This place is a shell of what it once was. Menu is scaled WAY back and main dining area is now self serve drinks and condiments. We got breadsticks with nacho cheese and marinara. Marinara was hot which is a big plus, but the nacho cheese was cold (?). My son got a calzone with a few toppings, one of which was bacon and it wasn't cooked and had giant pieces of fat. Also, way too much cheese inside. We also got a burger that was just ok and boneless wings were pretty good. Sad to witness the decline of this place- it was a Friday night and totally dead. Stopped in at The Scoreboard with my two young children. They don't have a kids menu so we opted for a plain boneless wings and a cheeseburger for them. I went with the Chicken Burger and it was delicious. I have had a lot of chicken sandwiches in my life, including some at some posh burger places in Indy, and it is up there in the top 10. Have been going there over the last 10 years and will not go back. I took 4 kids with me under the age of 12 and they all wanted fries. Was told you cant just order fries you have to order "loaded" fries and then just take off everything...$8 each! Also their pizza has always been really good but has been declining in taste the last few times of being there. This time it was not cooked all the way, was dry with not much sauce and the only taste i could find was the crushed red peppers I had sprinkled on it. We told the waitress that we would never be back because of all these things. She apologized and we told her not her fault. She said a lot of people have been complaining as well. She said it's been a young kid making the pizzas and he doesn't know what he's doing!!! You would have thought she would have had the manager come talk to us but no one came around. Also they are very rude and seem to have a lot of anxiety when the place gets busy. My guess is the owners only care about the craft beer they make and sell. Oh and don't get there 20-30 minutes before closing time because they'll tell you the kitchen is closed! I could understand if your open late but the place does a hard close at closing time. Food is good, service was very good and friendly however it was a slow Wed night so take into account. Beer is great. Always enjoy our time here but they do leave the big doors open for good weather sometimes and may be the reason so many flies are inside. I recommend the outdoor seating to avoid the flies. We have been a couple times. The first experience was poor with mediocre food and too many flies. When mentioning the flies to the server they could only apologize instead of opening the large overhead door in hopes that some would go away. Restaurant is by no means bad. It's a small place and appears to be family owned and operated. We had breadsticks and burgers. It was advertised with chips... and that's what we got: a small bag of classic lays. The food was okay. Small working staff... So if the 9 tables were full I suspect it would be overwhelming. I love this place! I really should try another sandwich it's just that it's so Yummy!! I order the goalie which is a toasted ham and cheese with fresh lettuce and tomato and special scoreboard sauce! I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant in Monticello that offered craft beers, about 15 or so. The food was very good. I had the boneless wings and my son the cheeseburger. Both did not disappoint. We also ordered a basket of their fresh cut fries, which were tasty, however, could have been left in the fryer for another minute or so. The food is great - best wings anywhere; service is always very good. This would be a 5 star review except for two things. One: I wish they had more regular tables - the high top chairs just aren't comfortable. Two: They pay their servers above minimum wage, which is great. HOWEVER, I understand that the servers have to give their tips to management. If management wants to pay a decent wage so that their servers don't have to depend on tips (which is a very good thing,) then there should be a sign in the restaurant and on the menu that tipping is not allowed. People tip for good service, not to support management. Most people have no idea their tips are not going to the people for whom they are intended. This seems deceitful. I won't be tipping here any more, which will be no reflection on the wait staff at all. Is this even legal? read more

I'm a complete chicken wing snob and give their wings a 10 out of 10. Their extreme hot sauce was very flavorful and the wings were HUGE. Best wings I've had outside of Buffalo. On top of that, the pizza was crazy good. Crust was crispy and chewy - absolutely perfect. Sauce has a great flavor and the toppings portions were spot on. As far as drinks go, the Mr Brown is a great compliment to everything. Prices were great and we will go back for sure and take family and friends that come to visit the lake. read more

My only problem with this restaurant is that they keep their servers tips. They pay them above minimum wage and don't allow them to keep the tips they receive. This practice is not posted in the restaurant. When I leave money for a server it is a reflection of how well they have done and I don't want it to go to anyone else. Visiting Monticello for a week, and finally found a place with good craft beer, which was a priority for me. Had two beers. "Where Snakes Dare" and "Dan Patch". Both we quite tasty. Many menu items were out. Then I ordered ham and pineapple pizza and the we're out of pineapple too. I ended up buying up to a more elaborate pizza and they gave it to me at the Hawaiian price. The Scoreboard is the closest thing in Monticello to a pub style bar with craft brew and better than average bar food. The only better bar food is at the Sportsman Inn and Beaver's Pub, but they are also pricier. The staff is friendly, the place is trendier looking than almost anywhere else in town, except for the McDonald's, clean and the prices are reasonable. This town needs more sports bars, and as far as I know, only the Sportsman Inn and BJ Wingers has the NFL package. If you're a Chicagoan, this is not a gastropub, like the Public House or Hopleaf's. My favorite thing about the scoreboard is the local craft beer. The often have several on tap plus a seasonal brew. Your standard American beers are also available.
