I've been in here a couple times, but never bought anything because the prices made my head spin. Additionally, if I was in the income bracket this store targets in the first place, there'd be absolutely nothing for me to buy. All their stock is either "sparkle femme hot pink vibrator for LADIES uwu" or "TACTICAL fleshlight for MANLY men", all the people saying that this store is "inclusive" seem to be very...white, cis, and straight. There's no reason for a store that goes on and on about how progressive they supposedly are to be selling such aggressively gendered products. I do not feel comfortable as a gender minority entering this store, as all I see isn't "acceptance", it's me being told that I'm just a woman with the serial numbers filed off. I'd love it if whoever they have stocking this place decided to actually put the effort in to find REAL gender inclusive sex toys rather than just going for whatever $300 bright pink vibrator is gonna give them the most profits. The store is understaffed. When I walked in it was packed - at 3 PM on a Friday - with people just rubbernecking. All staff was behind the counter being perky but not out on the floor helping. Every single person in the store was the same age as my children. It made me inherently uncomfortable. The store would have been impossible to navigate for someone in a wheelchair even if it wasn't packed. The BDSM products are hidden in a back, poorly lit corner. All of it looked to be of horrible quality. The dildo harnesses are abysmal. Either they only carry knock-off Terra Firms or they buy the cheapest possible model. The bag I got with my purchase was too small for the product so not only did it stick out, but the bag ripped. Their website would be greatly enhanced if there were reviews. While customers might not want to put them up clearly labeled anonymous store employees could put more detailed explanations. Currently, the website has less information than the boxes products are sold in. Last but not least, the store is poorly organized. Very expensive vibrators are front and center, and everything else is haphazardly placed. Signs explaining what each section has are small. Yes, this review is harsh. I worked in female-owned and operated sex positivity stores for over a decade. This store is ageist, ableist, classist, and a whole host of other issues. read more

This business is run with integrity and care. I ordered a product that had an uncomfortable defect. When I reported this, not only did they respond quickly to let me know they were doing a full investigation of their entire inventory of that item (which I didn't suggest directly), they resolved the whole process faster than I would have imagined possible -- all while during a holiday sale weekend. They refunded the item promptly, gave me a prepaid return label, and smartly and compassionately advised me that they didn't recommend a replacement. Smitten Kitten is an amazing sex shop on so many levels, the opposite of the creepy places that women don't go into. It's queer-owned and run and thus very very LGBT friendly, and the T is not silent - they are very trans-friendly, and staff have included QTPOC at various points. The decor is pleasant and welcoming, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and their inventory is very well curated. Smitten Kitten strives to get toys that are ethically made in both the sense of appropriate worker treatment and environmentally friendly - there's no cheap PVC crap here to offgas and slowly melt. This may make things a little pricier, but let's get real - your junk deserves the best, and this is where to get it. What's even better and incredibly striking is that the space is set up to be handicapped accessible. The outer door has one of those big buttons you can push to have the door open. There are no steps. The aisles and space are set up so that you can get your wheelchair or scooter inside and move around easily. Aisles are clear. The bathroom is a single, so it's trans-friendly and it is also handicapped-accessible. At this point there is nowhere else locally I would go for adult toys or books, because Smitten Kitten is just so welcoming and pleasant. I have been to this store twice! Once, a few years ago. I went with a friend, and were in awe at the variety and progressiveness of this shop! There used to be a sign (or window painting?) When I visited last weekend looking for a starter dildo from their massive selection (Its well organized but as someone who knows so little, slightly overwhelming), I got multiple recommendations. At the risk of sounding trite, I'm sorta smitten with The Smitten Kitten. Some naughty toy stores are neon-signed sleaze-baskets, where you kinda feel as if you could catch something just by browsing. You just want to get in and get out without making eye contact or risking a run-in with your 10th grade math teacher. Smitten Kitten is NOT one of those stores. It's welcoming and genuinely fun to look around, try a few lubricants from the tester bottles and play with the pretty little (and big) devices they have out on the shelves. They seem to be very discriminating with their stock, so you can be sure to find a manageable selection of quality merchandise. Non-toxic and eco-friendly are things I look for in almost all of my shopping, and the women here were able to direct me to all things non-toxic, eco-friendly, organic, paraben-free and rechargeable. The service here is the best part, whether you're by your lonesome or with your special lady or gent (it's a good store for couples). Asking a question in a store such as this has the potential to be embarrassing or uncomfortable, but The Smitten Kitten employees are friendly and helpful, without judgment. While spending a lonely week in town on business I made a special trip to check out this store. In one of those funny small-world situations, the owner of the store went to high school with my best friend's boyfriend way out in Portland, OR (meanwhile, myself and said BFF and her BF all live in Philly). When he heard I was coming to Minneapolis for the week he told me to go here and say hi to Clare for him. I must say, this is the classiest adult store I've ever been in. Philly has a few decent adult stores that aren't totally sleazy, but they're really expensive, geared more toward BDSM, and their customer service isn't the best. This little shop blows them all out of the water with its well-curated selection of quality toys- not much junk sold here, a few cheapie vibrators but primarily good 100% silicone items. Their staff was really friendly and approached customers in the store to help find things and answer questions without being pushy. I overheard one guy give a customer a lube 101 intro and invited her to try out the samplers and test them for smell, taste, etc. They also have a large selection of ethically made adult videos and other items of kinky interest. Without revealing more than a lady should, I didn't leave empty-handed. Clare did happen to be there and I said hi while ringing up my purchases. She was super nice and we had a little chat before I went on my way.
