I'm so surprised to see hardly any reviews for Peters Seafood as I think it's a wee gem!! Having…read moreonly recently dipped my toes into the world of Seafood I tentatively booked dinner at Peters a few months ago for their Pre-Theatre menu. A set menu with 3 courses at £14.50, this is excellent value for the quality of food you get in a tiny restaurant. The place is family run, by Peter himself and his wife I'm sure. They really couldn't do enough for us when we visited. The starters on the menu on our visit (it changes) were the usual suspects in a Seafood restaurant, prawn cocktail, crab cakes, calamari etc. They also had Chicken Empanadas, which I tried, given that I'm new to fish I didn't want 2 courses!! The empanadas were crispy and flavoursome & came with a chilli dipping sauce. A perfect sized portion for a starter. Martyn went with the Prawn cocktail and, as you'd expect in a seafood restaurant, it was totally delicious with juicy prawns and a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I spoke with the waitress before ordering my main and explained that I was new to seafood and unsure about what fish to start with. She suggested the Seabass as it has a mild flavour and a meaty texture. I'm sooo glad I took her advice!! The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and melting flesh, such a delicate flavour and not fishy whatsoever. It was served with wilted spinach and a lemon oil and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that fish doesn't necessarily have that fishy taste I expected it to have. We weren't going to bother with puddings, it was a beautiful sunny night and we both fancied a walk & an Ice cream along Troon beach. However when clearing our plates the Waitress uttered 2 completely delectable words.....'Homemade Profiteroles'. This well and truly sealed the pudding deal and 2 plates swiftly arrived at our table. They were incredibly light with crispy yet airy Choux pastry and filled with delicious vanilla cream. The chocolate on top was the kind that makes u want to lick your plate (and I almost did). Overall an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere for a great price. I often recommend it to visitors of East Kilbride and I can't wait to go back!

This restaurant was recommended highly but felt it lacked a little in intimacy. Food very good but for a seafood restaurant could have offered a bit more Variety of fish. On the whole our meal , smoked haddock macaroni and steak was lovely and no complaints.

The freshest seafood ever! I mean, seriously. Most everything on the menu is caught in Loch Fyne…read more The OYSTERS are to die for. We were unable to get a booking Saturday as they were completely booked out days in advance. We decided to get takeaway oysters and smoked salmon, and ate them outside on the picnic tables. Wellllllll the oysters were so good we asked to book lunch the next day. They fortunately had an opening. We came back today and were blown away by the selection and the quality of the food. Again we had 6 fresh oysters, and also the hand dived Shetland scallops with the a black pudding on the side (it is Scottish sausage and I don't eat meat, but the husband does). We also indulged in the Loch Fyne Langoustines. I enjoyed a glass of extra brut Cremant BdB from France. Nice and dry bubbly. Hoooo weeee that was a great lunch! Everything came out quickly and was a nice presentation. The langoustines were served with a side of garlic butter and chips (fries). The food we selected was perfect for two people. If you are in Scotland and you like seafood, make sure to put this place on your list. Best oysters I've ever had. They also have a very nice deli attached with some local gifts. The fresh fish looks amazing. They also sell some snacks like fresh cheese and those oat crackers that are so good.

Came back here after many many years. Really enjoyed it the first time around…read more We did come on a day when the restaurant itself was closed, but the shop open - we did know that, but thought the surely sell oysters in the shop as well. And they did. Got a salmon sandwich and half-a dozen oysters. Took a seat outside on one of the many tables. Dogs are welcome outside. The salmon was of great quality and the Oysters as excellent as we remembered. Good sized, smooth....creamy. Since we bought them in the shop we had to open them ourselves, but it was manageable. Since the salmon was so delicious we bought to whole packs of them, another 6x oysters, some cheese and black garlic paste. There are other seafood items for sale, cheeses, jams and much more. Staff was friendly and helpful. Toilets in the shop as well. Even though the restaurant was closed, the place was really busy. But the parking lot is huge, so that's no problem. Surely we'll be back when we're in the area next time.

We were sat at a lovely table by a staff member and given menus. We looked it over and waited and waited.... No one came to the table. We learned 30 minutes later that we had to go order at a bar, and that no one actually takes your order. It wasn't clear, because there were no signs, instructions, and waiters were bringing food to the tables. We then hungrily joined a standing line to order. A waitress told us to move forward to an open spot to order, only to find that the spot was not in fact ready for a new order. We waited in that spot for so long that 4 parties ordered before us, that were behind us in line. They ordered at the register that we originally were in line for. No one acknowledged us, no clear order was advertised. It was SO weird! So we finally order, and after a very expensive bill for the food that we ordered, we were told to wait standing until the drinks were made. We needed to walk the drinks back to our table. We waited and waited, while they took other people's orders. After while, a staff member showed us that the drinks were waiting for us, ice melted, and no one told us. Ugh. We go back to the table. Many tables around us ate and are leaving, as they seem to rush people in and out. We wait for 40 minutes and our food isntvthere. We ask about it, and right away, someone else's order shows up. It's not our food. We bring it to attention of the server, and they take it away. After a while our food arrives. The dishes were good, drinks ok. The service seemed like they tried to be friendly but it was such a disorganized crap show that they might not have realized how bad it really was. My family wanted to shop after but we were so ready to leave the area, we just took off. Bad experience, wish we tried another recommendation. We spent a lot of time, a lot of money, and really felt taken advantage of.
