Panicking, and knowing that finding someone locally to work on a Sprinter (especially on short notice) was going to be nearly impossible, I started to scour the Central Coast. SLAR&S not only diagnosed the burnt emissions sensor, they were able to get and replace the part, recharge my AC, and even pulled off my bumper (at my request!) so I could get the new tow package on. Before a cross-country road trip, I took my diesel truck in for an oil change and paid extra for a general inspection. Since it was a diesel, I specifically asked them to check the fuel filter as well. When they called to let me know the truck was ready, I was told everything looked great. A few days later, while driving about 70 mph near Kingman, Arizona, the engine suddenly died. I had the truck towed to the Chevrolet dealership, where they diagnosed a severely clogged fuel filter as the cause of the breakdown. While inspecting the vehicle, they also showed me the air filter, which was so old it had started to disintegrate. It was packed with leaves and debris and clearly had not been inspected recently. Thankfully, there doesn't appear to be any lasting damage to the truck. However, the breakdown cost me half a day of travel, an unexpected overnight stay in Kingman, a towing bill, and nearly $500 at the Chevrolet dealership to replace the filters and get me back on the road. I understand that one employee's oversight doesn't necessarily reflect an entire business. However, after specifically requesting these items be checked and then experiencing a breakdown caused by something that should have been caught, I've lost confidence in the service. If you use this shop, I would recommend double-checking any maintenance items that are supposed to have been inspected.

Avoid this shop for deceptive billing and hostile customer service. I called ahead and was quoted…read more$58 for a smog check, including the certificate. I had a 20% coupon, which a friend gave me because she was moving to San Diego. Instead of applying the coupon properly, they used a pricing trick to bypass it. On the exact same line of the bill, they list both the Original and Current Estimate at $58.00. But on that same line, they inflated Labor to $59.75, tacked on the Smog Certificate as an $8.25 "Part," and applied a flat -$10 discount--with only these last three items marked with a yellow highlighter to force the total back to $58. When I confronted her about this confusing and deceptive setup, the owner's daughter (the President) lied and said I had told her I had a coupon when I called the day before. She became incredibly loud, aggressive, and combative. She completely spoke over me and refused to let me get a word in. Zero stars for transparency and customer service.
