After visiting Cinnaholic, I was heading back to Chester station. I saw this Second Cup to my right. I felt like a drink. I went inside. This cafe was doing steady business at around 2 pm on a Saturday. I got in line. There were a couple of folks ahead of me, which gave me time to look over the beverage menu and gawk at all the yummy-looking cakes and pastries in front of me. Oh, my! I got the nicest female barista who stepped me through everything. I wanted the oat caramel chai on the menu. I saw the fine print that it could also be ordered iced, which appealed to me. She asked me if a medium was okay. I rarely visit a Second Cup that her prompting the perfect size for me was awesome. I got a medium iced oat caramel chai. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and moved over to the pickup table. I was carrying a bag of goodies from Cinnaholic. I didn't even think of putting it on the small table. I'd expect drinks to be placed there. An obnoxious man joined me at the pickup area. He leaned over this table by putting his forearms on it to look at his phone. I gave him quite the stare. He eventually moved himself off the table. Ugh! My drink was ready. The nice barista placed it on the table that no longer had a hunched-over man over it. I got a straw, put it through the lid, and left the store. This drink was delicious. It was slightly sweet. I loved the caramel notes with the chai flavour. The oat beverage was barely noticeable. I liked that it was a dairy-free drink. So good! It was my first time sipping on a drink as a commuter on a train. There's a first for everything. I had an excellent experience, minus the annoying hunched-over-table guy. I'd return here for more drinks and maybe get some cake. (477) read more

It was my milestone birthday today and I started the celebration this morning with my favourite Vanilla Bean Soy Latte that was free with my Second Cup Rewards Card points! Big thanks to the always awesome Sigrid at Second Cup, Danforth & Chester for always remembering my exact order. I usually get my latte and head off to work but today I sat in front of the coffee shop and enjoyed the sunny Danforth ambiance as I sipped my delicious coffee feeling grateful to be alive! This is a medium-sized Second Cup. They have seasonal drinks. Customer service was courteous and helpful. The restaurant is clean. There is an electric fireplace at the back, but it wasn't turned on. I ordered the following: 1. Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate (medium $4.85). 2. Two mini donuts ($2.50). I chose Boston Cream Donut and Caramel Crunch Donut. There is no tax on the mini donuts. The Caramel Crunch donut has a caramel custard inside and crunchy bits on top. The Boston Cream, of course, has a white cream inside. There is indoor seating, indoor counter seating, and outdoor seating. The washroom has a sign that it is for customers only. You have to ask them to buzz you in. The last time I came here was between 2004 and 2007. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible. We stopped by this location and had a positive experience. We ordered an apple cider beverage with the cinnamon stick and a hot chocolate. Both beverages were really good and the service was friendly and quick. I would definitely recommend this coffee shop. read more

Have being visiting this second cup for years. It always has the friendliest staff no matter which day of the week or what time in the day. First time trying almond date smoothie and it's just soooo nutty and healthy and refreshing that I have give a five star! There are real chunks of dated in the smoothie. Situated on a corner facing danforth and close to Chester subway, this location is always hustling with activity. Service was fast and courteous and the matcha tea latte was on point. read more

Wish I could give this location and the entire Brand less than 1 star. I visited this location recently and the front door was not operating properly. No biggie. Right? Except that in this case the malfunctioning front door led to my 8 year old daughter seriously injuring her head and foot as the heavy glass door crashed closed at a high speed after hitting a snag as it was being opened. If you know about doors, both the sweep and the brake on the door are broken. Makes for a dangerous proposition. It snapped out of my hand unexpectedly and swooshed back so fast it took me a second to figure out what had happened. Still. No biggie. Things happen. I'm a big guy. But my daughter is 8. And lots of people are not as big as I. And even I could have been caught off guard and knocked down by this door. My daughter was knocked down. She was very distraught. Bawling. Lying on the ground with her foot stuck under the door and wrenched to one side. So I attended to her immediately. I got her up and helped her limp inside. I got over to the counter so she could lean against it while I tried to calm her down and assess her injury. It was pretty obviously a bad scene. As I was doing so at the cash, the server peered over the counter at me "may I help you?" Daughter with tears streaming down her face. Me: "ah. Yes. Your door is broken." Server: blank stare. Me: "it's really broken. Seriously. And my daughter was just injured by it". Server: "oh. I don't know anything about that. Did you want to order?" Me: "huh? Are you kidding? Is the manager here?" Server: "no". Me: "look I just need to redeem points for some beans but I need to take care of my daughter". Server; "ok. These ones?" Pointing to beans. Me: "sure" annoyed. Server 2 steps in: "everything ok here?" Me: "no. Everything is not ok. My daughter is hurt. Your door is broken." Server 2: "oh. Ok. I will ring you through then?" Me: "I'm using points". Server 2 "oh well the beans you chose are extra charge". Me: "are you kidding me? The other server told me these beans were the ones...and besides my daughter is hurt....I am taking care of her". Server 2:" ok well could you just move out of the way then". Now comes the better part....server 3 comes along "is everything ok?" Me: "I'm sorry. No it isn't ok. My daughter hurt her foot and her head in your door. It's broken. Did you know that?" Server 3: "oh yes. We do know the door is broken. There's nothing we can do about it". Me: "pardon? You know it's broken? And you aren't doing anything about it?" Server 3 : "yes that's right." Me: "it's dangerous. My daughter is really hurt". Server 3: "I know. Other people have also been hurt" Me: "pardon me? You know the door is broken. You know it's hurting people? And you are doing nothing about it? And you don't plan to do anything about it?" Server 3: "we cant do anything about it". Me: "you could get it fixed? Or put up a sign? Or help my daughter?" Server 3: "well it's not up to us. I just work here". Wow. I love that line "I just work here". People are getting physically hurt by our store because of our admitted negligence. But I'm not able to do anything as a human being because "I just work here". So I emailed Second Cup. I got an automated form letter reply offering me more reward points. 4 days later. My daughter has a deep bone bruise on her foot. Possibly ligament damage. Nothing broken though. Just before Christmas Break. It will take at least a month to fully heal. She has a bruise on her forehead. Nobody at Second Cup asked if she was ok. Nobody has indicated that this broken door will be fixed. And that's why another global franchise that gets the whole customer experience thing is going to slowly push Second Cup entirely out of business. I don't think I've ever receive such an unsatisfying experience completely devoid of empathy in my life. I was shocked. I am shocked. And I will now go out of my way to avoid Second Cup and to tell this story of shamefully bad service to as many people as possible. How many points is THAT worth Second Cup? read more

It's been a while since I've been to a Second Cup, and believe me, it's not because I've been spurned too much by the business to go back, but because I haven't been out about town lately to hit up a location. Now that I've found this one, it'll be hard to stay away! It's a relatively welcoming and relaxing place for a chain establishment, with nice music and lighting that's slightly dimmed. Second Cup offers cupcakes from local businesses (Dufflet) at very reasonable prices, but I'd leave the cake, it's about $5 for a small slice, and good, but not great. I was very surprised at the quality of the coffee, very good -strong and smooth- and definitely comparable to Starbucks. Also serves great iced drinks that are way cheaper than at SB. This location is pretty low key and always has seats available. Even though there is a Tim's and a few Starbucks locations around the area, pretty close to Second Cup actually, I would say that this is a much better place for working, or even reading a book. In short, it's much quieter and less busy, but still offers good food and drink at good prices, I'll be going back for a second cup ;D read more

I found this coffee shop one day when my regular place was so busy and I couldn't wait any longer.....had to have a coffee, and fast! My first visit was excellent. I loved everything about the place, especially the dark roast and pastry. I deliberately tried the place another time, and was a little less thrilled with the seating. The front end full, I ended up at the back, next to two very loud women, having a very personal conversation. The tables are very close together.Most annoying. Despite that, the service is good. The staff are welcoming and efficient. The place is clean and the selection of treats good. Unfortunately, The Second Cup will still be my second choice. But my fave is a hard one to beat. If you are in the neighbourhood, give this place a try....especially the dark roast. read more

I was walking along the Danforth and I decided to use up my free drink that I got with my Second Cup Card. I'm lactose intolerant so I asked for my iced drink with soy. The girl at the register told me they also had almond milk available and I was so delighted. We both agreed it was better! Not a lot of coffee places have almond milk available...this is the only coffee chain that I've been to that has it. My regular location is big but I really liked how this location had a lot more food to offer. I ended up grabbing a breakfast sandwich and muffin. The employees were very chatty and friendly and made my experience very pleasant. I may just stop by here again over Starbucks if I'm in the area just because of the better service. read more

I frequent this Second Cup location because it is close to a dance studio that I train at. I find the staff here very welcoming and they remember my drink even though it's totally complicated and slightly pretentious. Better yet, they have TWO patios that are pretty awesome to sit on in the warmer months. One side is in the shade! There are three washrooms and at 2 are fairly clean (the other is the men's washroom so I don't go in there) despite the fact that they must have a lot of traffic and let's face it, clean washrooms are very important! The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because I heard second hand that this place may have had some "health issues." I only drink the coffee so I'm not too concerned but if you eat the food you may want to look into this. I don't know for sure but thought I'd put it out there! read more

Great place for meeting a friend or client, working on your laptop, or bringing the kids. Whenever I walk into my local Second Cup, I get a really good feeling. The staff is welcoming to me whether I'm pushing my stroller or toting my laptop or just grabbing a cuppa for the road. I generally prefer locally owned, indie coffee shops for the vibe, but this Second Cup location is an exception. For its cleanliness, friendliness and closeness, I give this place four stars! All you laptop monkeys looking for a place to put in some hours on whatever work you have, this place boasts lots of tables, several plug locations, free wifi with sign-in, and a good vibe. read more

Terrible unfriendly service, been there twice with different staff. Second time I ordered an espresso, and a side of hot water to go with it. They tell me they have to charge for the hot water! Many people have espresso and hot water, how can you justify this? I contact head office and they said all orders with hot water have to be charged. Be prepared to pay $4 for espresso if you want to have a side of hot water with it. Will go to Starbucks instead for an espresso, or any of the other cafes on the Danforth who know how to serve coffees European style. read more

They ( the owner ) intentionally misplaced orders just to make you pay more expensive drinks. We ordered two chai tea, but they made us pay for chai latte; even though we told them more than once. Plus, we served normal tea, while we ordered green tea. read more

I usually like Tim's or Starbuck, but I love the hot chocolates and lattes from Second Cup. It is usually clean and friendly!

Went to this location for the first time yesterday. I was next in line and waited 5 MINUTES for them to even pay attention to me. No "sorry, I'll be right with you", or anything. When finally greeted, it wasn't polite at all. Basically when I ordered, she looked like she was doing me a favour. And no "Thank You's or Your Welcomes" at all. Just rude service, and I will never go back there again. I will go out of my way to go to a place that has better service - like the Second Cup at King & Jarvis.
