I've been here from groceries before and I saw online that they offered rental assistance (I lost my job and still don't know how I'm gonna pay this month rent) So gathered all the documents that they listed were required, I printed out the form on the website, filled in out and gave it to my landlord to complete, got my bank statements and all my other documentation together. (the website just states to drop the documents off in person or mail them) So I called to see if I could come in to drop everything off and that's when I was told, I had to have been receiving other services from them for at least the last 6 months to qualify for rental assistance and also they were not accepting applications until September. SO WHY WAS NONE OF THAT ON THE WEBSITE? Why are there detailed instructions about how to apply and instruction to mail the application without the rest of the information? I EMBARRASSED myself by taking the form to my landlord and having him sigh it all to be told it was for nothing? It's ridiculous and actual insanity that they they don't give ALL the information online. It definitely makes me think they say one thing to get funding... and then tell the community something else. SHADY beyond belief.

Popped in today around 2:30pm to shop and it was not busy. So I got to take my time through the aisles. Saw some jeans and a shirt that I liked. Tossed them in my basket. Then I went to the book section and was amazed at all of the different types of books. Self help, fantasy, autobiographical, thrillers and more! I actually picked up four supernatural style novels. Checking out was easy. The cashier was friendly and saw that one of my articles of clothing had a green tag. Which meant 50% off! There's a free condom display for practicing safe sex. That's amazing! Oh, and on Saturday, February 21st 2026 they are having $2 sale in the parking lot. I will definitely start following them for their monthly $2 sales!

I stopped by on a Sunday morning and there was a small line waiting to get in. The darling gal that opened the door greeted us with a cheerful "Hello." She was fabulous - walking around enthusiastically telling customers, "That is perfect for you" in Spanish. The excitement was definitely in the air because I happened to overhear one gal's phone conversation. She said, "My mom kept telling me to come were to find a jacket for my trip. I finally said o.k. so she would leave me alone and guess what? I found the perfect jacket and it's my size! I hate it when my mom is right." I had to laugh. Her mom is right though, this store has a vast selection of clothing, jewelry, accessories, furniture, houseware, and other items. Most shoes & clothing are priced at $10. Of course, I fell in love with a stunning Roberto Cavalli dress. Unfortunately, it was $250. I also saw a pair of beautiful Louboutins for $45 but they weren't my size. However, I did score a great little black dress and a pair of sexy L.A.M.B. heels for $10 each. Perfect date night outfit! Now I just need to find a date. LOL!

I was told what items they would not accept, and I fully understood those limits (including one oversized sign that wasn't on the list). When the driver arrived, however, it became clear this was not a donation pickup -- it was **shopping**. The driver selectively picked through my items: * Wouldn't take antique chairs because "there's no table to go with them" * Took some lampshades but not others because "there are too many." * Refused a backdrop roll of photographic paper outright I was honestly shocked. Multiple times, the driver reminded me that **what he takes is entirely at his discretion**. I called the donation center to speak with a supervisor, hoping for clarification or support -- only to be told the exact same thing: *"It's at the discretion of the driver."* So let me be clear: if you're looking for a **charity that thoughtfully accepts donations**, this is not it. If you're looking for a charity that **picks through your belongings and cherry-picks what they feel like taking**, then Out of the Closet is definitely the place to call. First off this place is huge! There's so much to browse through, and most sections are fairly well organized, though a few shelves and aisles looked pretty picked over and messy, which I mostly avoided. Still, the selection here is impressive. They carry everything from furniture, purses, shoes, and clothing to appliances, books, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, jewelry, electronics, vinyl records, dishes, and toys. My brother-in-law and I spent some time in the toy section and we both actually ended up leaving with some teddy bears. His was only $3, and when he looked it up in the store it was worth up to $70--he was so excited about that find! Overall my personal experience was very pleasant and the customer service I received was great. Most employees seemed friendly and helpful. I did notice a slightly awkward interaction between an older female employee and another customer browsing near the VHS/DVD and jewelry counter. The employee called out "next," which made it seem like she thought the customer was ready to check out. When the customer didn't respond right away, the employee called out louder to get her attention kinda sounded annoyed. The customer looked a little caught off guard and replied that she was just browsing before continuing to look around. It was a bit of an odd moment, but when that same employee ended up checking us out, everything went smoothly and we had no issues. Overall it was a fun thrifting trip and I'd definitely come back again. Next time I want to spend more time exploring the clothing section!

The Council Shop- Burbank was close by so we opted to make a detour. The shop is located right along the major street, but we lucked out with street parking right in front. The shop had a good variety of pretty much everything. There was a small/medium size area of men's clothing, home goods, and decor, while the store had a very robust selection of women's clothing. Many things were categorize with certain pricing; however, there were some items that were individually priced. I bought a pair of black suede made in Italy boots (which I loved) for $25 and a new with tags swimsuit for $11. I thin the quality of the donations they accept seem pretty high so the next time I come back to Burbank I'd be open to drop in again!
