Although it isn't really that local, this is the pub I consider to be my local. It's too far to walk but it provides a good excuse to get the push bike out and the ride home always seems shorter than the ride there!
Very nice traditional freehold pub with a range of real ales and ciders. Mick and Wendy are very friendly hosts, recently took over as landlord and landlady and seem to have good ideas for the place. I would recommend it to others and look forward to seeing how they progress. A point to note is they have extended their opening hours beyond those kept by the previous keepers, the cider prevents me from remembering exact details but they are open every day and all day long Friday to Sunday I think!
In essence this is a pub like pubs should be. The closing time is open to negotiation, you may be kept waiting at the bar while the landlord finishes his game of darts, there will probably be a dog or two wandering around the bar area - yours will be welcome too, if it is cold there will be a fire lit and if you come more than once then people will make the effort to remember your name.
