A simple menu is reassuring that they mean to excel in a few areas rather than cover all bases. This said the variety of differing events or themed nights goes a long way to round off the menu. Importantly for us an ikea style high chair was available and awaiting us after booking Sunday Lunch. The waitress / owner was friendly and polite to all as well as our child. We most likely will return with our German family due to this language being spoken by the staff. I can not comment on the deserts as we were all far too replete from the marvellous 'waiting platter' and then the deceptively filling roast dinner.

It is part of the Thai Group (thaigrooup.co.uk) of British restaurants serving authentic Thai food in the UK. It is also very delicious. We have another Thai restaurant in Wallingford, but I don't think the food compares. Thai Orchid's food was by far tastier. Plus, I asked for something not on the menu and the chef complied. It was extremely clean, and service was fast and genial. I have to admit the other Thai place is preferred by the locals and is usually busy, and we have been asked to come back another day. If that happens to you, just walk over the bridge and go to Thai Orchid. I feel lucky to have the choice of two Thai restaurants close to me, but given the choice between the two, I'd go to Thai Orchid every time. Also, its exact address is: 72 The Street

The chicken was dry, over done and in need of a sauce of any description. The steaks were served well done after requests for rare and medium rare although they were only too happy to replace. As for everything else food wise, it was what you would like to expect from a chain pub lunch with oversized portioning. On this occasion they seemed very short staffed and the ordering queue became rather laborious when returning for more drinks. Even so, the waitress was still in a polite and proffesional mood. There are numerous outdoor seating options and a childrens play area to boot. I would recommend The Bell for families with toddlers for a cheap lunch without the frills.
