I like the boathouse now. About 8 years ago it was known to me as the place that underage teens would go to get served. The management have now changed and its very family friendly. (Ive only been in the day though!) Usually there are people of all ages. Dog friendly and wheelchair friendly (although you can sit out with a wheelchair, you cant get down to the lowest point due to a couple of outdoor stairs - those there is loads of other places to sit) Very helpful when Ive supported disabled people for lunch times and group meetings. Always happy to accommodate seating / foods etc.
Mixture of comfy sofa seating and formal chairs. £2.99 for fish and chips or steak and chips, the latter of which id had and was very nice. Ive eaten a few times there, and sat outside with my dog in the summer with a baguette and didnt feel awkward or out of place. Large outdoor seating area mainly on one level, though you can take stairs right down to the river (when its not flooded!) and large indoor area. Disabled toilets.
Good value, especially considering the pretty location. When you compare it to how poncy the Boathouse in Benson has got and then raised their prices to match, I dont think you can complain about the boathouse. They also regularly offer different deals, for example I went in at one stage and it was buy one meal, get another free that week. read more
