I started my 3-day addiction innocently enough by entering at noon to grab a water for lunch that was inbound to our training room upstairs. Water, sure whatever. When I opened the door it was fresh baked cookies and craft sodas. Having given up caffeine I tried a Dad's root beer and grabbed 2 cookies for dessert. My cookies were a hit upstairs as I ended up going back down for an assorted dozen. Day 2 was a couple cookies and a root beer Josh recommended. Delicious! Day 3 was more cookies and a milkshake since our local staff recommended it. Good call as it was amazing. Great food, great selection and the best part was Josh. What a great little spot for a post meal treat. As I have a dairy intolerance that is particularly bad with softserve other dairy based ice creams, I was delighted to lean that The Soda Bar has a variety of dairy free options I can mix and match to create the perfect frozen treat. The staff is always so nice and accommodating. My go to is the Volunteer with the rasberry sorbet instead of the vanilla ice cream. Cold and refreshing it is the perfect post meal dessert. I'll start off by saying due to my lactose-intolerance I didn't try the ice cream, but my nieces, nephews, ad sister said it was very good and they'd go again. I had the root beer and it was delightful, and just the right refreshing drink after a day of bike riding. We were a bug group but it didn't take too long to get out order, and the staff was very friendly. It was very cold indoors, but it was open and airy. Tried this place out today cause I was in the mood for snow cone. For 15 bucks we got a custom shaved ice with tigers blood and pineapple syrup that's it and then the volunteer shaved ice creation. My husband liked his but I was not a fan of mine and mine was simple cause it really didn't have much flavor to it cause they didn't put enough syrup. The guy was training a new person so it took forever as we were the only ones in there when we ordered and it took 15 minutes from start to finish to get both items ordered. Needed a sweet treat to end the evening and found the Soda Bar! Place is tucked back in a plaza (Fountains at Gateway) and connected to a super cute home goods store called Homegrown Market. Tons of sweet treats to pick from but had to go for the shaved ice. I got the Clark Kent shaved ice - classic rainbow ice cream and my husband got the Volunteer - creamsicle flavor. I was impressed with the portion size and all for $6.00. Shaved ice on top and then ice cream at the bottom. Both were super tasty and hit the spot. The best thing I have gotten was the ICE CREAM TACO! I was able to get a few different ice cream flavors and a few toppings. How did I not know this existed until last week? The Soda Bar is amazing! The extensive menu of fun sodas, shakes, sundaes, and other sweets was a little overwhelming, but also allows for each customer to get their favorite flavors! I must say it will be hard to try something else on the menu because the buckeye sundae was perfection! The waffle cones were sweet and fresh as well! Tonight after dinner with my boys at Camino Real Mexican Restaurant, they wanted to go out for some ice cream. We discussed a number of places we could go, and my oldest suggested The Soda Bar, where one of his buddies worked. I had never been here before tonight, but was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering, the place was buzzing with smiles, laughs, and squeals of excitement from both young and older patrons. There were large signs advertising all the tasty creations to choose from or you could create your own. My youngest son spotted a coconut and chocolate Italian ice which he decided on and my oldest chose a frozen latte of some sort. Being the peanut butter and chocolate fan that I am, I chose a Sunday with malt balls, recess pieces. They were all very tasty, but none of us finished our desserts. My kids and I decided to end the summer buy searching middle TN for the best drinkable ice cream, not scoop-able but drink able. So 1st stop On our search was The Sosa bar. The place is very trendy and located right next to a splash pad. So you can cool your insides and outsides lol. I had the kisses and cream float blended. I enjoyed the unique flavor of red velvet cake and The soda. My daughter got "Its a Bird, it's a plane made with Superman ice cream. She was not a fan. Said it had to much soda in the float and my son had the "Funfetti" made with birthday cake ice cream and he enjoyed the unique flavor. After trying all three I would say mine was the best flavor. However when we were done my daughter ranked the place a 2 out of 10, my son a 7 and I would say a 4. So will ranked the place a three. This is based on price flavor and experience. Price is a little high at $7.00 for a float Flavor is decent, but having to watch the folks read a recipe step by step. Says they haven't mastered the float making experience. I thought I'd stop by for the first time while out running errands and the shop itself is really inviting. There was a young man who took my order. The shop was clean and organized. I ordered the UT dream cream soda float, which is made with orange dreamsicle ice cream and mixed with a vanilla syrup and orange soda. I enjoyed the drink, it was tasty, but I think a bit overpriced..a little over $6. Ice cream and craft soda. The Soda Bar has a long list of craft sodas (you can get this by itself) and an even longer list of craft soda floats it makes with those sodas. Examples: Kisses and cream (red velvet ice cream with vanilla cream soda, housemade whipped cream, white chocolate drizzle, and a cherry on top), Sassy Strawberry (strawberry ice cream with pomegranate lemonade, housemade whipped cream, strawberry puree, chocolate drizzle, and a cherry on top), Brown Bessie (midnight chocolate ice cream with butterscotch root beer, housemade whipped cream, nutella drizzle, mini chocolate chips, and a cherry on top), and 20 Below (vanilla ice cream with classic hot cocoa, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top). I went with the Kisses and Cream, and my husband went with the Brown Bessie. They were both delicious. Were they perfect? No. The cherries are those terrifying red cherries that have been bathed in a terrifying chemical bath for who knows how long (make your own cherries - they taste so much better!), and the ice cream was a bit too cold and didn't begin to soften in the soda for quite a while (so we drank most of our soda first and then had ice cream by itself). I forgot to request for the condensed milk topping with coco shavings, but it was already super sweet! Service was friendly. So happy they were able to stay open during the pandemic. I'd plotted and schemed for a way to come here and eat my body weight in frozen syrupy goodness for months. When I was tasked with bringing democracy to Rutherford County, I knew I had my chance. So as to make my sugar high efforts seem laudable, I had the perfect cover: I was going to treat my friends' children to shaved ice/ice cream/soda and be the best 'Uncle John' ever. My prize for doing so: my own shaved ice/ice cream/soda AND being the alpha adult to my friends' children. This could not go wrong. Until it did. Sort of. My plan to treat the kids to icy goodness hit a snag and the parents ixnayed my plans. For a brief second, I thought about defeat. But then I realized that I was all the way down in Murfreesboro, it was HOT and I needed - nay, *deserved*, this treat. I'd dreamt of this moment for months. I wasn't about to let my blown cover get in the way of relishing a childhood indulgence. Driving over to the Fountains, the Soda Bar was even more beautiful than I remembered. There's so much to look at and contemplate. I'd advise having a plan. Like the sirens of myth, the bright, multi-colored sodas called to me from their cooled perch but I was able to break away and focus on what I needed: shaved ice. Shaved ice is the better purchase because most of the shaved ice options COME WITH ICE CREAM!!! There is no losing here. Unable to make a choice, the patient woman behind the counter led me to the Hawaiian Sunset. Before I get to that, I should say that had I had my wits about me, I probably would have chosen the Freedom Rocks because CAPTAIN AMERICA ICE CREAM AND POP ROCKS. But, I was completely hypnotized by the menu board. It's a fat kid's dream come true. Okay. Back to the Hawaiian Sunset: DREAMSICLE ice cream TOPPED WITH pineapple, caramel AND orange dreamsicle shaved ice TOPPED WITH snow cap AND toasted coconut. I had no idea what I was doing. My body was going through the motions of ordering, nodding and paying but I was not fully conscious of my actions/behavior. When I tell you that I was gifted with one of the biggest desserts I've ever seen... I was intimidated. I was unsure. I was... in love from the first bite. You guys! Y'all just don't know. YOU DON'T KNOW!! Ice cream and shaved ice. Multiple flavors. Multiple textures. The total cost was $6 and some change and it was incredibly worth it. This is the dessert sensation of the summer. I was pleased to note that after I ordered (and waddled to the counter to start gorging) the place filled up. Other than when I want to order, this business should ALWAYS be busy. As I told the owner, if this existed when I was a kid and had access to it, diabeetus cat would have come for me before age 10. And I would have been too weak from eating ice cream and three types of shaved ice to fight him off. It's a good thing I discovered this place at the age of 28. I made sure to take lots of photos. Sure, I could say they were for social media but the truth of the matter is that I used them to a.) taunt the children for whom I was to be their shaved ice dealer and b.) sow the seeds of insurrection for their parents... who would be on the receiving end of the kids' ire for missing out. #winning read more

I have been a couple of times...solo and with family. The people (mostly teens) who work here are exceptionally well trained and provide great service with a smile. Finally gave this place a try. I didn't try any of the ice cream based drinks because the kids were enjoying the Splash Pad. However, the lemonade was really good--not too sweet and not too sour. I had the Pineapple Lemonade and the kids had the Strawberry Lemonade. The staff were friendly and helpful. On a day when it is not quite as hot we will definitely try the ice cream based drinks. They have so many options and location is really not bad. They have seating inside and outside.
