I love the spa life and this is one of my new favorites! It's so zennnn. :) They have Hydro facials, which are so nourishing and rejuvenating. I highly recommend coming here and parking down the street so you don't have to pay for valet parking. The only drawback is they're only open until 5 PM. You can go to the gym if you get a facial hair so that's a very positive feature! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott for our anniversary and our room wasn't ready. We decided to walk around and explore. Susan who is lovely at the resort desk recommended the spa. The receptionist, Rolea was also extremely friendly but did not have appointments at the same time. She suggested my husband getting a day pass since he wanted me to have a massage. The manager Ethan was kind enough to let my husband utilize the spa steams and complimentary. My massage with Bonny was just what I needed, talk about one of the best I have had. The spa is dated but both the spa and resort staff are five star. Highly recommend. We will be back on our next trip. read more

We usually stay right in the heart of Laguna Beach, but prices were outrageous this time around. Although this hotel was still expensive--about $600 a night--it better fit our financial needs. The biggest drawback? Kids. So many kids. If you're a family, this may be a plus. But we were looking for a relaxing, adult-oriented weekend, and that was hard to come by. We tried to play a quiet game by the pool, but kids kept approaching us and sitting down. They will ask us if they could play with us and kept showing us the art pieces they made at the kids place center. It was kind of uncomfortable. Meanwhile, the parents were drinking beer in the hot tub, seemingly uninterested in supervising. If you're looking for a peaceful, romantic Laguna escape, this isn't the spot. We stayed on the second floor, and unfortunately, the gorgeous trees completely blocked the ocean view. I'd strongly recommend requesting a room on the fourth floor if a view is important to you. On the positive side: The Lantern restaurant was a standout. I had one of the best steaks of my life--and I'm a serious steakhouse regular. Truly exceptional. Also the mushroom appetizer is a must! I also visited the spa. Overall, the spa space itself was average--more like a nice, quiet locker room without a pool. But the facial I received? The best I've ever had. And I live in L.A and frequent many high-end spas. It was over $300 and absolutely worth it. While I wouldn't recommend the spa itself for the full "spa day" experience, I would go back just for that facial. In summary: A nice hotel with strong food and spa services, but it comes with a high price tag and a definite family-oriented vibe. Think of it like a mid-tier hotel just outside Disney World--trying hard for four-star service, but catering mainly to families. read more

The entire hotel was renovated during covid and the facilities are really nice. There are more luxurious and upscale spas out there - but for the money and the service, this earns a 5 star. Based on the facility alone, it's more like a 4 star. But I tend to skip past the sauna and lounge and focus on the treatments. Great spa experience - the treatment room was big, clean and comfy. The therapists were great. We did a couples treatment which was actually a little cheaper than doing separate treatments and we got a glass of champagne with it. Best plan is to time it so you can eat at the new Outer Reef restaurant after (dinner only). We will be back. read more

We are staying at the hotel for my daughter's work. We had a room credit to take advantage of the amenities. I was greeted when I entered the spa. I was escorted into the women's changing room. More signage or a map would have helped, as I didn't know the floor plan. Once I found out where I was going, Ashley introduced herself. Once we got to the room, she listened to everything I said, I have a number of physical and medical issues, and didn't put too much pressure on any of my effected areas. Once I was finished, she led me back to the changing room. I had a few minutes in the hot tub. The handicapped shower was large and the shower jets were nice. My one concern was no safety bars to hold onto while entering/existing it. read more

The employees are great but the spa is in terrible shape. This is my second visit in two months. During my last visit, the heater was out in the spa waiting area. It was barely 50 degrees outside and not much warmer inside. On my visit on January 4, 2020; the heater is still not working. This time it was 47 degrees outside and probably a little above 50 inside. Some patrons were so cold that they went outside and huddled around the fireplace on the patio in an attempt to stay warm. I had booked a 90 minute massage. The massage table facerest was broken and I had to physically hold it in place with both hands during my massage. This is my fourth visit in less than a year. Very disappointed in how Marriott cares for its property. read more

One of the worst massages I ever received!!! This place is beautiful but the services are anything but! I told my therapist please do NOT massage my scalp. Guess what! She spent 30 mins intentionally massaging my scalp. When she massaged my back it felt like a feather was being brushed on me. No pressure what so ever! Biggest waste of $175!!!! I booked a prenatal massage here and it was fabulous! I had Stephany and she was wonderful. She explained every part of how the massage would go, made sure I was comfortable at each step, and even got me a bigger robe when the one I had was a bit too small for my pregnant belly. My husband received a deep tissue massage, and we met up in the relaxation room to just hangout for a bit after our massages. It was so nice to just lounge for a bit before heading out. My husband and I paid in about a million spa finder giftcards we received for Christmas, and Daniel at the front desk was so nice about it. My fiancee and I were in town to celebrate our anniversary, so we booked the "Romantic Retreat" package, to include a 60 minute couples massage, followed by 30 minutes in the private hot tub. The service itself was fantastic! The massage therapists were top-notch and listened to our needs, wants, and our specific preferences. The private suite with private hot tub was incredible--such a relaxing, romantic experience! Overall I felt like it was definitely worth what we paid for it. The only reason I'm docking them a star, is the pressure at the front desk relating to tipping. I'm spending $375 before tip for this experience, so when I get to the front desk and I'm told the standard tip is 20% ($75!), taking me to $450, I was a bit taken aback. Then, when I asked to just tip $20 to each massage therapist, I was asked "Oh my, were you dissatisfied with your service!?" No, I just don't think I need to tip $75 when I'm already spending $375! Just felt like a guilt trip that I didn't need after such a relaxing experience--really harshed the vibe at the tail-end of what was supposed to be a relaxing, romantic time. All-in-all I still felt like it was worth it, but the pressure/guilt/shame trip surrounding the tipping situation felt really awkward, and totally avoidable. read more

The Spa at Laguna Cliffs (located at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott) is a small, day spa that's great for hours of pampering, especially for its location overlooking the water. My friends and I lucked out with mother nature as we layed out poolside in 'kinis in December. :) While small and a bit cramped in the locker areas, the jacuzzi, wet & dry saunas are great for a group of 5 or less to enjoy. The spa staff was attentive and all of our respective massages ranging from deep tissue to relaxation were well received. Outside of the waiting/relaxation area is an outdoor fireplace and patio that's great for breakfast or lunch. Spa service prices are average for the area. read more

Nena gave me the best facial ever. She is very attentive and knowledgeable. The spa is smaller than Burke Williams, but after going to see Nena, my skin has improved so much, I can't go anywhere else. I had issues with blackheads and oily t- zones but not anymore. First, the hotel location is perfect - truly stunning and spectacular. I walked into the spa and the lady at reception was sweet and gave me a tour of the beautiful facilities. The ambiance is light, airy, while also tranquil and relaxing. Come early so you can take full advantage of the amenities! Before the massage that I booked, I sat in the steam room and sauna to relax and loosen up. The masseuse was amazing. Hands down one of the best massages I've ever had in my life, I left there feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and physically better (I have chronic back problems). My wife and I went this afternoon for a relaxing Sommelier massage. The therapeutic oils smelt amazing! You can't go wrong for $140 a person. The spa offers a spa, steam room, and Sauna. The massage therapists were very friendly and accommodating to your needs especially in areas that you wanted more attention in. Took a day off from work to hang out with girlfriends and we planned on spending a day of relaxation at this spa. My friend chose it not because she's been there before but she wanted to scope the location out for her future wedding. So we got there thinking we'll have time for a light lunch but since one of us ran late (grrr... j/k =) we couldn't. So instead we placed an order for lunch to be delivered soon after our treatments... Oh wait, I got ahead. When we entered the lobby, there were 2 ladies behind the desk and neither really greeted us. We had to go up to them and make them look away from that precious monitor to sign us in. When she finally acknowledged us, we checked in and that's when we asked if we can order lunch. She said Ya sure I'll make sure it gets delivered right after your treatments. (Should Have Definitely Confirmed This!) The lady who showed us around was nice, the locker room area was small but clean, and the lounge waiting area was ok. They had chocolate covered coffee beans, dried apricot, and this really REALLY good trail mix. I was asking my friends who had a Ziploc bag coz I wanted to snack on it later! Ha ha, of course I didn't do it! We all got their Tropical Exfoliation special which is a salt scrub with an oil of your choice. And I almost forgot that at the beginning we were asked to choose which fragrance we wanted for our rub and we were told that their supply is limited so we may not get what we want. We all wanted the same and she was like Oh ok, I'll see if I can make it work. ??? The treatment was awesome! Our masseuses (too bad I can't recall names) were all very professional, polite, and pleasant. After the treatment, we were all exicted and very much ready for our lunch when lo and behold, we were told that they didn't place our order. 30 mins later the manager came (the one at the beginning who said she was going to place our order!) and apologized and offered us champagne or cider on the house. Where's the food? Well she told us that they are "hunting" it down. ??? Ok, I guess they needed to hunt that chicken still for my friend's grilled chicken sandwich! So another 30 mins (for a total of one hour wait) our food finally came. It was delicious but maybe because we were starving! While we ate, the same manager came out and told us that she will be giving us a 50% discount on our order because it was late. At the end, she ended up taking more than 50% so that was pretty great! Sorry this was so long... in the end, I enjoyed this place the most because of the company I was with. The spa itself was pretty typical and not the best out there. read more

I spa alot...so I know a good spa from a bad spa, as a local to the area I try & keep my business close to home. This spa offers a discount to locals & is well worth it. The selection of services is adequate. The tucked away lounge area is small yet tranquil, I preferred the outside area near the fireplace....the locker rooms were adequate for the size of the spa, lush towels, but the slippers are rather chunky funky...Mostly my ratings is based on the service I received...Shannon was my therapist for the 2 treatments I had...Massage...like no other, fantastic! & my facial...was excellent, I felt so soft for the rest of the day & perfectly relaxed. She was very experienced & knew what my body needed & how best to treat my facial You can't help but feel good when you walk out the door & see that beautiful view. If you have the opportunity definitely try the Vitamin C facial. Not only did my skin glow, but it felt soft, and hydrated. Facilities are ok, massage was ok, at best I would say this spa is just OK. The men's and women's locker rooms have a spa, steam room and sauna which is nice. They don't offer much in their relaxation room compared to other spas I have been to that offer tea, champagne, fruit etc. Just some water and nuts.The locals discount is also a nice touch. My massage wasn't really the relaxing massage I had signed up for. I felt like it was closer to a deep tissue massage, and my back is still pretty sore from it. When I told the therapist the pressure felt more intense than I was used to she told me I was just sensitive to the massage because it had been so long since I had last had a massage... at first I thought maybe she was right, (although I've never had that experience with a swedish massage) but now that I am feeling the effects afterwards I know I probably should have had her ease up. Like a previous poster I went here for a makeup trial for my wedding. It was awful. Two hours after having it on I looked older than I do without makeup. The woman didn't listen to what I wanted and as the previous poster mentioned I couldn't not tip her since it is built in. Since I was having a hard time finding someone I called a couple days later to see if I could talk to the makeup artist to see if she could make any adjustments. The front desk took my message and I never heard back from her. Needless to say I canceled all of our hair and makeup appointments for the day of my wedding. This is probably my favorite spa in southern Orange County. I love that it is open with natural light. It has a beautiful spa patio with fireplace where you can have lunch or a wine and cheese platter as you desire. The staff is always incredibly kind and knowledgeable. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful ladies night out here and we will be back very soon. I got a facial by Shannon and my skin looks incredible! My friend got a hot stone massage by Rosalie and she said she could practically melt it felt so good. The facilities are always clean and tidy. Wheel of the steam room and jacuzzi. Every visit to the spa is rejuvenating experience. From the moment you walk through the door you are completely pampered and well taken care of. The staff is always cheerful and on focused on your well being. One huge thing for me is how well maintained and clean the facilities are. I could go on and on about this place and hope that others will enjoy themselves as much as I do here. The purpose of this review is to not concentrate on the hotel as it's starting to show its age; need I say more than issues with ants. The focus of our review should concentrate entirely on the Spa and their Lead Esthetician, Tammy. She is Orange County's best kept secret and the only reason my husband and I will go to the Spa. Her talent, knowledge and demeanor are world class and second to none. My only complaint, and I am not alone, is that Tammy doesn't work at one of the other world class resorts further up the coast...We get the impression that her talent is squandered in Dana Point. I am not accustom to posting Yelp reviews, but felt the need to do so in this case with the hope that others become aware of Tammy, Orange County's best kept secret. Thank you.
