The new hubs, sister-in-law, sister-gf-in-law (lol) and I were waiting to meet my fam at the Space Needle. We were determined to do some touristy things even though we are in a pandy. It was cold, rainy and as usual, I was hangry. We noticed the coffee sign and headed over. There was only one person working, older gentleman, and he managed to get our coffees and breakfast sandwiches out to us fairly quickly. Coffee was great, sandwiches were good. I appreciated the chairs and table next to the heater the most. I just saw that this place might be permanently close..? Sigh, I hope it's not true!! Overall cute little spot with great food! This place had a covered dining area, the owner was kind and the "vibe" was great! This coffee shop is certainly one of the more interesting shops I've seen. It is connected to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation building...GARAGE. As in, you can walk from the garage straight into the coffee shop, no walls. This is a very bizarre layout. I feel like the garage causes the shop to be quite cold at times. The coffee here was interesting. I got a mocha. The espresso itself wasn't too bad - it was rather strong, probably one of the stronger espresso shots I've had in Seattle. Nothing better than a hot cup of lavender matcha in a fairly cold afternoon after hours of touring around the space needle. It's a fairly small space but at the perfect location. The owner was very nice and friendly in serving us. I've only had lavender matcha a few times but the one at the Seattle Grind is definitely worth trying. Great coffee with a plethora of housemade unique options, which are definitely worth a try! Living in Seattle, I'm always on the lookout for coffee shops to try, and came across this one while mindlessly browsing Google Maps (a favorite pastime). I was definitely a little apprehensive about it, as its proximity to the Seattle Center and the Space Needle meant a likely plethora of tourists, but decided to give it a shot since I had nothing else to try. Upon approaching the little spot in a corner of a parking lot, we found a few signs tempting us with interesting options such as a Lavender Latte, and were intrigued enough to get 2 orders, one of a standard Almond Milk Latte and one of a housemade Lavender Latte. The Almond Milk Latte was smooth, thick, and creamy, and reinforced my idea that Seattle coffee slaps the hardest in the US (Honolulu definitely didn't dissuade my opinion here). The Lavender Latte was also creamy and delicious, and definitely appeals to the sweet tooth my partner has, with a nice floral taste that was not overbearing but just present enough. If I were to go back, I'd definitely try out one of their other unique homemade offerings! read more

The owner told us he used to work at MoPop (if I am remembering correctly...he at least worked in this area) and he decided to buy the coffee shop one day. Him and his wife make all of the syrups and flavors. They are made with love. Try the coffee, chat with the staff, look at the cool art (also made by one of the owners) you will not regret it. I was really looking forward to getting great coffee in Seattle. While we were waiting for our turn at the Space Needle, I took the opportunity to look up nearby cafés. The cardamom latte jumped out at me right away. It's always odd when you're not greeted by a worker. It was especially awkward because we were the only ones in there. I made the initiative and asked if I could get a cardamom soy latte. I couldn't figure out why the total came out to $7, when it should have been $6. Instead of confronting her, my boyfriend told me it was fine because that would have been her tip. The space is unique. It's attached to a parking garage. The smell of exhaust forced us outdoors. Now, I'm not sure if the soy was already sweetened, but the latte was cloyingly sweet. And the milk wasn't hot enough. I'm not sure why coffee shops never regulate their steamed milk temperatures. I would have asked her to top the drink off with a regular brew to cut the sweetness, but her initial unfriendliness turned me off from interacting with her further. I also thought the latte art was a bit on the boring/lazy side. Inside is a phone charging station, which is helpful for tourists. The boyfriend dropped his on their garage cement floor and cracked his screen. Bad coffee and damaged phone completely killed our vibe. read more

Came here this morning on the way to work near Mercer. What attracted me was this: a simple propped-up sign outside advertising their cardamom latte. Lately, I've been obsessed with anything cardamom and have found that Seattle is too (cardamom cocktails, cardamom lattes, cardamom cookies..) so I was happy to see that The Seattle Grind is joining in on the cardamom train. They have your usual 12 oz. and 16 oz. sizes, but they also have 20 OZ. (!) for those drowsy days when you need four shots of espresso. I thought this was pretty cool. I don't know of many cafes that have 20 oz. drinks. The barista was extremely friendly and we had a nice chat while he made my drink. He also told me about their lavender latte, which they make from scratch using fresh lavender buds that they distill into a syrup. Wow. I noticed while waiting that there was a crossword puzzle left on the counter for anyone to fill in. He explained that its popularity had caught on and he'll have customers who sometimes spend half an hour trying to figure it out. I thought this was an innovative, quirky idea that brings people together without them even knowing it. Awesome. The latte was delish (order with hemp, it brings out the flavors in a really smooth way). I also got the "veggie delight" breakfast sandwich, which I thought was made in-house, but sadly they are prepackaged sandwiches that they just warm up via panini press. I wasn't that impressed with it considering I paid $5 for something that wasn't fresh. Overall, a good experience and I plan on coming back, but not for the breakfast sandwiches. read more

As soon as I walk up to the counter, first thing the lady said to me was "I'll be with you in a second. I have other drinks to make." They offer local talent and intelligence that you won't find elsewhere. All the drink syrups and flavors are crafted by hand and the baked goods are truly homemade as well. I stumbled in here with some friends this past Sunday to grab some coffee and a quick breakfast. At first, I was a little caught off guard that this place was kind of in parking garage, but then again it is kind of a unique quality about this place. Also, right across the street from the Space Needle, so a very convenient location. Whoever the barista was, I would like to say he is probably one of the most knowledgeable and passionate baristas I have ever met. I tried this lavender latte that was featured on the menu, but when myself or any of my friends asked about any of their drinks, the amount of detail and excitement he used to describe their drinks was extremely obvious. There was a rush of us in the group of about 5 plus 3 other people that walked in. My lavender latte was incredible, but most notably, when I went to pick up my friends breakfast sandwich off the bar, I pulled a classic move and dropped the whole thing. She was going to attempt to eat it due to the widely known 5 second rule, however our friends convinced her otherwise. I went to the barista to try to purchase a replacement sandwich, but when he found out it was an accident that I dropped the sandwhich and saw it pathetically in pieces sitting on the table, he offered to make a new one on the house. read more

We visited this place during the big snow storm in February. I saw this place had good reviews and right in front of the pop museum. I didn't realize this place was a little Cafe inside the parking lot structure. So naturally it was a bit cold inside. Our food was already made and in the fridge. It just gets run in the oven to warm it up. So that was a bummer seeing that they were not freshly cooked right there. But overall, the food tasted good.
