This spot is located on the right side of a kung fu studio. Once we entered, it was very quiet…read moreinside but there were signs on the doors that guided us here. We were the only ones there on a Sunday afternoon, which was nice in a way because we had the coach and space to ourselves. We opted for the Standard, which was $26.98/person for 45 minutes. Throw first and pay at the end. First, we scanned a QR code and signed an online waiver. Then, the coach explained the rules and provided demos of how to throw with one hand and both hands behind and over the head. He was very friendly and provided tips and tricks throughout our session to improve our aim. Despite using a hatchet, which is meant for one hand, I thought it was too heavy so I had to use both hands. If you have enough arm strength, one hand is better because you can line up the axe with the target, which helps improve your aim. It was definitely harder than it looked and felt like a full body workout! The axe handles and targets looked a little run down. In addition, there were a lot of wood chips on the ground and I almost got some splinters. Side notes: 1.) 10-minute walk from Colma BART station 2.) Bathrooms available in the hallway outside. *Verdict: Unique activity for a date or hangout with family & friends

Since it wasn't busy, our group of 3 was able to play simultaneously. While the ambiance is slightly lacking with it being super cold and brightly lit with gym lighting, the experience was really enjoyable. Our host was nice enough to lend us a tripod as we were trying to record some of our games! Also as the last group of the night, we got to try the large heavy axes. My advice would be to dress comfortably and expect some light strain on your back and arms. The place is sort of tucked in the martial arts building and at night does not look so welcoming. But there are decent sized lot right outside. With our student emails, we also got a discount during payment at the end.

When you book online, it comes out to $22pp. We thoroughly enjoyed smashing everything. You don't need anymore time than 20mins honestly. I recommend coming fully clothed with long sleeves and pants on. If you're planning on going somewhere after, I suggest bringing a change of clothes. You will leave with small shards of glass in your clothing. I also recommend bringing extra clothing because their suits are hot and heavy. & I'm pretty positive they don't clean or spray down any of their protective gear in between customers. I only wore their headgear, and the helmet hasn't even touched my face. I was stunned. I literally said, "Whoa, I can smell the last person that wore this." Yes, you do not smell cleaning solution on their gear or when you walk in. So I imagine their suits aren't being cleaned either. Right after I said that he "reassured" me that they clean the gear. If I ever decide to come back I'll make sure to use my spray I always carry with me. I was so caught up in the moment I didn't think to go grab my disinfectant. Now I'm stuck with a cough.

Sawdust in my hair, zero regrets…read more We came for the ax throwing and stayed for the vibes. Get Axed in Roseville is a wild, well-run good time -- think beer-pong-energy targets, tic-tac-toe projection games, and enough illuminated targets to keep everyone entertained between throws. The staff are friendly, informative, and actually helpful with coaching throws and explaining the games, which made the whole experience way less intimidating. You can order cocktails (solid pours) and snacks -- another party got a stack of pizzas from Costco and the place handled it like pros. Bathrooms were huge and spotless, which is always a relief. The space is cozy and wooden, so yes, bring your sense of adventure. I left with sawdust in my hair and a grin. Photos attached show the games and the menu -- great spot for a rowdy date night or group hang. Go with friends, wear something you don't mind getting a little rustic, and have fun. 1) Axe lane and illuminated targets -- bring your A-game. 2) Tic-tac-toe projection -- more competitive than it looks. 3) "GET AXED" beer menu -- drink options for every palate.

Follow Get Axed Roseville on Facebook or Instagram: @getaxedroseville There is no cover charge to dance. Locally established line dance instructor Jen Michele teaches 3 dances over the course of 2 hours, and dances are called in between lessons. She will call out the steps for the first couple walls for the easier dances. The floor is not wood. The dance floor space is an odd shape: a small square area in front of the DJ then overflow into the walkway from the front door to the first axe-throwing lane. I would say it's the shape of a key or the state of Oklahoma. You won't always be able to see the instructor, so you will have to listen carefully to the steps, copy the surrounding line dancers, or wait for her to move closer to you to demo. After 9 PM, you can make song requests to the DJ to get your favorite line dances called. You'll need to provide the name of the song to the DJ because he's not a line dancer. If you fear a zombie apocalypse, there are 9 reservable lanes to hone your axe throwing. Each lane comes with its own reserved table. There are 12 digital axe-throwing games. This would make for a fun night out with friends. The rate is currently $10 per person per half hour. You can reserve for 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. There is a rate discount for 2 hours ($35 per person). You can also find Groupon deals to save money. You can also purchase Membership Passes (5 hours for $80, 10 hours for $140). You can also book 2 hour parties for a minimum of 15 people at $20 per person. Get Axed Roseville has a new game room with 4 pool tables, darts, a bocce ball court, shuffleboard, and a terraball table. In addition, there are 18 TVs. Thursday nights at 7 PM is Trivia Night. There is no cost to participate. Maximum of 6 players per team. Axe throwing is only $20 per person for two hours. Get Axed has a 4 page menu of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The menu changes monthly. Great selection and variety at affordable prices. I like how the beer menu is organized into different flavor profiles, such as Nutty, Fruity, Sour, Roasted, or Malt. Beer and beverages (i.e., soda, nonalcoholic beer, energy drinks, Starbucks, sparkling water, iced tea, coconut water, Gatorade) come in cans or bottles. You can also purchase various bags of potato chip flavors there. For a fun and affordable afternoon or evening activity with friends, check out Get Axed in Roseville. It's located in the Nugget plaza on Pleasant Grove Blvd and Fairway Dr.
