I'm genuinely heartbroken by my experience with The Shade Store. I trusted them with something important to me and everything went wrong- from bad measurements, fabrics not matching to the wrong curtain hardware and endless delays. We are on year 2 of an unfinished project. What hurts me the most is how ignored I felt when I asked for updates or progress on the project. I feel brushed off and overcharged. I expected care and professionalism and instead I was left stressed out, disappointed and out of money as I have spent over 10 grand already. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Still awaiting Shade Store's refund on a product that was never (and will never be) rendered as a result of Shade Store's own process issue. I asked for an ETA for the refund and the answer is "I don't have control over the refunds". Essentially, Shade Store overcharged me by thousands of dollars and "have no control over" refunding the part they overcharged for about a month now, and takes no initiative in resolving the error. Paid for 2 sets of drapes, received 0 set. Navigating the Shade Store customer service is more frustrating than dealing with a phone directory. P.S.: The automated response generated by the Shade Store on Yelp is an act to look like they care about customer service. Zero attempt has been made to correct their own mistakes. read more

After our sixth attempt at resolving the issues with our shades, after speaking to their customer service phone line and being rebuffed when requesting a refund without a series of other requirements being fulfilled (including the Shade Store scheduling someone to pick up the shades from our home and inspecting them to make sure we had not damaged them), I wrote a particularly scathing review on Yelp. Finally, someone from the Shade Store reached out. They provided me a refund of the two shades which had not been correctly installed, and offered to replace them for free. (They also requested I remove my prior review from Yelp, which I did.) After sending a very experienced technician to our home (Neal, who I would highly recommend requesting if you choose the Shade Store after reading this saga), our shades were correctly created and installed. read more

This summer (end of June) I purchased 5 cellular light filtering shades that were to open from both the top and bottom. After the installation, 3 of the 5 shades did not close from the top. They had to reorder and replace the shades twice since June for the ones that did not close. After that did not work, they came out to rehang each of the shades hoping that would fix the problem. Today, 2 still not close. Customer service has been called several times and they are slow to return calls after emails and messages. The other day they sent me a credit for $200. This is unsatisfactory since I paid over $500 per shade and 2 still do not close. I am very disappointed in this company and do not recommend. read more

Bethany was such a big help getting shades for our new house! We got light filtering roller shades for our living spaces and black out for our bedroom. The house felt so much more complete and the quality is top notch. They are definitely pricey but the customer service was really great answering all our questions. I needed three motorized blinds replaced in the master bedroom. I contacted The Shade Store to come do an assessment and give me a bid. From the very first conversation that I had with the saleswoman Michelle Greene, I stipulated that the blinds had to work with the existing wall switches when the install was complete. They sent me a quote and I noticed that on the quote it had the controls listed as "Remote". I replied back and reminded her that these blinds had to work with my existing wall switches not a remote. They then changed the method of control on the quote to "Wall Switch" and confirmed to me that the Somfy motors on their blinds would work with our system. I went ahead and paid them and set a date for the install. At the end of the install they handed me a remote! I went through the entire email chain showing them what they had promised and NOT provided and their reply was that hooking it to the system is just not something that they do! Even after clearly stating how the system will be setup in the bid they just basically said "Oh well, too bad". Do NOT trust that they will do what they say. They will promise you what you need but will NOT give you what they promise. read more

After having purchased a shade through The Shade Store and receiving very good service, I naturally called them when I had a problem with a broken pull chain on another blind installed by the previous homeowner and therefore unknown manufacturer. The person I talked to curtly told me they could not help as they did not provide repair service. She also could not tell me where I might go for help. When I asked if that meant if I had the same issue with the shade I bought from them I would be just out of luck, she said no, that they would send out a technician to see if they could make a repair. Then she hung up on me before I could reply. I certainly would have been willing to pay the cost to repair this shade as it is very large and would be expensive to replace when it only needs a new pull chain. July 20,2022 Excellence!! For over a year we had been searching for a place to purchase window blinds. We live in a small town in east Texas and our first attempt was a company in Tyler, they had the blinds we wanted but they wouldn't return phone calls and customer service was greatly lacking in answering questions, getting samples and so on. We then went to another company in another town and had the same issue...they seemed to not care about doing business, answering questions, samples and returning calls. Such frustration! Time was rocking on and during a stay in Dallas we decided to check out the Shade Store on McKinney Ave. From our first visit to the show room it was a pleasant experience. This is where we met Bethany Reynolds, the worlds best sales representative!! She loaded us with samples and answered all our questions the same day we would email or call. With the exception, if it was her day off. Bethany was always pleasant, professional and never seemed to mind going the extra mile when we needed to be educated about motorized blinds, linings, etc. There's a lot of information to sort through when purchasing quality blinds. Our windows were measured and installed by Ray who was thorough and professional from start to finish. The shades were installed February and we've had 5 months to see if there are any issues with the motors and functioning of the blinds. We have been completely satisfied with all the aspects of daily use, including the Shade Store app, which is one of the options for controlling. The app is an awesome tool which we have used while travelling and has the option for schedules and scenes. There has been a few times we have needed technical support and received help immediately. Everyone in techniical has been professional, helpful, and quick to respond. We only have positive comments about our experience and ask for Bethany Reynolds, she will treat you right! read more

Almost every measurement they took in the whole house was wrong so shades were installed wrong (or not able to be installed at all), customer service has been terrible. After a month we are still waiting for this to be corrected. Blackout shades are not blackout at all with a lot of light coming through. In 2021 we purchased a new home in Dallas and 2022 completed our new home build in Wayzata, Minnesota. I worked with John M. in Dallas at the McKinney Ave store for both homes. John is a seasoned pro! The show room is beautiful and well laid out with various products to select. I met with John a couple times in-person to discuss the blue prints for both homes at it relates to window placement. John took me through various swatch colors for roller shades including light filtering, solar and black out depending on each room. John was great in helping me to understand all the fine details of how the shades sit inside the window, valances, light in the house depending on time of day, textures, etc. John made himself completely accessible for further questions with great turnaround time. John set up the installers for measurement for both homes, kept me up-to-date on the product time-line, ship date and scheduled installers for final install. The process was seamless and flawless. We randomly found the Shade Store while shopping around the Knox area. We were walk-ins off the street, but were greeted by Mione as if we had been there many times before. She was extremely pleasant and easy to deal with through the entire process. We completed all the decision making and ordering within a week after they sent someone to our home to measure all the windows. Everything was delivered directly to our home and the installers came by and had it all knocked out in a few hours. I have to give the Shade store 5 stars because of the amazing customer service, the beautiful and trendy store front and the high quality of the product. One of my neighbors recommended the Shade Store. My boyfriend and I walked in and Brandon was the first to help us. By this point, we had talked to at least 3 other "window treatment" businesses to get an estimate on roller shades. Most of the places we talked to insisted we get valences, but we were pretty convinced we wanted clean and simple. When We talked to Brandon, he reassured us that some folks choose not to get the valence. I think it also has to do with the fact that the product is of such high quality that it can go with or without the valence. The brackets look polished and can stand on their own without being covered. Brandon helped us choose our colors and gave us plenty of approx. 6x6 inch samples to take with us. Later that week, someone stopped by the home to measure all of our windows and also take photos of the windows. I highly recommend having someone from the store measure, since they are the experts. After they take the measurements, you'll receive a quote via email. I will admit, I was a little surprised by the cost. It's quite an investment, especially if you have as many windows as we do! But it was honestly worth every penny! We just installed our shades this weekend-- it is very easy to install on your own and there are instructions provided on the website. I was a walk-in customer and Brandon R. was super helpful. We just temporarily moved to Dallas and I thought I wanted to order a shade for our new home, so Brandon gave me a quote and some samples. The I went home and flipped through the Shade Store catalogue and decided I wanted a drape or curtain instead for my window and Brandon quickly answered my myriad questions and gave me a new quote. Then my new idea was too expensive for my budget and Brandon helped me get the price point lower and created yet another quote for me. Two weeks later I had new drapery and hardware shipped to my house, easy-peasy. Brandon was also proactive in checking/being ready to arrange installation services for us (we did not need them in the end, but he was at the ready!) I ordered the blinds for my new home from The Shade Store in November of 2017. The installers that came to measure and then later to install were on time, professional, knowledgeable and just, all in all, a pleasure to deal with. They have a wide variety of products to order from and the ones that I picked out look amazing. Not only are they distinctive, they are quality. In my madness to move in to my new house, I never bothered to review them until today. Recently, one of the plastic clips that held the top of one of my vertical blinds became loose. Most likely because my dog constantly moves that one over to look out of the window. I called them to see if I could order a new clip and how difficult it would be to install it. They told me that there was a lifetime guarantee on their products and transferred me to customer care. The very professional person on the phone told me they would gladly send me out several clips and that they were simple to install so would be happy to walk me through it or send someone out to do it for me.
