When my husband brought me there 13 years ago, I too fell in love. The mix of unique clothing and insanely beautiful glassware/art pieces - just awesome. We have 4 beautiful bowls with are works of art (upcycled materials no less)! The clothing is unique boutique style and she might not have a ton of sizes at any given time, but most of the clothing has a very flowy feel, so you can check out sizes as she does have a dressing room! Carole is truly wonderful and so helpful - she gift wrapped our most recent purchases with the most lovely bows and care, we feel so lucky they are still there and look forward to our next visits! I recently bought very comfortable black sneakers which unfortunately had huge white soles that looked weird at my age. I hoped to be able to hide that white rubber with black paint. My son got me a 2.25 oz bottle of Black (n° 588) Light Body Opaque Acrylic NEOPAQUE by Jacquard. The product was very easy to apply and dried absolutely flat as I hoped. I used a hair dryer to apply some heat and waited 24 hours before wearing my new sneakers. I can report that this paint is of amazing quality because there has been no flaking or peeling whatsoever in over a month. I brought the container to Europe so I could retouch the soles of my sneakers in case the black paint wore off but it has not been necessary. I cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to find that such a fine product is still made in the USA... Please don't sell your company.

There is a front room with paints and canvases and all sorts of goodies. There is also a back room with drawing supplies and they plan to expand upstairs. Right now there are limited hours while they get up and running, but plan to extend hours closer to the holidays. They have all sorts of exciting ideas about expanding & art classes. The pricing seems better than before. I'm just so glad Napa still has an art supply store.

She took my list and helped me pick out several of the things I needed. The paint brushes were quite confusing and she seemed to know what she was talking about so I let her pick for me. My teacher was pleased by her choices. If you're looking for expert and friendly help unlike the big chain stores, go to Riley Street Art Supply. They give student discounts as well as have a lot of good sales. Plus the fact that they're a family owned business and I like supporting small businesses.

A highlight of our visit was the resident bookstore cat, the Great Catsby, a dignified 16-year-old. We didn't see any posted rules, but it's worth remembering: interaction with a cat is always on the cat's terms. Sit calmly nearby and you might be chosen (we were lucky!), but it's never a given with any cat, especially a senior one. A lovely bookstore experience. Long live the indies!

Jelly cats lol I had been wanting a fountain pen for a long time but never bought one. Perfect timing I guess? The JT? TJ? Super knowledgeable about the products on hand, and even the ones they didn't have on hand. I'm excited for the Lamy pen, and sailor ink I purchased. The price of the pen was comparable to what I've seen online, so I'm glad I was able to shop local. I also ended up getting some cute stickers and washi tape.

The pen Manager explained the specific refills in detail. Bonus, she wrote down the details of each model on the back of her business card. She was very helpful and detailed oriented and a pleasure to converse with. We'll definitely miss Flax, but in the meantime, we'll make sure all of the items we need, we get 'em here.
