As soon as you walk in you realize this isn't your average thrift store. The store is well laid out, organized and has that fantastic smell of used gear (but in a good way); it all brings back good memories of the past. They have a good assortment of records (yes vinyl is making a comeback). And they are dirt cheap; mostly costing less than a buck! I picked up two records and it cost me a toonie. How great is that!! The store shelves are organized in a great way, great friendly and inviting owners, wonderful jazz music was playing in the background, housewares, books, clothing, toys, electronics and even furniture were available to snap up. Be careful, walk into Junk in the Trunk and you'll be walking into a time-warp that you may not want to leave.

Lots of cool records too (main floor and basement). I've bought hundreds of LP's from That Old Retro Store over the last few years, and I'm quite particular regarding condition when digging for records. I always walk out with an armful of gems, priced fairly. Recently I was looking for a clean replacement copy of Allan Holdsworth's 'Metal Fatigue' (original pressing). I called around town, and the only store that had a copy was That Old Retro Store. Lindsey said she'd have to check her stock, and she got back to me right away. The LP looked like it had never been played, and was $10. That really made my day! While there, I snagged a few more records, all priced reasonably and in near mint condition. The staff at That Old Retro Store have always been very friendly, and operate with the utmost professionalism. A pleasure to deal with.

Serendipity's Strathmore is the granddaughter's much-enjoyed consignment shop…read more While browsing before Christmas last year, she found two, lovely pieces of artist-crafted, hand-painted, custom stemware - located in the 'Artisan Market' area of the shop. With her Mom along side (there on a trip at the time), and having us in mind, she purchased the glasses as a 'Love you guys" gift - which daughter brought home, and gifted our way upon return. Though holiday wrapped, we were told to open the package when brought to us, and not wait until Christmas. Which we did, and then tried the glasses for the first time, with some "bubbly" on my December birthday. Our love and thanks again to granddaughter for the loving gesture and glasses. To daughter, for being the loving and personal carrier of the gift. And to Serendipity's Strathmore -- we hear so many good things about your fine shop, and now we have something in-hand to share with those moments.
