I called on a Friday and was able to get an appointment for the next morning a few hours after I was scheduled to fly in. Very spacious, open, airy space conveniently located in Charlotte's South End district. It was fairly quiet for a Saturday at 11:30a. Just two stylists in the shop. My stylist said they're still only half-staffing since Covid and with so many clients working from home, Saturday's are not the super busy days they used to be! So I scheduled a blow-out (wash/blow dry/style) so my hair would look well done for the wedding. Kerry, my stylist, was great. She was honest, straightforward, and tried every which way from Sunday to get my abysmally straight fine hair to do something, anything, other than lay flat on my scalp. We landed on an up-do when the "wear it down" options didn't go as planned. My hair sucks, so I did appreciate the valiant effort and I was pleased with the end result. Thank you, Kerry!

I rarely write reviews but when I say this has been the BEST experience I have ever had at a salon…read moreit definitely was. Lauren is by far the kindest most transparent and trustworthy stylist I have ever met. From the start she was quick at replying and her communication by far unmatched. I was impressed with her transparency in every aspect. She was honest about both her ability to achieve what I wanted along with her recommendations for me given my current hair health. For Lauren, keeping my hair healthy and reaching my hair goals were at the top of her priority. I never once felt uncomfortable, and the entire appointment felt super personable. She was also super honest about the price and what upkeep would look like- and that is a conversation that can sometimes feel taboo but not with her. She is such an amazing stylist and her ability to make you feel welcomed and clear minded with what to expect is by far the best I've ever experienced. I will most definitely be coming back and I look forward to seeing her as my future stylist because that is just how good she is. The vibes were TOP TIER and I am super happy with how my hair came out! I went in looking for a balayage and wanted to go blonde but after a very thorough consultation with Lauren (with complimentary snacks) we decided on a more brownish look since I had lots of box dye and she don't want to fry my hair. Of course she provided a range of options if I did want to go blonde that same day, such as adding highlights or doing a baby foil (which she was so kind to explain what everything meant and how that would look maintenance wise along with price!). In the end I decided to just follow up later on to go lighter! The whole time she does not at all make you feel pressured or uncomfortable or tries to up-sale anything- she even told me that if I loved it and didn't want to do another appointment that that was totally okay too- there was absolutely no pressure! For my personal hair I ended up paying around $290 and considering the entire appointment and the thoroughness of it, I felt the price was more than justified! She is wonderful and if you're scared of trying a new stylist like I was please consider Lauren!!!

NY fashion week hair styles have nothing on Borealis! Coming for a trim here is a HAIRAPY session…read morethat will leave you so satisfied you'll keep coming back for more. Many salons these days are all smoke a mirrors. They distract you with shiny things in hopes that you don't notice the mediocre hair style they managed to affix atop your head. Well, Borealis breaks that trend wide open. The stylists at Borealis are extremely professional and enjoy listening to some great music while you get your trim on. My personal experience has been with stylist Noel Lance. I cannot tell you how GREAT he is with color (both men's and women's)!! I've seen him take yesterday's wannabe and turn it into tomorrow's fad. If you decide to hang out with the guys and girls at Borealis, you will notice that the salon has some limited parking. Don't even try to park in the back (you will need a can opener to get out). Parking on the street can be very limited, so I'd suggest parking in the neighboring lot used by many businesses adjacent to the salon. The salon itself is an old house that is an interesting shade of seafoam green. The temperature in the back rooms can get a little warm in the summer, so please dress accordingly. Each stylist accepts credit cards and offer their own hand selected hair care product lines. You will easily make a friend or two with each visit. Everyone is very friendly and eager to satisfy. Again, if you're looking for a great color or cut, ask for Noel Lance! Tell him his Yelpers love his work!!! +1 (704) 287-8434 is his appointment line. PS they love to text if you are a busy person!!
