I was married here in 2011, August. What a dream come true. The staff was welcoming to all of our…read moreguests and made us all feel like royalty. The welcoming day we had a piper and great little tea and sandwiches set up. Each room was unique and the building was a dream, like a castle. We played croquette on the lawn and danced in the fountain. The wedding took place in the green house, as to avoid the sprinkling outside. They had two crystal champagne flutes made with our names and wedding date for us to keep and handed them to us as we walked out of the ceremony, what a lovely gesture and a treasure we will keep forever. Had spa services done the morning of and the best meal of my life on my wedding day. I wish I had more time to explore the grounds, but maybe on my anniversary I will head back for more country side adventures. thank you to all!

We had a great time here at a friends wedding in June. We did and I highly recommend a shooting lesson with Alistair and his fine assistant (name escaping, sorry) on their Sporting Clays course. We also did a fly fishing lesson on the pond that was a delight and improved my skills. You really feel like you have had an adventure on a Scottish Estate. The Estate has water on the Tweed that is World Class for Salmon in season as well as other shooting standard in their respective seasons. The stone work and interior architecture and art are everything you could want as was the wedding.

I tried on Friday morning but they weren't very hopeful that they would be able to manage our group. However, as I was the first to arrive I had a word with the lovely manageress who was on duty, and she very quickly arranged a slot for us at 7pm. As it turned out, only 6 of the group decided to come to the hotel for food, so we weren't as cramped as we'd thought. The standard of food was excellent, I was particularly impressed with my starter of scallops, which were beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. For mains, I decided on a whim to try the veggie curry, which was tasty although I found it a teensy bit on the dry side. But full marks to the Collingwood for accommodating us all on a busy Friday evening.

This is the type of place I would want to own if I went into the hotel business! Bought a deal for…read moremy boyfriend for Christmas which was an overnight stay, two course dinner, breakfast and Molton Brown gift bag for what seemed like a great deal at £89. They showed that they care right from the booking of the stay where I called and got a lovely chap who couldn't be more welcoming! I then had to call back and ask if it could be rescheduled about three weeks later and this was no problem for them - great! Sometimes if you have a voucher places act like they couldn't care less. So it is just over the border into England and in a tiny wee village and looks lovely as you approach. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist and shown to a very nice room after she made us a dinner reservation in the restaurant. The Molton brown gift was amazing - a proper box of normal sized goodies. The bar was nice and cosy and the wine prices were really great for a hotel with the price of bottles ranging from £13 to £20 so we settled down with a bottle of Chenin blanc and let the afternoon pass! We got ready for dinner and went downstairs to the bar - which was heaving surprisingly! So the lovely waitress took us through to the library and took our order while we sat in front of a toasty real fire. The pink mojito was I am afraid to say really disappointing - there was no crushed ice in it as is usual but a few sad melted cubes who were not doing their job. However dinner time was here and the menu looked really great. We were told by the waiter that it was only lamb which carried a supplement and all other dishes were included in our deal - fantastic value so we couldn't resist the starter of scallops, black pudding and pea purée. It was awesome! Three huge juicy perfectly cooked scallops with spicy soft black pudding and fresh crushed peas. What's not to like?! For mains we went for steak, I had the ribeye cooked to medium perfection with crisp onion rings, chips and peppercorn sauce. Boyfriend had the amazing fillet beef which was delish although slightly over done for his liking with truffle mash. They were both great. We were stuffed but couldn't resist pudding and put away a fabulous creamy baileys and Malteser cheesecake that was exactly what was needed to finish off a pretty perfect dinner. We had a comfortable nights stay and a great brekkie the next morning - full English cooked to your order. Only thing was the bacon was too crispy for my liking - but that's just my preference so that's ok. I would highly recommend a stay here or a visit for dinner if you for any reason happened to be nearby! The staff were super lovely, the hotel comfortable and welcoming and the food delish.
