I chose Norma J because we are staying right across the road at Valcour Brewing. We had a mid morning breakfast on their open seating area which has just reopened. Great service. Great food. Decent reasonable pricing. read more

I should be able to get a bagel with cream cheese without getting plastic. There is no justification for putting the cream cheese in plastic container and using a plastic knife to put the cream cheese on my bagel. That plastic will exist for the next 450 years. I should also be able to get an egg & cheese sandwich without having to pay for the meat. Why would I pay for rhe meat if I don't eat meat? read more

Great food, good combinations of flavor, and very kind staff! They are very helpful with recommendations - perfect fit for each customer. They have a good selection of baked goods that I need to try! read more

The atmosphere was good The service was amazing HOWEVER! I found the food to be very bland, i got 2 burritos and I paid $4 for less than a scoop of hash I could by a can of hash for less. Normally I try not to leave a bad review but meh... it's nothing I'd write home about. I just won't be returning for breakfast again read more

What a sweet spot right off the highway! I have no idea what other reviews are talking about with unfriendliness; this place was overflowing with welcome. I was greeted right away when I walked in, even though I was clearly an out-of-towner who had just pulled off the highway. Everyone else in the spot were locals; the servers knew their names and anticipated their baked good preferences. For me, I ordered the omelette sammy and a diet soda. The omelette sammy was delicious and perfectly cooked. Got a lemon bar to go which was also fantastic. There's almost nothing like this right off the highway, anywhere. Protect Norma J's at all costs! read more

Lovely little breakfast stop, tucked in on Margaret street! I ordered the weekend special, the Big Iron Sandwich, and it was excellent!! Before leaving I ordered the tot head burrito to go with some cake balls for dessert! My servers were so personable and helpful in making my selection for breakfast! I'm sad I live away and can't make this my daily go to spot!!! read more

Great service. They were very attentive and accommodating to our rather obstreperous group in a small space and friendly with the trainee cashier. Yelp may not be up to date they have moved to a location in downtown Plattsburgh and basically just have a sandwich and bakery menu, not plated food. read more

We've been going to Norma J's for the past two years and as much as we love supporting local businesses, and Norma is nice, it's just the service has gone down hill. I've been a server in NYC for IHOP, busy upper east side clubs and restaurants and understand the struggle, but this is a far cry for help. We understand everyone suffered from the pandemic and prices everywhere have gone up- but at least be kind to your customers. The store is beautiful and clean, and everything is actually pretty good, except the service. Today we walked in and on the menu they have smoothies- now they do not have any just a coffee shake for $7! The lox is $12, the stuffed French toast is $13, they even charged extra for a cream cheese- you need to communicate with your customers and stop nickel and diming us. I bought a pumpkin spice iced coffee this afternoon and the cup broke as I was putting cream and sugar in it and it broke and spilled everywhere- instead of paying attention to your customers, the girls were playing with the other children- then when asked for napkins to clean up she said "Don't waste those!!" We were only trying to help. Either way we've tried bringing our friends and family here but we are consistently disappointed every time. Every penny, and clearly napkin is counted and it ALWAYS feels like we're doing THEM a favor by coming in. Small businesses should be glad they're still open post pandemic and grateful that we're supporting them than a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. If you want to over spend money for donuts, sugar cookies, toasted lox bagels, mediocre omelettes and French toast- Come here- or go down the street and go to Stewart's or Dunkin Donuts- they at least service you with a smile. Norma Js I still have hope for you and we do want to keep supporting you, but you got a lot of work to do, hire more servers, cooks, bakers, communicate with guests, use alternative high grade sugar and ingredients and smile more. Bakeries are supposed to be fun and enjoyable, have more events for the community and local individuals. Even give extra goods, breads to the homeless community in our neighborhood. We can all just do better. read more

Good brewed coffee of different roasts. Don't be fooled by the classic diner machine, the coffee doesn't sit around long enough to burn. We tried the maple nut and blueberry muffins. They do have a gluten-free rack, but it was empty in the afternoon. We hear the pancake is the size of a plate and pretty great. read more

I appreciate small businesses just as this one because they understand the value of good customer service. We had a simple breakfast/brunch (bagel egg sandwich with meat omelette and home fries) and although they were closing their kitchen, as a courtesy still made us some pancakes! We were on our way home from Canada to Manhattan. read more

I FINALLY got a chance to stop by for Sunday morning breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Eggs Benedict Adirondacks style, was enough for 2 meals. Place was packed and for good reason. Food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable. I highly recommend it. I will be back. read more

Great breakfast, friendly staff, and DECADENT DONUTS! Amazing. We will be back for ice cream for sure. The Boston Cream donut was perfectly creamy and not too sweet with a rich chocolate icing on top. We also had a Glazed donut. Classically delicious. read more

I go to norma js quite often and when I went today the service today was extremely rude and talked to me with zero respect.

Have driven past the restaurant a few times, but never stopped. Today we decided to go in, and it was crazy busy. There were two waitresses. Ours was the skinny brunette. And let me tell you I was less than impressed. I would tell you her name but she never told us. She was NOT friendly, and frankly gave poor service. I realize they were busy, so I don't expect to be waited on hand and foot - but atleast smile and seem like you were happy to be there. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about, just your typical diner food. I'll give this place another try in the future, but their first impression was not very good. read more

My brother and I went to Norma Js today. He had a grilled cheese sandwich. There was only cheese in the middle of the sandwich and the outside of the sandwich it was very dried out. He only ate 1 bite of it I had what they called a Thanksgiving turkey melt. The turkey was like 2 sm chicken patties. The turkey was very dried out and I considered it unpalatable. I ate 2 bites cause I had already taken my insulin and I left a negative review on the restaurant and noticed my review was deleted We both ordered French fries. They were not freshly cooked. They were very dried out, like it was the bottom of the fries. I ate 1 bite and was not impressed. They were very dried out We called Norma over to our table. She stated we got what we ordered She did give us 1 meal free and 10% off my meal. I pd over $16 for a meal that was probably the worst meal I've ever ordered out In addition, there was a table with chairs. We asked to sit there because my brother just had back surgery and would not be comfortable at a makeshift table with poor bar stools. We were both very uncomfortable with this seating arrangement esp since there was an empty table which we were told was reserved. There was no reserved sign at this table In addition this restaurant is very sm. There was not adequate seating for being a sit down restaurant Needless to say we will not choose this restaurant again read more

Was busy but at 10 o'clock after one glass of unsweeten ice tea they ran out and had to buy a bottles Bev. The food was well prepared and displayed nicely . We had a reuben and a turkey sandwich. turkey had thick peices of real turkey not sandwich meat stuffing and cranberry was great . read more

Best breakfast I've had in plattsburgh, or anywhere around here! Amazing baked goods, the eclair is amazing!!

Stopped for breakfast recently.Food was typical diner grub,Ordered the Adirondack benedict.fresh and tasty

Good food and good service. Typical breakfast items.

Your average small town country feel diner. Nothing overwhelmingly special about this place. It had your standard diner menu with not too much variety. The food that did come out was as expected with nothing driving my tastebuds to excitement. The service was somewhat stand offish and did not seem very interested. Overall, if you are looking for something to just grab a quick bite to eat without breaking the bank and not wanting to be fancy by any means then this is your place. read more

Stopped in to grab a bite to eat while waiting for the half marathon to finish. Nice spot, good food and friendly staff.

I Really want to rate this place higher. The food is actually pretty good when you get it hot. I feel like this is a training issue. As the place isnt ever that buisy. It just simply doesnt hold enough seats for the cook to get backed up. theres seating for 20 people tops realistically, i mean you can fit more but it would be crammed and its rare that ive ever seen more than 10 people there at one time. The menu consists of quick short order items so theres really no excuse. Im not sure if its a matter of training or under staffing where the cook is also responsible for washing the dishes and the prep work. But i have done years of short order cooking and something just doesnt add up. Ill order a stack of pancakes, eggs toast and bacon and my girlfriend will order and omlet and toast and it'll take 40+ minutes for it to come out to the table. At any given time the cook is only working on 3-4 orders at a time and thats nothing really. Its all about managing your time and multi tasking. also i know the watress's try hard and i dont hold it against them. but a lot of the times i wont even see a refill for coffee during my meal. this isnt an isolated incident. it pretty much happens every time we go to eat there. my gf loves the place, so i go with her. I really want to love this place. I really truelly dig greasy spoon, mom and pop breakfast places. those are the places i love to eat. But the time between ordering and getting your food is just too long most of the time and like i said a lot of the times it will be completely cold or half of the items will be cold. Some times are really better than others. So i suggest only going here if you have a few hours to kill and arnt too particular about your food. Im just saying i shouldnt be able to order Perkins breakfast through door dash living 15 minutes by car and get my food quicker and warmer than my usual order from normas. read more

Food is good and staff is friendly, but expensive for what you get. Small portions. On the upside, the place is clean

Oreo stuffed pancakes!! Need we say more.. Oh, yeah Gifford's specialty ice cream! You're welcome.
