I love a good Boba drink, and this is the place I will always come for one. A friend introduced me…read moreto this wonderful shop. So, I was telling a friend I was looking for a very good Boba place. She suggested CoCo's, and I got the directions. Imagine my surprise, it was next door to a place I go to regularly. I wondered why I hadn't seen this cafe before. The inside was so cute, it had a playful side and a lounge nighttime side, if that makes sense. I can see being here at night. I bet this place is very busy at night. It actually was busy when I was there. I tried to take my pictures away from people. I ordered the Honeydew Smoothie with the Tapioca Pearls. I have to say those pearls stood out. I never had pearls taste so good; they were so tasty and chewy. I was actually stirring my straw, moving the pearls around to get a lot of them at once to come through the straw. Now, granted, on its own, the pearls were coming through, but I think I got a little greedy. I also noticed there are food items on the menu. I saw more than a few entrees I like, and some I want to try. I want to dry the Rice Ball, Fried Tofu with Peanut Sauce, and more. There's so much here to try, and I can't wait. The question is, how did I not know about CoCo's?!

The large boba was $9 and some change and I personally always add at least a little bit of tip so that made it over $10 for a simple black milk tea with boba. The service was quick which I appreciated even though the place was packed, and the ambiance was bustling with people and staff for the short time I visited. Would not be my first choice for boba. Taste: 7.5/10 Price: $10.74 for one drink with $1 tip Ambiance: pretty standard for fast casual, wouldn't be somewhere I'd hang out for studying.

We're out of towners from Houston, and somehow craved Filipino food. So when we were in Austin, I…read morewasn't sure what to expect. This place happened to be just a few minutes from our hotel and I'm really glad we gave it a shot. First off, it's very mom-and-pop -- no frills, straight to the point, and focused on the food. I did think it was interesting that they also operate as a Chinese restaurant, but honestly, it's probably a smart move given the area. More ways to bring people in the door. The staff were incredibly friendly. It genuinely felt like being back in the Philippines. They were also super accommodating with our toddler, which always earns bonus points from me. We ordered the pansit, sizzling sisig, and sizzling chicken BBQ and all three were delicious. The pansit was savory and loaded with veggies and shrimp. The sisig was nicely peppery with just the right amount of spice. The sizzling chicken BBQ was such a great twist on the classic -- I might actually prefer it this way over skewers. It was easier to eat and came with extra sauce to drizzle over rice. Even though we were stuffed and already had to-go boxes, we couldn't skip halo-halo. It was the perfect ending -- refreshing, sweet, and exactly what we needed. If I lived here, I'd honestly be a regular. If you're looking for solid Filipino food in Austin, this is definitely a spot to check out.

It's a nice and hefty portion and also comes with either steamed or fried rice. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of halo halo the last time I went - I really enjoyed it the one time I tried it and clearly it's popular if it ran out. Service is extremely friendly upon entering and throughout the meal. The food came out quick and piping hot, and they were ready with the to-go containers for our leftovers. Inside is a cozy feel and we were seated at a half booth table. The location itself is located in a plaza and parking was not an issue either time I went.

Beef Kare-Kare with tripe. The tripe is ok but was expecting the honeycomb variety so you can save some money by omitting it.
