I visit Gualala a couple of times a year and stop at the Sea Trader every time and always make a purchase. You will be greeted at the door by a beautiful kitty named Ozzie. Great little gift shop where I peruse the books first then head over to the tarot and oracle cards. Staff are friendly and helpful. Spent almost an hour selecting many items just to literally walk out of the store, leaving all my products on the counter because the woman at the register was so incredibly rude. She became extremely frustrated due to needing two transactions and started slamming things on the counter and making snarky comments. read more

My family has been going to Sea Ranch for many many decades. We usually make the drive up every other year. Every time without fail, we have to make a stop at the Sea Trader once. It's got so much inside there. Books, clothes, jewelry, a cat that walks around the building, postcards, candles, etc. When I went last year, I got a beautiful candle that had crystals inside of it. I also bought a few pairs of earrings and a necklace that were homemade by locals. I think the owner was the one who actually made the earrings, while the necklace was a local. I love the music, the smell of incense, and all the fun stuff to buy. Absolutely love this shop and I recommend checking it out if you're in town. read more

Every year we come to Sea Ranch and always come to this shop. Mr. Oz, the shop cat is a love bug! They accept used book donations and sell them for $1. The proceeds go to the local spca. (Cash only sales for these books) I always bring the books I've read throughout the year to donate here. I also stock up on books from thier shelves. YES! Go! Make the time to stop, I sure am glad I did! We past by pretty regularly and never took the time to stop until recently and Wow- what a find! They have such a great variety of all types of things for gifts, for yourself, for the outdoors, indoors, for kids of all ages- there is something for everyone. We enjoyed a leisurely visit and chatting with Linda who made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. We were not pressured to purchase anything and all our questions were answered and the everything we checked out was great quality. A lot of whimsical fun finds along with metaphysical material, great soaps, candles, greeting cards, books - just great inventory. We found a fun book for our 5yo grandson who is learning to read (Walter the Farting Dog Goes on a Cruise) and one for our 4 yo granddaughter (I Am a Warrior Goddess) as well as some beautiful Fairie items for her, incense matches for the guys, and a few jewelry pieces for me. My wife & I stop here on every visit to Gualala, usually a few times a year as our friends own a home on the ridge. Upon arrival we were greeted strangely by a man reading a newspaper. We said hello & good morning and he replied, "Hit the sanitizer for me" slowly looking up as if we interrupted him from some important task. We walked in and as always petted Oz the shop cat. Upon entering the second part of the shop, I greeted the lady behind the counter with a hello and a smile, "Face shields, DON'T work! You need to wear a mask." Never in all our travels on the coastline have we encountered such rudeness. Why are you yelling at me? First of all, we use our own 99.9% sanitizer before and after we leave any public place. Trust people to be adults. It's a moot point since everyone constantly adjust their face masks anyway and touch their face. Secondly, if she spoke to me in a more pleasant tone and treated me with respect I would've put on 2 masks and an eyepatch if she wanted. To the owner of this shop, replace your store clerk whom pre-pandemic wasn't that friendly to begin with and we know because we have been patrons for many many years. We promptly left without buying anything and will not return. We'll just spend more $$$ at Four-Eyed Frog bookstore! read more

I love this place, it's got a great vibe and wonderful things for sale [it's your typical Hippie Nor-Cal Coast shop]. It's a tad bit pricey [I make some of the things they sell and know people who work with some of the other things so I know what these items cost in the industry and some of the stuff is marked up to a higher price than what I would consider fair]. The only two things I don't like about the shop is that every time I've been in the woman behind the counter is condescending if you have questions about the products and they have a shop cat. He's huge and friendly and while the place is super clean and well maintained if you're allergic it can make the shop an allergy ridden nightmare. I spent about 30 minutes in the shop looking at things and there wasn't a sign that there was a cat until I saw a cat tree behind the counter and then the cat appeared, though I could tell after just a few minutes that I was having a reaction. It's a small thing that's only going to effect people with allergies, but I think they should have a sign outside letting people know a cat lives there. I knocked off the a star because of the woman behind the counter's attitude. I would have bought a lot more if she hadn't looked down her nose at me when I asked about the properties of the crystals they had for sale. read more

I absolutely love this little eclectic shop. Their things are reasonably priced and the owner and staff are very friendly. I always make it a point to stop here when I am visiting the area and always come away with new lovely treasures. The scarves and jewelry they carry are just beautiful and one of the gals who works there makes quite a bit of the jewelry. It is very well made and one of a kind pieces. If you are looking to spend some time admiring beautiful works of art and interesting international items this is the place for you.
