that proclaims Wallace as the center off the universe! As an update, we're going back to Idaho next month to visit friends and are planning to stop in Wallace and the Stardust Motel again! read more

For the money and location you can't beat this place! The bed was so comfy, room was clean, and the blonde gal that works the office is an absolute GEM!! Don't let the old reviews scare you, this is a clean, cozy, roadside motel. It's no frills by any means but that doesn't take away from the charm of the retro feel of the place. We got an email with our room code for check in, didn't even have to worry about stopping at the desk. As with many places these days, it's the other guests that tend to make a stay unenjoyable, no different here. Would have preferred to not get woken up before 8am on Sunday due to motorcycle parked right under the stairs to our room and ran for 10 minutes before departing, or the fella in the lobby complaining about the pine beetles. In the PNW. In the fall. . But overall this motel is as advertised and we will 100% stay again! read more

My family and I travel a lot, and this is by far one of our most favorite places we've stayed. The room was extremely clean (even the carpets had just been shampooed) and the bed was so so comfortable! Even my teenagers loved the vibe of the place, which says a lot! The owner was so nice. She shared the history of the motel and town with me and made great food recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town. Everything we needed was within walking distance. Oops, 1 Star by accident! If you're a hipster or Californian in search of your next overpriced, yet, vintage-cool experience this is likely your spot. You'll pay over 150/night (weekend) for a 50 dollar room. They plan to renovate, and it looks as if they are. However, you're not getting a renovated room. You're getting the same standard old musty room that was 50 dollars under the old ownership. They advertise how cool and hip Wallace, Idaho is. It was, prior to the Cali takeover. Now it's wine bars and overpriced Vintage Experiences. But, if you're on Yelp that's likely your thing. The tub has soot from the water.. that's dirt for those who don't know. Yeah, dirt in the tub after the water drained. Room is old and vintage, only not cool vintage, just old. Internet just went down, so there's that. Go drink at the wine bar prior to checking in, that way you won't care. read more

First of all, the hotel looks nothing like it's photos online. It looks cute, neat and tidy in the pics. We had wanted to visit Wallace since we had driven through many times and never had time to stay. The outside of the hotel looked old and unkept. The grounds were not maintained. When we checked in, after a delay in getting our room ready, we found the room to be in deplorable condition. There was peeling wallpaper, dirty carpet, no coffee maker or coffee as advertised, the microwave oven had to be moved from its stand to reach a plug in, the room was just in really poor shape. By this time it was late and we had signed the no refunds check in form. I tried to contact the management with no return of phone calls. After along days drive, we were tired, so we slept there, but I would never go there again and highly recommend to anyone that I know to NOT stay there. I'm not sure I would give this even a one star. read more
