It was late Friday afternoon in Deadwood and my car would not start. I opened the hood to check…read morethe battery connections. The connections were secure but I discovered that in addition to the electric fault the water pump was leaking. I called South Side Service and explained my predicament. Pat told me that if I could get the car to him he would look at it. I was able to push start the car and drive to his shop. Pat called around to locate a water pump and starter without success. There were no parts available. Not even in Rapid City. We drove the car up onto the hoist and Pat agreed to look at it Saturday. Pat called me Saturday morning and stated that he got the starter working by striking with a hammer to free the brushes. Not a permanent 'fix', but it started the car. Bravo! He was able to stop the water pump leak with a bottle of radiator stop leak. Another temporary 'fix' but good enough for me to try returning to Minneapolis. I stopped at the Chevy dealer in Rapid City to inquire about parts availability. The dealer also stated that there were no parts in the entire region. I continued on to Minneapolis without any problem. The point of this review is to commend Pat of South Side Service for doing what he could on a Saturday. Thank you, Pat. Lee

I made an appointment and Ashley, I apologize if I remember her name wrong, welcomed me. I'm handicapped and too short to get into my sister-in-law's truck as I forgot my portable step. Ashley brought out a tire rim they used for a step stool and it worked perfectly! She even let us take it with us so we could do errands while they did maintenance on the van. She called and gave me an update on the work and also called to let me know they were done. This shop is the best! They've helped my sister-in-law with two issues on her truck at the last minute and still got her in and diagnosed the problem.

While I was at training a groundhog chewed through my wiring harness. A dog got out and tried to get the ground hog and chewed up the bumper and damaged paint on other panels. I was never contacted about the damage and the exhaust was never fixed until I was back and they gave me the car back with damages never being fixed. Sent the car back to get the grill fixed and so the bumper would stay on properly and headlights would mount. Called frequently and got ignored or told "we don't have time". A buddy rode back to Sundance to pick up a tractor battery from an auto parts store. Riding down Cleveland ST, he saw a sign for Woody's HD repair! They had a battery in stock, and he brought it to me and I was on my way. Unfortunately, 20 miles down the road, the battery and engine light came back on, and I knew I had an electrical issue and immediately pulled over. I knew I could not ride the 30 miles back to the shop, so I used the receipt and called Woody's. They sent a trailer and picked me up. Woody's was jammed as this was Sturgis Bike Week. They had correctly identified a burned out stator and had (1) in stock. 2 hours later, I was back on the road and the rest of my trip was without further mechanical issues. Erica, the shop manager and wife of the owner, was the nicest, most understanding person I have ever met. She was very reassuring that my bike was in good hands and would be fixed. The prices were very fair, and Justin, the owner and tech, was very capable. This is an OASIS in the middle of nowhere (as far as a broke down bike is concerned), and all of us felt lucky to be is such good hands. Another surprise was that Deluxe HD was also located across the street (new shop), but I much prefer Independent repair shops.
