Anyway, the place is easy to find and right off fourth street and visible from the road. There is street parking, but a parking garage is literally right there on the other side of the street if you need it. As you know, downtown Rochester can get busy at times, so easy places to park is important. Walking in, not only is this place a tea store, but it also sells spices. They also have a ton of cool accessories to choose from throughout, which was really super cool to look at. I've also been on the hunt for the individual honey sticks that seem to be hard to find. Not only do they have the honey sticks, but they came in a variety of flavors? Like flavored honey? Exciting! I just grabbed a packet of regular honey sticks which are sitting in my kitchen now. The spice area has a much larger selection of items, from different varieties of salt, but other seasonings as well. I didn't really study the selection as the place was busy but let me tell you, there's a lot! I went to the tea section and they have all sorts of teas to choose from. I wanted something more citrus/lemon/herbal since I have a sinus infection, but I also wanted to see what else they have. Great selection, pre bagged but make sure you have the steeper's at home. If not, they sell them here too. Service was great, and the staff was knowledgeable. Nobody asked me if I needed help or followed me around the store, but when I did talk to them at check out, these people really seem to be tea oriented and educated on the product. While they aren't cheap by any stretch of the imagination (more along the lines of Starbucks pricing) they are worth every penny. I will be back in the future and I wish they did a better job of advertising!

So the hand germs from the scoop is now in the food, and someone needs to reach in and touch the food in order to retrieve it. Which I saw a customer do. The directions are also unclear, you need to write down all the product codes instead of the large number on the information sheets, which is the price/lb. We did get small portions of 2 types of candy, both which were stale. It was also $6, which is cheap, but I can get x5 the amount of candy at the dollar store or drugstore for that price. The staff member was nice, and there was a regular in there who seemed to come often.

The store personnel took me right to the salt and pepper and answered my questions about the different types of salt and pepper. I selected my salt and pepper and paid less than half of what I would have paid in a traditional store. There were so many different items to browse. I was especially happy to see the bulk coffee beans and the coffee grinder! I love vanilla tootsie roll midgets and found them in bulk here...they are so very hard to find. Lots of candy, cookies, dog treats and anything you need to make a fancy cake. Huge store with with small prices. Check it out.

It'd be nice if you could maybe try out some tease, not saying I need to smell or taste every one of them, but my husband ended up bringing down some of the jars so I could smell them myself. Relative to staff, the folks working at this business are quite friendly and very knowledgeable about their teas and and are there to help guide you in selecting a tea based on your personal tastes. You are allowed to open the large tea jars to sniff which is a great assistance in helping you make a selection where my nose was my guide in selecting my tea along with the staff's input. Nice! My only gripe about this business is there are no ready made samples to taste like you find in other shops like this and/or the ability to order a hot tea of your choice to try. I really find that tea shops that offer this definitely help you avoid getting a tea you are unhappy with once you get home and make your first pot. They're right up there with the best gourmet chocolates - forget Godiva, go for Hashem's. They're cheaper and more delicious. You know how when you receive a box of chocolates and you start eating them but you really only like a couple flavors in the box? Not so with Hashem's. I've tried a dozen or so different ones so far and have loved almost all of them - and I am fairly picky about chocolate - no novelty chocolate for me. My absolute favorite are the pistachio cream squares with the gold wrapper. If you're looking for a great gift, buy a pretty box somewhere, then fill it with an assortment of these wonderful chocolates. They're $19.99/lb but seem to average out to about a dollar each (some less, some more) in my experience. Well worth it and a bargain compared to the $3-4/chocolate that gourmet chocolate makers charge. A couple visits ago, I received samples of both the mulberry Turkish delight and rose halawa. I don't normally care for Turkish delight much, but that one was flavorful and delicious. The halawa is a sweet with an interesting flaky texture that melts in your mouth. It was so interesting (in a very good way!) that I had to go back for more and try other flavors (pistachio and chocolate) - all were great but I think I liked the rose best so far (and I don't normally like rose flavor!). Next, I think I'll try coffee. The nuts are great too. I've tried a couple of the pistachio varieties. All in all, Hashem's is a very unique little store and a true treasure of the community.
