My boyfriend had an absolutely terrible experience with The Shade Store. They originally measured incorrectly, then installed them wrong, and now the VERY expensive curtains billow out so we have no air circulation because the vents just go up the curtains. They also sent pull rods way too short for the curtains and have not responded to his numerous requests to fix the curtains and give him the right length pulls. My drapes were redone 3 times due to continuous mis-measurements by the team. I bought custom and paid a custom price and expected the length I wanted (1/2 inch off ground) but each redo continued to measure 2 inches off ground. I was continuously contacted before I paid but then once a payment was made I couldn't get in touch with the team I was working with easily and wasn't contacted for feedback after installation. After almost a year of dealing with re-dos I have given up. I now still have drapes 2 inches off my floor and am disappointed every time I look at them. read more

Excellent experience from start to finish. The sales reps were very helpful in showing the different options and making suggestions based on what we said we were looking for. The blinds were delivered to my house prior to the install date and on the date the installer showed up on time and completed the install quickly and efficiently. He even took away the boxes the new blinds were delivered in and took away the old blinds. Highly recommend! read more

STAY AWAY!!! No matter what the quality of the service the local store has, the entire experience will be a nightmare because of the install service, which is handled from New York. The measurement and install team screwed up three times previously -- they simply missed several windows, they had the wrong drape rods. Then when they got the correct rods, they still missed the installation for a window. But that was not enough: when the installer came to do a measurement for the window they missed previously, he did not call ahead (a policy that is trivial to implement), nor did he allow for any flexibility (e.g. waiting 15 minutes for me to get home). As I am writing this the installation is still not completely done -- six months after walking into the store. Just STAY AWAY. read more

Worst experience ever... once Kristin Summer got my money I couldn't get her back on the phone. I took a day off work to wait for the shipment of blinds. One package was sent to the wrong place so I had to take a second day off! They were supposed to be installed today but it's a 2 person job so the tech couldn't do the installation yet himself. So I will have to take a fourth day off! Also they drop ship the blinds and expect you to lug the stuff in your house. I live on the 5th floor and had to pay someone to bring the blinds up the stairs. Not to mention the two grand I spent! read more

I have been meaning to write this review for a very long time, so it is quite overdue! My husband and I just completed a major renovation to our home in York Harbor, Maine, and we needed window treatments for all of our windows...huge, magnificent windows, very large double windows in bathrooms, master bedroom, guest suite, guest bathroom, great room, and gym. There were many major decisions to be made, due to being near the ocean. Constant sun, glare, chance of fading fabrics, so much to consider. We love the open concept of the big windows, but privacy was also an issue. We were fortunate enough to meet Kristin Summer in the Burlington, MA Shade Store, and she could not have been more patient, professional, wise, helpful, and she treated us like family members. Together, with Kristin, we chose beautiful fabrics for Roman Shades, complementing linens for floor to ceiling pleated drapes, roller shades, cornices, elegant drapery hardware, custom everything! Kristin selected beautiful fabrics, and after our very first visit to The Shade Store, she knew exactly what our style was, our color choices, yet adding that elegant touch of class that makes you immediately say, "we love it!" Even the decision of what kind of cords we wanted, just how much "blackout" was needed for certain rooms, and the willingness to meet all of our needs, for every single room. We are not big fans of white liners behind all of our drapes and shades, because the outside of our home is a taupe color, and we wanted everything to blend in with the outside of our home as well. Needless to say, it was a challenge, but Kristin helped with choosing the perfect liner colors to not only make our home beautiful on the inside, but the outside as well. We recently relocated from MA to FL and were looking for window treatments for our new house in Lakewood Ranch, FL. I found The Shade Store on-line and ordered a catalog and a few samples. We liked what we were sent so we visited the store in Burlington, MA. They were completely helpful, from helping us set up an appointment to get our windows measured in Florida, to selecting and ordering what we wanted for each window, and to getting the window treatments installed in a very reasonable timeframe. Somehow Kristin Summer and Barbara Blessington made the tedious process of purchasing window treatments downright fun. Barbara fielded my initial email inquiry immediately, and followed up promptly at every step. Kristin helped me in the showroom and patiently walked me through countless options, as well as graciously allowing me to take home a large collection of swatches to check out in situ. She even helped me work out how to get the most bang for my buck without making me feel overly frugal. The shades were delivered right on time. It took some time to get an installation appointment, but once the day came I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the tech was. He made sure I knew about the lifetime warranty, and how to ensure that the pull cords are secured from pets and kids. (I was also delighted by the clever magnetic safety design feature that allows the dual cord string to pull apart.) I've always gone with budget-friendly options before (Target, Ikea) but these are worth the added expense: the quality is apparent, and the warranty backs it up. I'm now planning to upgrade other rooms as well. read more

Horrible customer service--and astronomically overpriced. Shades arrived damaged, with broken cords. Wait and delivery time very long for clearly inferior product. Installation is contracted out to a third party--they will never contact you--very nonresponsive. Go to Target instead. read more

I wish I could give 6 stars!! Our experience with the Shade Store in Burlington, particularly with Kristin Summer, was fantastic. My husband and I had just moved into a new construction condo with no window treatments, and had to start completely from scratch for every room in the house. This is particularly daunting when you're a perfectionist who's hobby is interior design. Kristin was extremely talented, creative, and patient with us, which I can imagine was difficult as we didn't have an exact vision of what we wanted but were trying to nail down a certain look. She ended up coming up with something outside the box and completely nailed it!! We are in love with how they came out and get compliments on our window treatments all the time! I have had the same color and curtains for the past 25-30 years. I was looking to update my dining room, kitchen and tv room which are all connected. I contacted Kristin Summer from the Shade Store not knowing what I wanted other than a change with a total new look and feel. Kristin sat down with me for almost 2 hours and showed me multiple ideas. I was feeling bad as a few of them I shot down however, Kristin listened very patiently to my comments.
